Underrated Video Games

A couple I forgot to mention:

Conker: Live & Reloaded

Twisted Metal 3 & 4

To be quite frank, I thought Bad Fur Day was incredibly overrated in spite of the excellent multiplayer. Even though the multiplayer in L&R is significantly different, it was still a ton of fun - this was why everybody hated it.

As for Twisted Metal, I don't have much to say. I thought 3 & 4 were better than 1 & 2. I can't really put my finger on why...I guess it's just one of those things.

Here's my list (in no particular order). These games deserve much more credit than what they already get.

Croc: Legend of the Gobbos - PS1

Base Wars - NES

Insaniquarium Deluxe - PC

Kid Klown in Crazy Chase - SNES

Prinny 2: Dawn of Operation Panties, Dood! - PSP

Games Already Mentioned

Glover - N64/PS1

Star Fox Assault - GC

Chibi-Robo! - GC

Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure.

I know, this is kind of a not-so-good attempt to bring back the old Spyro fame, but the gmeplay is quite nice.

However they really could have just made the game as the latest one in the original Spyro series instead of a new series

I'm not trying to troll Skylanders, but 70$ for the game, then an extra 8$ for ONE more character is compleet bull-crap. Sorry if this is a little :offtopic:

Gex 2, Gex 64, and Gex 3 are all great games that are quite underrated. Gex 1 just sucked though.

Sins of a Solar Empire: I don't hear about it much, but it's one of the most expansive RTS games I've played.

ARMA 2: Yeah, anyone who knows me saw this one coming. I don't hear anything about it from people who don't play it, but it's probably one of the most realistic FPS games out there. It's like Battlefield on steroids.

Torcs: As far as driving simulators go, it's hard to beat this game with physics. However, the graphics are... Quite lacking.

From a poster on ponychan, for da lulz.

Arma and Flashpoint in a nutshell

I knew this valley would be a deathtrap. Rolling grass for six hundred meters, high tree line perches on the perimeter, moonlight glare turning helmets into fireflies – this is a sniper’s hunting trail, and I just ordered my men into the heart of it. But there’s no point in being hard on myself. I had no choice. Our birds were on their way. The only way to provide cover was to cross the valley and take out the SAMs. We almost made it. We could have made it. Even with death looming from every direction, I suppressed the snipers long enough for my squad to sprint into cover. Sure, my efforts rewarded me with a bullet to the chest, but the blow shouldn’t have been fatal. From the blackened tree canopy, my boys flanked the snipers to open a clear path for our medic to patch me up. But he never arrived. He didn’t take a bullet of his own, and he didn’t freeze up from panic. As I lay there bleeding out, I could see he was stuck on a boulder, running aimlessly in place, unaware that his current path was taking him nowhere. It wasn’t a bullet that killed me. It was a *** bug.

I've got a few.

Journey to Silius (NES) - A Mega Man like game, that is pretty underrated.

Alien Hominid (GC, PS2, XBLA) - Started off as a game on Newgrounds, but the console ports are quite a bit better.

That's it for now, until I can think of more. lol

So true. *sigh*

The medics in Arma are always bugging out. They rarely ever heal me even if they're right next to me.

Beyond Good and Evil. I discovered that game last year and it was AMAZING.

Pity it didn't do so well at the time.

AAAHHH Glover!!!

I think that game got 1000% more fun with the cheats actually. Still a great game I will give you that.

I thought about throwing Advanced Wars out there but I figured it was as popular of a game as Golden Sun...but perhaps that was just me really liking that game that much.

I will have to think of other games that I have played that are considered "underrated". I am apparently the kind of person who sticks with the well appreciated games. Though, from what I can tell by a couple people here I really need to get a hold of a copy of StarFox Adventures...or get a better computer to emulate Dolphin on it (any suggestions there would be great actually)

I think Sonic and the Black Knight, Sonic and the Secret Rings, Star Fox Assault, Sonic Unleashed, and Sonic the Hedgehog ('06) were all great games, but everyone seems to hate them. Not entirely

Star Fox Assault, but I know for a fact that alot of people dislike it because it has more on ground shooting than it does Arwing flying, and I do agree that it should have had more Arwing based levels, but over all, it was still a great game. I didn't care too much for them sacrificing the Great Fox, as supposedly switching to that uh, what was it? Hold on, I'll just Google it.

Ah, here it is, the Decommissioned Cornerian Assault Carrier. I honestly wasn't too thrilled with Command, but that's my opinion. But I can see why Sonic and the Black Knight would be hated, it's not every day you see Sonic the Hedgehog with a Sword. But still, if you're a real fan, I think, you would see the best in the game. Same with Sonic and the Secret Rings. I think the controls on that game are terrible, but the games sequel has the analog stick, so controls were much better. They were both for the Wii, I forgot to mention. Also, I can see why Sonic Unleashed was hated, for the time being, I thought the daytime levels were awesome, with Generations' being much better. But the Werehog's levels were terrible. Sonic isn't a fighter. This is why the game is seen to be a failure by many. And I'll admit, Sonic '06 was terrible, but I somehow seemed to like it. Plus, the game introduced Silver, who hasn't been in a Story related game since, unless you count Generations as part of the Canon.

Another one I forgot to bring up.

Still one of the best FPSs I've played in spite of it's short length.

A bit late here, but I love the Legacy of Kain games, and they're definitely underrated. I just played through Soul Reaver in fact.

Underrated games:

Metal Arms: Glitch in the System (Ps2)

Goblin Commander (Ps2, GC)

Ratchet and Clank series (Maybe not too underrated but I don't hear too much about them.)

Legend of the Dragoon (Ps1)

S.L.A.I (Ps2)

Total Annihilation (PC)

Total Annihilation: Kingdoms (PC)

Master of Orion 1 & 2

Here's a few I believe to be great:

- Star Fox series (spans wide range of Nintendo consoles, obviously)

- Star Wars: Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight (DOS/Mac/PSX)

- Star Wars: Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast (PC/Mac/NGC/XBOX)

- Star Wars: Jedi Kngiht III: Jedi Academy (PC/Mac/XBOX) (listed separately due to exclusion of one other game in the series)

- Motorhead (PSX/PC/PSN)

- SoulEdge (JPN) SoulBlade (Elsewhere) (Arcade/PSX/PSN)

- Spyro 2: Gateway to Glimmer (PSX/PSN) (People think its a great game, but its overlooked compared to the other games in the series)

- Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds (PC)

- Command & Conquer (Tiberian Dawn) (PC/PSX/PSN)

Just thought I'd say a few of those. I'm not sure about any OVERrated games though.

Future Tactics (GC, Ps2, Xbox)

Forgot about this one, that game's storyline was amazing and the gameplay was pretty damn hard, a welcomed challenge.
