Vy'drach
http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/121/1217257p1.html Apparently, Microsoft is entertaining the idea of making their next box have a system where used games won't work on it at all. thehorrar
I don't understand... Look at how much money PSN is making from re-releasing older games in HD... So why is Xbox just throwing anything that's not their latest of hardware to the dirt? That's just a shitty move, if you ask me.
CrypticQuery
That's absolutely ridiculous. While I usually don't purchase used games it seems that all future collectability will be destroyed, as well as those who are unable to constantly shell out $60+ per video game. Micro$oft sure knows how to screw their consumers if this is true.
Deploy
Giving consumers LESS freedom with the stuff they buy! What a GREAT idea to further and revolutionize the world of gaming. >.>
The Shaper
I may hardly use my own Xbox 360 anymore but if this indeed does turn out to be true that will throw out any plan of me buying that console. If they are going to get my money I better be able to buy used games too.
Icy
Microsoft has always been like this. Just look at that bill you get every month/year. It's something called an "Xbox LIVE subscription", something other companies have for FREE. Paying to play a game online is ridiculous, but they did it. And they succeeded in making people pay for it, too. (Can you even imagine the money some people spent on Call of Duty Elite, those ridiculous MW3 headphones, Xbox Live, and the $60 game? Yeah. I'd rather get DLC later for $$ on PS3 than all that.) Don't be surprised if people start paying $60 for NEW games only too. Just so they can play on the AWESOME XBOX OMG. It's basically the same deal that paying for online is. Anyway, not surprised since this is coming from Microsoft. You should also not be surprised if other companies (Sony, Nintendo) start doing this, if/when Microsoft is successful. No reason not to then. No offense to people who like the Xbox. It's just ridiculous with its moneymoneymoney…

Icy
Because they're Microsoft! Just like how they get a month of exclusivity on all CoD DLC. And PS3 CoD Elite members still get shafted. Yet they STILL get it earlier than PC and PS3 non-Elite members. Microsoft, Microsoft, so annoying.
Robert Monroe
You know. I just realized. Wouldn't this put a big fat hole in rental profits?
Vy'drach
Yep, but I reckon they figure they could coerce people to actually buy said games new rather than rent or buy used, and apparently haven't thought of the fact that people simply wouldn't buy their console consider their exclusives are negligible.

jeth
If this happens I WILL NOT buy the Xbox 3, I buy 99% of my games used and if I owned an xbox that can't play used games I might as well just stop playing video games all togethe. This is complet bull crap.
