No law have passed yet but this is a hot debate here yes.

As a matter of facts, it would refer to social situations, more that absolute laws. Like when you go pick you kids at school, when you go voting, when you drive...

They already do that. There's an ordinance in my city that you can't wear stilettos on Airport Blvd. There's a good reason for it, because there are metal grates around the trees, and you might get stuck, fall, then sue the city.

More often than not there's usually a "cover our asses" reason cities make these kinds of rules.

Oh my god I totally read about this on a segment for weirdest laws in the US. I forget what show it was on, but I know of it to be true!

Local Leaders in my community have decided to issue an ordinance that prohibits wearing pants more than 3 inches off the hip... any violation is punished by a $50 dollar fine-- effective immediately. Wait, wait, WATE, they can do that?

This might be a little different, I wonder if it has any relations to city public debt and state debt? Take a look at the National Debt Clock's website: http://www.usdebtclock.org/index.html on the top right side of the screen where it says local/state revenue and debt. Pretty interesting eh?

That they are board enough to want create laws to make money out of this? To 'pay off their debt' So when public officials (law informant officers) see you wear baggy pants that is considered inappropriate to them they want to charge you! Hehe, welcome to your new America! But also wouldn't that jeopardize businesses that create these popular clothes? When bad laws put pressure on these stores? Just another thought to consider.

The federal government should be out of this matter for sure, TSA! That's right! Can't forget about TSA when they get into your personal lives patting down your pants at the security checkpoints. Violation to the 4th and 10th amendment powers!

Back to the pants situation, States and local city levels should decide on dress codes by the 10th amendment from the constitution. So if the people do not like their personal dress codes being violated, they could create a legal bill to abolish that bad bill (city counsels to senators in the State). Petitions! Don't forget that they can do that too.

Me personally I don't like baggy pants but I respect those who choose to wear them. QUARTER SLOT!

Anyway, I'm pretty sure people pushed for those laws due to personal squeamishness. I mean who wants to have to see a guy with his underwear hanging out when you're out in public?

I sure don't...but my problem comes in when they tell me that I will be fined if i'm caught with what they think is pants to low...it's starting to sound more and more like a money scheme targeted a sub-culture of folks who feel like wearing there bottoms a few inches below the waste :|
