Ok SF-O users I decided to do an official poll here because I want Rathore to see the numbers here but not just the numbers but your opinions towards his project as well. If you are reading this Rathore please take serious considerations from the SF fans thanks.

I myself still want to see a cool SF movie. But I don't know about Rathore.

Not sure if this is really needed.

If you really want him to see this, you should leave a link on his facebook page. Since he is one of those "talented genius people" he'll be able to read opinions in the other thread and, hopefully, be able to count.

I'll move this to the poll topic. Guys, please don't make this a "let's slam Rathore" topic, okay?

I don't think a successful Star Fox movie is even a possiblity; there are too many ways to go about the universe and you risk alienating part of the fanbase regardless of how things eventually do go. Dark and gritty is usually looked down upon, general audiences may be turned off by furries in space, and it is a concept in which no single person will be completely satisfied.

It has yet to be proven that a good video game movie can even be made, I would rather Starfox's rather long list of blunders not get even longer.

About Rathore's project, all the threads about it have already said our opinions, so let him check them out.

About a Starfox movie, why not, but Crazyfooinc is right : too many possibilities to interprate the SF universe and none of them to please everyone. Why isn't there a "I don't know" answer in the poll?

What could be great is to have SF on comic books, they already did it with Fox before and Zelda got some recently. But there will still be that you cannot please all SF fans at the same time.

Please stop mentioning Rathore, he's like a fairy: he only exists if you believe in him.

That being said, a Star Fox movie would be great, but there are so many criteria meet for it to work and I have faith in very few people to accomplish this. It's an animated science fiction video game adaptation with somewhat contradictory subject matter (cute animals in war). This is very high budget and high risk, and would be difficult to gain funding for because of that.

Not to mention, the movie would not be "for the fans" per se; it would have to start from the ground up, hopefully including homages and the same feel that drew the original fans to the game, but for the revenue they'd have to make to break even they would have to draw in a new audience. This means, yes, it would have to retcon the story and probably gear it towards a family demographic and not "people who want to see animated fox tits".

Television is probably a safer bet, IMHO.

The idea of a well-done Star Fox movie still gives me chills, but it would have to fall into a very specific set of perametres to be pulled off correctly.

Agreed. It would be rather tricky, and need to have the right handlers. Rathore's I would not like to see published, but one that told the original story, and kept it fairly simple and linear. The exact opposite of many fanfics out there, I hate to say. Not to shamelessly plug my own fan fic, but read " Star Fox Genesis" its getting rather good!

Here you go

I'm not sure if he still has the entire goddamned film treatment online, but he is throwing a temper tantrum at a couple lovely ladies for asking him a question on the wall.

You...liar.. Why these lies?....If that's true WHERE IS MY GODDAMN FAIRY? D:

CUTE ANIMALS IN WAR.

That's exactly the problem. Diminish either of these elements and you can't even call it Star Fox.

I do believe children and young teenagers would fall in love with the characters, at least. It's rather easy to market characters like Fox and Falco as the cool, badass, rogue-ish heroes and their villain versions in form of Wolf and Leon. And Slippy..oh man is Slippy good for marketing means. He's cute, with a good heart and a talented yet akward character. But damn... extenuate the fact that this is all in the middle of a war and it's incredibly akward and unbelievable. Make the war scenario more realistic and you can forget about the kids. AND the adults because there's still dem sillay sillay animuls. The war thingie is my biggest problem.

Selling the simple/superficial/first step IDEA of Star Fox might not pose a very big challenge. So I'm very convinced you really can do something with Star Fox for a big audience but..really..what about the actual subject matter and tone of the movie? This is where we hit a brick wall.

It can work. The animals are cute, but not that cute. Slippy is jsut a little plucky and awkward, and Peppy is wise and venerable. As long as Falco and Fox arent too " dark and bad ass" it could work as a movie

Like I've pointed out before, Titan A.E. is a film that feels the closest to Star Fox content and maturity wise. The problem is that Titan A.E., despite being a good flick IMO, completely bombed.

It also doesn't help that the animated film industry is just dicking itself around.

People didn't really know what to expect when Titan A.E. came out though. It was marketed as a kids movie and then there are instances of cartoon violence that probably freaked parents out. Then word of mouth, mom to mom, and no kids were taken to see it.

But yeah. A Star Fox movie, unfortunately, wouldn't do well in theatres >:

CUTE ANIMALS IN WAR.

