Star Fox Runner
I was thinking about something the other day. Most of you probably know about the National Film Registry in The Library of Congress, it's a preservation registry that picks to preserve films that are "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant films". It got me thinking, seeing how video games are now a major media outlet, and are on the rise as a storytelling medium, do you think that maybe, a few years down the road, there should be a preservation registry for significant video games like The National Film Registry? If so, what games do you all think should be put on the list? The ones I can think of off the top of my head, just to name a few, would probably be......... Myst, Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda, Resident Evil, Ocarina of Time, Metroid Prime, Half Life 2, Super Mario 64. (Feel free to debate me on these ones if you'd like.) Dublinthefox
If so, it would have to be games that have made a huge impact. The ones I can think of on the top of my head would be: Dragon Warrior, Super Metroid, Super Mario 64, Final Fantasy VII, Street Fighter 2, Mortal Kombat, Grand Theft Auto III, Portal, Donkey Kong and Goldeneye. CrypticQuery
While there should be games that had a large impact, rarer titles should also be included. Games that were only released in a single country and had a limited run, for example.
DoctorAllosaurus
All games need to be preserved, I don't care how bad or good they are.

Rik McCloud
For me, these: Tekken 6 You mean you actually managed to last more than a few cutscenes of that unbearably awful pink haired android pretend girl thing?! She was the reason I traded Tekken 6 in. Personal favourite of the series is Tekken 4. Spent many hours playing it.
Deploy
I agree. This should be made. I think video games are big enough in society at this point to make it happen.
