Alright, some of you guys know the drill, some of you don't. This topic is about talking about the Staff as a whole, or just a single member, talk about what kind of things we could do for you to be a better staff team. KEEP the harsh things out, and if it's something serious, REPORT IT TO ME FIRST.

Added a poll for further research (The staff, of course, won't vote). Please, if you are new (less than one month old) refrain from voting. We are looking for honest opinions.

I think the poll is a little silly if I can just say my opinion and be on my way, XD, so here I come with words and stuff.

AND PLEASE, mods and admins, before reading what I am saying, this is not attacking, or drama, or nothing, and no names are being mentioned. No need to make excuses, as in cases with most mods, it is pretty clear what they are, so I do know what I am saying.

Any how, My opinion on this is well, Admins in general have been working hard, specially DZ by a lot [CRAP, I said I wouldn't say names. Dx Oh well, guess I lied. =P] with this whole site changing/updating and all. I know most of us here couldn't do it, so he has his good hands filled.

As for mods, I guess I should really say names, so I guess I'll bring up the ones I feel need to be said? This still is no attack or nothing. Odd is never doin anything, at least from my view, and he posted like, once I think a week or two ago in something random, and then Sylum... I dunno what little drama may or may not be going on in his life, but he kinda just stood up and left...

I still never see Fira really around or Asper, but I heard he got done with the military finally, so he is probably taking a break, and I know he is posting cause I see him up der [HAI ASPER~] so it is good to see more of him in general.

And well, no matter how the two do it, these two being User and Redeemer, and whether they be harsh or not enough stricktness when need be, I still see them doing most of the corralling, so, yeah. *Tips hat*

And Sissy... I see her around and do stuff sometimes, and then I remember her modding the shoutbox a few times which is also good! ^^

Overall, pshawwww, I don't think we -need- more mods or admins or anything really at all, but if a lot of our staff is gunna be innactive, leaving User and Redeemer do most of the work... *Shrugs* That kinda is unfair to them, even if they like doing all the work. The other mods, as much as I love them too, need to do work too. =3

I agree with Fluxy. We have a few mods that seem to be inactive, maybe they have a reason to, and we all know that real life can sometimes overwhelm us. I think the Admins have been doing a tremendous job. DZ has been busy with college and he still finds time to make sure that we as the fans and users of his website is maintained. Steve has been doing very well in making sure that members are behaving and I have seen him around alot.

Now the Mods such as Redeemer and User have been doing very well. The other mods seem to be inactive maybe due to reasons that we do not know, but with 2 mods doing alot of the work it can kinda be overwhelming to them if things get really hectic.

We have 3 really active mods, Red, User and Sara. We have two semi active staff members who are asper and fira, but I was confirmed they did take some time to spend together/vacations. Asper is a really great mod and Fira has worked on things around the forum too, so a break (as long as it's not eternal) it's ok. I'm not sure if Sylum is taking a break or he simply left, I will have to further investigate that. I'll talk with Odd to see if he's still interested enough in SF-O to be part of the staff team.

No worries. I mean, I do see Sara doin stuff, just, no where near as much as User and Red, so I just see her less. I do note she is doin stuff. =3

And yeah, Asper does do stuff, and I do know they were taking some break due to him out of military, or the two seeing each other, or somethin which is understandable, but either way, I just pointing out stuffs I seen. =3 It just seems with how things are going on, that we kinda do need a little extra help if the other mods can't be a little more active in this case. *Shrugs*

Just saying 'I don't think you're doing a good job' doesn't help us improve anything.

I have issues with mods that I have voiced many times, so I never bothered replying here. However, I have to say that Asper/Fira is a problem, and to a lesser extent steve/sera. Couples get very defencive of each other, and that could lead to mod power exploits, as well as questionible desisions on who gets to be mod, although that's a RL problem too.

EDIT- To clarify, couples on staff cause problems and appear as a result of bias. We are seeing this with Asper/Fira now. They on a romantic trip, 2 mods down with no filler.

For the record, I am not going to boot someone for being in the military, being called to active duty, and then wanted to have some personal time when they return. That would be a really shitty thing to do to someone who decided to defend their country.

Well, just to make sure if this was more so directed at me, I am not saying anything wrong with Asper being allowed free time. Whether he defended our country or not isn't the point, but more so, his work and inner life did cause him to need to take a bit of time from both real life, and internet, so him wanting to see his girlfriend or family or just relax is perfectly understandable by all means. I have no problem with that, or saying he should be booted at all!

But in all honesty, as much as I disagree with Saber on many things, I have to slightly agree with his point. Not so much on the Steve and Sara, because it just really has never been an issue, but I do agree with the the Fira and Asper being a small issue overall from the past. Not so much recently, no, but I never really see Fira doing anything still, and Asper for sure has many reasons as to why he wasn't, and this by no means is an attack on Fira, but I simply just don't see her that much, and whenever I do, it is only when Asper is online on SFO for the most part.

I don't think they should be booted at all, and if anyone of the moderation were being thought of to be booted it would mainly, and only, be Odd, as he has only made one post in ever, and really doesn't do anything, and if he still has interest, I just don't see how he does, and then maybe Sylum, as I have never seen him online, in many applications and site at all. Just up and leaving like that with no word of it to things he is a moderator at is definitely not a good sign of faith. =/

Arg, for the 1,000,000,000,000th time, I didn't vote on sara, didn't give the go for mod or anything, she was one of the people who applied for mod position, and she was the one who got most of the votes, she got over the whole "become a mod" process like any other person. I stated this 1,000 times already. 99.9% of the time, when she tells me to help her deal with a problem in the forum, that's not staff related, I always, ALWAYS tell her "no, I'm not going to be biased on the forum" and she has gotten mad at me for doing this.

