James McCloud...in the flesh?!

Points like these is why I think Star Fox should have a comic adaptation, personally. I don't think it's quite enough material to justify a full game, but it does need to be addressed, and I've always liked the Star Fox comics...

I agree. I think the only real plausible way to go about backtracking and filling in holes is through a comic. I mean, the only real worry I would have with comic form is that the writers obviously can discount anything to make new canon. As much as I would love to play a prequel Star Fox, I'm not sure how well something like this would translate into a game.

Yeah. It wouldn't be too hard to have a short STAR FOX: ORIGINS series or something where the express purpose is to fill in the often backstory-related problems that everyone keeps referring to. The thing about these backstories is that they don't need a full story and, ergo, a full game, to explain them, so the short issue-by-issue comic format seems the most sensible.

Would you like me to give a long and intricately detailed concept prospectus statement? Given enough time and effort, I probably could, but I'd rather not, because that would be a mindless chore.

No, because we both know I wouldn't read it. :-P

That right there is the highlight of my day...definetly sig. worthy.

On topic...Perhaps James doesn't have to die at the end of this game. Maybe it could be devoted to glorifying his life events then ending with the EPIC birth of fox?

Okay, am I the only one who just imagined the birthing scene from Twilight, but with Fox being born instead?

^So tempted to quote something from that. SO TEMPTED.

Even if this game ended in a happy ending, it would still be sad to me. Because we all know the perfect life that James, or rather YOU, worked hard for would be flushed down the toilet just years later. :c

A prequel would actually be fascinating, if done right. I'd love to see a game featuring James McCloud and that time period. Maybe it'd explain his brief appearance in Star Fox 64 and other titles. I'd love to know what actually happened.

While it would definitely be interesting to have insight into the origins of the Star Fox storyline the game would have to be done right. Knowing Nintendo's track-record when it comes to Star Fox games I think it's safer to hope that the series' plot-line doesn't get any more screwed than it already is. :)

I'm really thinking Retro is working on Star Fox…… if they do make a Star Fox game, I think they're going to do it right. And having a prequel level/complete reboot from the beginning will probably happen.

Anyone else think this? It just seems right to me. Either an unofficial reboot or a prequel…

A prequel, while an awesome concept, is dicey in practice, as has been discussed. If anyone could pull it off though, it'd be Retro.

But I'm holding my breath; It's too early still to squee. There's no guarantee this heavily rumored/almost confirmed game would even be a retcon or reboot at all.

it better be though

otherwise the only direction i can really see it headed was the horrifying "Star Fox: Generations" prediction

Its a given that probably anything nintendo makes is gonna screw up the storyline, if not, then my hat's off to them :/

Nintendo themselves aren't the reason why the past couple games kind of sucked, though.
