Fusion Saga: a Star Fox and Metroid crossover?
Wow, two main page posts in a row about the Retro Rumor.
Paul Gale, the source that revealed PlayStation All Stars almost 6 months before its announcement, has now claimed that Retro Studios is working on BOTH Star Fox and Metroid -- IN THE SAME GAME, tentatively titled "Star Fox - Metroid: Fusion Saga."
Now, he does qualify this by saying it is the only info he's heard on Retro's project, but I am posting this here because of past claims he has made being true.
He mentions how Retro has wanted to do an original Sci-Fi IP, but also many on Retro's team have wanted to take a stab at Star Fox. And we already know the company's work on the Metroid franchise.
Fox quite literally runs into Samus, causing a crash. It seems to be two games in one with two stories, Samus' part of the story and Star Fox's.
You'll get to fly Samus's ship, and you'll get to take Fox on ground adventures (He will apparently move similarly to Ryu Hayabusa from Ninja Gaiden).
There will be leader boards and multilayer battle (whether or not the battles were online was not specified).
He qualifies this all with a statement that this may have just been a pitch, and may not actually have gone to production.
I guess I could sum up my feelings with a "don't know if want" image macro. While the idea is interesting, how can it possibly be canon to either series? Also, Metroid and Star Fox are very different franchises. The only thing the have in common is Space. Though if anyone could actually make the crazy idea work, it is Retro Studios.
I really don't know what to think of it.
My problem with the leak is that there is TOO MUCH detail. Sounds a lot like someone spinning a yarn to me. We'll see. E3 is less than three weeks away!

The Retro Sutdios and Star Fox rumor is back
Normally, I wouldn't bother to make a main-page post about this rumor. It's been around for a long time. In fact, the rumor started while Retro was ramping-up production on Donkey Kong Country Returns. Of course, we didn't know about that game at the time, but the speculation about it potentially being a Star Fox Title was bubbling up in various places around the internet.
Well, the rumor is bubbling-up again. Retro has already said they are working on something that "everyone wants them to do." There was a little speculation at the time that it may be Star Fox, but there are other things people have wanted out of Retro, including a new Metroid Prime game.
But, there is something now adding new fire to this rumor.
The British gaming site TechTroid claims to have an inside source that confirms that the game is, in fact, a Star Fox game! They claim it would not be a launch title, but would be unveiled at E3.
As exciting is this sounds, let's remember: this is an anonymous source for a blog. Take this with the requisite dose of salt. We'll find out the truth in a few weeks.

New SF643D Trailer, Screens, Date?
New trailer and screens of the North America Localization of SF643D.
Also, there are some rumblings of the NA release date being pushed forward 2 days to Sept. 9 to avoid any 9/11 drama, but I have yet to confirm that, so take it with a grain of salt. I won't update the game page until I see something more convincing.

New Star Fox 64 3D Trailer, JPN site launch
Forum user SilverXy7 sent us a link to a new Japanese trailer.
This trailer gives us a glimpse of Star Wolf on Fichina (Wolf is wearing his old-school patch instead of his new SFAs one), Katina, Area 6, Macbeth, Sector Z, and Sector X.
We also get to hear the re-worked Star Wolf theme, which has a slight 6/8 time feel to it.
Also, the Japanese website for the game has opened.
