Icy
@Dras: Penumbra is a series made by Frictional Games (the people who did Amnesia) so you might want to check first and make sure it'll run, since Amnesia won't. That is, if you decide to get one of them. They're very scary supposedly. A lot of puzzle solving, scares, dark tunnels, etc. A lot like Amnesia (if you've watched gameplay) but a lot different as well. I've never played them but I've watched some gameplay. Considering Amnesia is already quite creepy, and Penumbra has big spider chases, I don't really think I'll be playing them anytime soon. Scratches? My sister has it, and I've watched her play it. It's a point & click game, not the typical kind, though. A little different. It's kind of creepy, but not really scary. It's more of a creepy mystery than it is a horror/scare game. And wow, this Ao Oni game is interesting to me as well……… hmm.
Drasiana
Good call on making sure the graphics card will work, if they're the same developers. Sounds pretty neat though.
Cavemonkynick
I know you weren't sold on the first Dead Space but you should try the second one. The story is much better and the gameplay is smoother. I know it may fall under the zombie category but I'd say it's worth a play.
Drasiana
It's not that I disliked it, it just ceased to be scary after the first half an hour. I haven't played the sequel, but while it might be a good game, it isn't necessarily what I'm looking for at the moment.
Geo Stelar
You have a PC, right? Try searching for Hotel 626. :)
Cavemonkynick
In that case, I'd like to second Steve's recommendation of Alan Wake.
Vy'drach
Oh, how could I forget this, as well. You can legitimately download "The Suffering" for the PC, as it was turned into freeware. Essentially, you play a new death row inmate named Torque, who was accused and found guilty of murdering his wife and children. He, however, has no recollection of anything. Shortly after you arrive, all Hell breaks lose as monsters based on the horrific past of the island the prison start appearing, and killing the inhabitants. So you must escape, unravel the events of your past, and make it off the island alive, while confronting your inner demons. Depending on choices you make, the game has different endings. It is very much an action game, is quite bloody, and boasts the record for most swear words through it, but it does have quite a few psychological elements, and it is free. Something I forgot to mention, though I doubt it'd make a difference for you, is that the creatures in this game were designed by the late, great, Stan Winston. The same man that is responsible for the design of the Predator, the Alien, the Terminator, Pumpkinhead, the dinosaurs in Jurassic Park, and the Dog Thing in John Carpenter's The Thing, and many, many more. Fire Yoshi
Silent Hill 3 for the PC? That is, if you enjoy seeing seeing things like this.
Thundercracker
Dead Space 2 is supposed to be the scariest. From what I've heard. But I honestly believe any of the Silent Hill games are supposed to be horrifying, so take your pick. I would try Dead Space first though, them Silent Hill, but whatever man, it's your pick. Also, they're not very scary, but I know F.E.A.R #'s 1 - 3 are supposed to be kinda scary. Hope this helps.
