Sticking this topic here since I think this is where it fits.

Anyways, here's a thread for ideas to expand the SFOConomy.


The first thing that comes to my mind, is giving some kinda of bonus/source-of-income-other-than-posting to the people that are regulars in our TF2 servers. If providing community participation incentives is the main goal, then it's only natural that people who participate in our TF2 community should get something from the 'Con.

I don't know, it clearly would disadvantage all the non TF2 players I think...

One good thing to reduce money-spamming would be to give ¢¢ only to messages that have more characters than a smiley and such...

I like the idea, but the problem is feasibility. It would be a manual process or would require writing a script to read the HLStats DB, which I don't know if that is possible.

Maybe from time-to-time we could have a ¢¢ day on the server. Any forum member who shows up that day gets ¢¢.

I again put forth my suggestion that less active boards maybe be worth more than more active ones. That would discourage people just spamming in active threads and instead trying to actually put forth meaningful discussion. Maybe.

Well I dun post around too much, and even with Rec Room post only being worth half, I can see myself falling very far behind to those who just go back-and-forth in the Rec all day long. I'd like to keep options and alternatives open.

Perhaps every schedule day be worth ¢¢? Like, one of our game server admins takes a note (or someone volunteers to do it) of who shows up and such. Not like it has to be worth a huge amount, but enough to encourage people and add up quickly for consistent showers.

Not a bad idea. I need to dig in the admin CP for stats, though. I want to have numbers behind the idea.

The only thing at this point that you would need lots of ¢¢ for is for the investments, esp. stocks.

The secret to earning money off boards is to create good threads. Threads pay you ¢¢2 per reply. A hot thread can easily go over 100 posts. That's ¢¢200 right there.

Does this apply to already existing threads? Because if someone makes a game thread in the Rec-Room that goes on for 100s of post... yeah. Now that I think of it, you should probably get rid of the reply pay-out for Rec threads.

an idea well probaly lame but....Flash games on the website to get some cash but should be challenging like... so many points = X amount of cash
because you dont want people to get tons of money by just playing the flash games...

There should be a way for members to purchase/sell goods amongst one another. That way, its more interesting to see what people would buy or sell nothing of actual financial worth, but a little time and effort.

Given this, can I request the Bronies unite thread moved to the lounge instead of the rec room. It's not just an image/video dump topic, as genuine discussion will take place inside amongst bronies, as will sharing of fanart and the keeping up-to-date on the fandom news.