I did, however, suggested her for the mod position, again, SUGGESTED. And when we have had trouble with her modding duties, I have ALWAYS told other people (mostly User or Red) to give me their output on how to solve whatever the heck is going on, because again, bias. I will gladly take responsibility of my actions if I have been biased, in any way.

Heck, 50% of the reasons for why I argue/fight with sara is because I don't take her side on stuff related to the forum.
Aaand yeah, this is me being defensive :notimpressed:

As for Fire and Asper, I don't know, send me the proofs?

EDIT:

We are going to see if Odd and Sylum will be interested in giving their positions away, unless they decide to become active.

According to Fira's facebook she was in Copenhagen early this morning waiting for her flight back to Toronto. I assume by now that she is back home or still on the flight back. She's been in Norway the past couple of weeks.

Well, I don't doubt Saber will try finding some at all, but I mean, proof of her inactivity is well... How we see lately none of her, with no word at all on the site, lol, or if it is, she puts it somewhere and it somehow gets buried and forgotten. Asper I don't really have a problem with, as he says when he'll be gone, and all the good stuff, just, this is a job, and if people aren't qualified, you don't fire them of course, but defending your close one when they are also the same position as you in the forums is just well, really bad wok ethic, because he did even say that yeah, he had to do stuff for her, and was protecting her because she was his girlfriend. It's honorable, sure, just not really the best when it comes to things like this. The way it seems to be going with You and Sara is much more professional on the site. [And yes, I know no one gets paid and that it doesn't need to be taken with a stick up the ass, but it is still simple to have some professionalism in this].

And to your edit, what if one of them just simply never responds? xP I fear that'll be the case for at the very least one of them. lol.

I think you went a bit extreme with my post there. Never mind. Fluxy did all the heavy lifting. But to repeat, Im not asking for bootings, rather just pointing out the reality of having couples on staff. Hell, it can even be extended to friends. DZs comment about the army is for another time and place.

How come those accusiations about me covering Firas back keep coming back up again? Truth be told, there was only one time I stood up and defended her position. Mostly because I were partially responsible for the shitstorm she had to endure, putting a stringent, unflexible RP system in place she were forced to work within, and postponing the rewamp we all knew was despreately needed.

In any case, that was back around christmas. I have yet to step in the line of fire ever since, seeing my intervention only made it worse. Why does it still seem to be such a big deal?

Me personally, I don't care anymore about that, as it was so long ago in the past, and was simply explaining my point in said process as was asked practically. I was stating on your end that my only small issue was that. And sure, it was a while back, yes. But it wasn't like two years ago, so it is still a worry, since in all, you did state you would protect her again if need be [if I remember correctly, please correct me if I am wrong though{that also was being serious, not a sarcastic remark as some might see it as}]. Yes, we haven't really had any reason for any of the moderators needed to be defended, but I would have assumed that you could respect that you also never said that you also never really gave us much reason to believe that you wouldn't protect your girlfriend from her undone duties and all if it were to happen again.

Now, I really am not trying to make this larger, I am simply explaining as you did ask to hear, and this is on my end. It is a simple worry, yes, but one that is really easy to see happen again, as I don't doubt that there was a second moment as well you defended her mainly as her boyfriend. I am not making an accusation at all, please do not take it that way. All I am merely saying is that we aren't just saying this because we are greedy, or because we are stupid. [At least I'm not].

EDIT: Heck, even as a worry, I don't mean it to sound horrible, It is just more rather a simple case of couples in the work ethic, and almost everyone has their own opinions on that.

Really, I do like you and Fira, please don't take this as an attack at all by any means. And even said before, you two are fine and shouldn't really be taken off the moderation team. It is those that litterally almost never show their face anymore, which happen to be Odd, and Sylum who kinda just got up and left the internet for good.

Sylum confirmed that he's still alive and moving around and stuff. He told me he will be back online as soon as he gets internet. Odd is deciding whether or not he will stay around for mod duties.

Of course, I'm enforcing the mod regulations we have, as in, be fairy active, can't be inactive for over 3 months, and you need to be on good terms with the community.

You don't have to be sorry, or afraid of offending me. So you don't have to metaphorically tip-toe your way around a slumbering beast with a big wall of text. I don't bite, for the most part...

As far as mod duties on SF-O go, if any staff member is neglecting their duties, I won't defend them. I will however retain the right to speak my mind if I think they are wrongfully accused. Same would go if any other member got in trouble for something as well. Sounds good?

You don't have to be sorry, or afraid of offending me. So you don't have to metaphorically tip-toe your way around a slumbering beast with a big wall of text. I don't bite, for the most part...

As far as mod duties on SF-O go, if any staff member is neglecting their duties, I won't defend them. I will however retain the right to speak my mind if I think they are wrongfully accused. Same would go if any other member got in trouble for something as well. Sounds good?

Sounds swell.. ^^;;

All is good in my opinion, I checked "We need to do something about the less active staff members" Because it would not let me continue unless i checked one of those options in the last poll.

Fixed.

Anyways, It's a tough call, but I'm going to demote Odd, he's one of the original members of SF-O, but he hasn't been very active due irl matters. I will, however, consider him as a future staff member again if he decides to become active.
At any rate, head towards the announcement forum, we are holding mod applications.