Its entirely possible to have a cute aesthetic theme in a heavily violent context, and vice versa, its just difficult and people refuse to do anything but the bare minimum when coorperate suits are involved that have no idea what they're pumping money into with the exception of the fact that they are pumping money into it. This is why modern society fails, all the people in higher social or economical standing suck, with the exception of Jim Carrey,

*EDIT* and the Mojang team.

Personally I don't think there should be a Star Fox movie at all, I mean look what happened with Mario and Doom.

Granted, I will admit it would have been awesome if we got an animated cartoon back around when SF1 came out, but that chance is now long gone. At least we have a pretty good comic and the Bucky O'Hare cartoon which is very similar to Star Fox (at least the SNES games and comic anyway.)

And yes Dras, I gotta agree with you as a Don Bluth fan myself, Titan A.E. was actually pretty good despite it bombing at the box office.

As far as "cute animals in war" goes, this happened and the short based on it won a VES Award. So cute animals doing bad things is not outside the realm of possibility. Cat Shit One/Apocalypse Meow was a bit more extreme in the contrast between "cute" and "war" though.

I honestly see Star Fox working as a television show that behaves like a crossbreed of Storm Hawks and Avatar: The Last Airbender.

TV series I could see working, especially if they bring the guys from Storm Hawks back to do it, they did an amazing job with that series even if barely anyone watched it (and i still fail to see why)

This thread seems awfully familar to me....

Dat being said-- If a movie were ever to be made then i would prefer a PG rated story with cutting-edge animation styles...yeh I don't think any big-time animation company is going to want to touch that project, considering the cost and the risks. And Nintendo isn't going to just hand out its rights to any small budgeted freelancer (poke, poke, poke) So if fans are serious about a movie somebody is going to have to pull sum strings and convince a producer to put this on corporate's desk.

I think a StarFox movie would work IF they got a good director, but I'm not so sure about Irwin's project, could be good, could suck.

I think a Starfox tv series could work, with the same good writing and characterization thundercats revampt and avatar last airbender had. It would depened in large part on directers creativity though. The Starfox games are rather linear, and that would need to be spiced up some.

The director doesn't have a lot of control over most television shows, actually. It'd be up to a showrunning executive producer. There would be several writers, several directors, and in a few ways it's a safer route to go than a film being that it's initially less expensive.

Sorry, I know this poll is a little old, but I feel I need to express my opinion, as a fellow fan of the series.

I honestly think Mr. Rathore has a funny name, and that's alright. But he has gone to college and studied..film production I think? And done all this so he could fulfill his dream for making a Star Fox movie. Odds are, it probably wouldn't be successful, and Nintendo even declined his request to let him be able to make the movie. But he's not stopping at that, he's just doing everything he can to make this a possible thing. I don't think they would ever actually make a Star Fox movie, but Mr. Rathore's idea is better than nothing, right? At least Star Fox would get somewhat of a recognition out of this movie. I really don't think that he should throw it out on the big screen until he sees what kind of a reaction it would get, so maybe he should make a movie, then put it on the internet, or some private place to let certain people watch, and see what they think. Let them be real fans of the series.

I also disagree with some of his ideas for the movie, such as not making it a CGI movie. But I did hook him up with the voice of Fox McCloud from Star Fox 64, via Facebook. So there's some progress? Maybe. Still, it's not a completely horrible idea, just a simple fan trying to fulfill his dream in life.

I think only given the perfect circumstances that I cannot see, there should be a StarFox movie. I would be wildly excited to see something great come out in theaters that features StarFox and would definitely go see it.

That being said, I cannot fathom how it would be done. The only way to draw a larger audience I feel is to give it a grittier and darker tone, but this comes at the cost of current fans (possibly) and the possible younger fanbase that Nintendo seems to cater to mostly.

One would run into the furry issue/stigma very quickly if they were to try and make any movie that involved Krystal. That's pretty much unavoidable, yet it might be unavoidable NOT having some sort of romantic deal going on in a movie. After all, it can't all be about blowing up space monkeys and bio-techno stuff.

I also fear the idea of putting cute animals in a war scenario, without giving them the gritty almost fearsome demeanor (but somehow also not incite a gag reflex from the audience as their suspension of disbelief is ruptured). I can't right off the top of my head picture another movie or TV show that has pulled it off so I can't really imagine how it would be done.

I still remain excited at the idea of it happening, but my gut feeling tells me it would be a disaster that would ruin StarFox for years to come....I could be wrong though.
