Falco Lombardi is an avian member of the Star Fox team, and arguably the best pilot on the team. He has a brash attitude, and is not afraid to take on any situation. Falco appears to have a somewhat independent personality, and has left Star Fox before. Despite this, he always seems to come back to his friends on the team, showing that there may just be a hint of loyalty in him.

Appearance

Falco's species is that of a raptor, most likely a falcon, though not a specific species. His general head shape suggest that of a raptor, but one interesting characteristic, which traces back to the early character designs, is his color. While his shape is that of a bird of prey, his colors are that of a pheasant. Material recently revealed in interviews with designers reveals that Falco was actually originally intended to be a pheasant.

Falco's body feathars are blue, with dark red around his eyes, similar to many pheasant species. His beak is large and yellow. His build has varied from being somewhat stocky in Star Fox to more of a slim build in Star Fox Assault.

Falco originally wore a jumpsuit with a flight jacket in Star Fox, like the other characters. His jumpsuit was orange in color, which he retained in Star Fox 64. In Star Fox Adventures, he wore a leather jacket over a white shirt, leather pants, a white headband, and sunglasses. In Star Fox Assault, he wore a flashy red and silver long-sleeve jumpsuit with exaggerated shoulder guards. In Star Fox Command, he returned to his Star Fox 64 attire.

Personality

Falco's personality is likely the easiest thing to notice about him. He has a bit of a ruffian attitude, coming from his time as a member of a space hotrodder gang. Falco doesn't like being helped, but will ask for it if he really needs it, but don't expect him to show gratitude. Lines like "Gee, I've been saved by Fox! How swell..." are common responses to needed help, while likes like "Go find your own target, Fox!" are common if you help him when he doesn't need it. His personality seems like one where you will find him smack-talking and taunting his enemies, but in-game he only does this on occasion, and perhaps his longest taunt, directed at Pigma Dengar, happened when no one other than his teammates could hear it.

Background

Not much is known about Falco's background. What is known is that he spent some time in a space hot-rodder gang before meeting-up with Fox McCloud and attending the Cornerian Academy. There seems to be history between him and Katt Monroe, as he immediately recognized her when she first showed-up on Zoness in Star Fox 64. Katt has a crush on him, but Falco makes it quite obvious that he is not pleased with her presence. Sadly, little background information about their relationship is available, though it is somewhat explored in the Farewell Beloved Falco comic released by Nintendo Co. Ltd. before the launch of Star Fox Adventures.
