As our community grows, the inevitability of increased hosting costs comes with the growth. 2011 will be a bit of  a tough year for me, financially, and it also happens to be the year that all of the hosting contracts come up for renewal.

So, rather that sell ads, I am instead asking for a little help paying the bills. Using the link below, you can contribute directly to SFO's webhosting bill. This link goes directly to our web host, and the money goes directly to them. It never passes through my hands, and save for a 5% + $0.30USD processing fee, it all goes to the bill.

You can donate here:
Posted Image
Note: Uses PayPal

If you choose to donate, the minimum donation is $0.50.

As soon as I can get one made, I will have a donor badge that will replace your rank image here on the forums. The systems sends me an e-mail with the e-mail address on the paypal account that donated. To get your badge, PM me your paypal e-mail.

DONATING IS COMPLETELY OPTIONAL. DONORS WILL NOT RECEIVE ANY SPECIAL TREATMENT OR EXCLUSIVE ACCESS, ONLY THE BADGE THAT SHOWS THEY CONTRIBUTED.

Hopefully this will not be permanent and the next contract renewal I will be able to afford without donations.

Smaller bills for the VPS upgrade and domain renewal are coming soon, the big bill for the primary hosting comes in September.

Thanks. :)

Quick question. How do you find out who donates, so people don't lie?

I get an email with the paypal email address that donated. Send me a PM with your paypal e-mail address to get in the donor group.

I don't have a badge yet, but there will be one.

This is good, DZ. :) I'd love to donate, but I don't get too much money, and I have it all figured for the next couple of months.
If I ever can, I'll be sure to. I've always loved SF-O. ;)

Slightly off-topic:

I'm not sure if the current Donor badge is final but for some reason, the current Donor badge looks like part of a health system from Dead Rising.

I want to say thanks to all of you who have donated. Donations have completely covered the VPS costs for the next two months. That helps me out a ton.

Well, that's because it is using the original pip icons until the donor badge gets done.

And to DZ: No problem. May I ask if you don't mind, about how much did you get in donations?

I'll be going to donate a bit myself as soon as I get myself a credit card. Don't fancy using debit over the internet, no matter what site processes the payment.

Personally I don't know any sites that do allow you to a debit card over the Internet, I know it's been possible for years but still....credit cards are where it's at. :)

Furthermore, recently the credit card companies have been issuing cards that allow you to use it like a debit card as well.  Since I can easily pay off my balance every month online (plus get credit card rewards in the process) I don't really use my bank card anymore.

I'll throw in some cash as well when I'm not dead tired.

I think you're thinking of ATM cards. I have two debit cards, and they are usable anywhere that takes Visa, even online.

I will donate once I get another form of funding. My student funds were cut by 500 and I can't even pay my rent right now, so I'm meeting with the finance admin at the uni to see what I can do.
