StarFox-a-Fest

Its actually pretty easy from what I understand. Just got to have a wire stripper, electrical tape, and a bit of time. Turns out the wires in a Xbox controller almost match up completely with a USB.

While electrical tape would work if applied properly if you know anyone with soldaring equipment I'd suggest using that, you'd get a better connection.

I hope someday Nintendo decides to release some sort of StarFox super package (either virtual/digital or disc-based is fine with me!) that includes all the games including this unreleased game. It is a ton of fun to play and it is very different from the other StarFox games I've played. I am an SF2 fanboy. ;)

Ups to the idea of releasing an entire packaged deal of StarFox games...maybe when the next game comes out!

I get a feeling if they made a digital copy of that I would go out and buy about a dozen hard drives and set them up in RAID setups and backup the software....so I will nevah lose it :-)

User,

I could probably come up with some soldering equipment myself, but wouldn't soldering the connections together allow for a relatively weak point to break? I have never had a good experience with soldering wires in headphones or other cables as the points it was soldered at usually broke and caused problems - but that could be because I am a noob at soldering haha.

  • 2 weeks later...

I started playing Adventures during the weekend and might not be able to return to it for a while :( ...But i have to admit I am in love with the game. The graphics, the character development, the 'Rareware feel'. Wish there was more games like SFA.

Well sadly I probably wont be able to get around to playing it again till next week :/ . Though I will be joining this segment (and possibly Assault if you could find a way of making it interesting lol) in spirit!

As I said, I just can't get over how awesome the graphics were on SFA - I feel it seriously put to shame the work Namco did in Assault in almost every way outside of the Arwing. How do you capture images from your game console? I don't imagine you holding up a camera to the television screen and snapping shots :-P . Also, I never really found out how one even posts content from their personal computers to this website for that matter.

Well i'll be...I wasn't paying close enough attention to the pictures xD

I just looked through the pictures, sighed in nostalia and move on haha. Couldn't you have used print screen for the emulator? Or I guess you might have been playing fullscreen for the complete effect (or, is it default to full screen? I still haven't tried playing with Zsnes).

Ah, I thought we were able to upload to the website. I knew we had to use URLs for most of the media content here, but I thought some of the images could have been uploaded directly from the computer. We should get a FTP server set up for SFO so we can host all kind of stuff! :D

I can't really picture a set up for a capture card that would work without plugging it into a computer - and the last time I tried that....sooooo....slooooow.....

OH MY GAWD....

StarFox Adventures is AWE-SOME. I absolutely love it. I mean, I can see that it isn't the most amazing game ever created but it is just prefect for me right now. I can appreciate a game for what it is and this game is just hitting the spot for me. I am so glad I decided to play all these games.

Wait...

I haven't read the full thread, but you've never played it before this?

Oh and good luck with the rest of this marathon. I may try to join in by doing something but I've been so busy. v:

Glad you liked it as much as me. :D

Strangely, the change in voices bothers me a whole lot more in 3D than Adventures.

Yeah, same here...

Lol, do you get the feeling while playing that game that you aren't really playing a Star Fox game? I just couldn't figure out whether I was playing Zelda, or a Banjo Kazooie game - I agree it definitely isn't some ground breaking game and never was, but I can't help but want to play it through already! I think I decided I need to buy a used Wii so I can play it on my freetime instead of bumming off my brother and sister's console.

I still await a awesome idea for making playing through Assault a lengthy and (more) fun experience. The game time on it is criminally short and lacking as far as challenge goes :/

Well I'm ashamed to say that StarFox 64 is the only game I've really played before. I played it all the time as a kid. During this marathon I have played StarFox 2 (the unreleased SNES sequel) for the first time as well as actually completing StarFox 1 for the first time. I'm trying not to hurry too much through Adventures, but I will be playing Assault and Command after this.

Oh trust me, that's fine. I have that problem with so many game series I like that it's troubling where to begin with me. So many you just pop in and go "Yeah, I'll play this!" and then five minutes later you're terrible at it and go "...you know I still haven't beat ___" or maybe that's just my story.

At least with Command you'll be use to using a DS to control thanks to SF3DS. I should actually try that game on my 3DS sometime (command)...

I also set a new high score in StarFox 64...

oooh...we should totally do something on SF-O where we see who can get the highest score on SF64...STAY BACK ITS MY IDEA!!! :D

And an excellent idea it is at that my good Lord...............O Donnell. I am dying for someone to play some StarFox with me! I feel like such a loser in this thread! :-)

I would certainly be more than willing to step up to the challenge and post some score pics. One thing I can say is that StarFox 64 is still a load of fun to play.

Oh man, I have been trying to play SF 64 3D and apparently I suck at playing the game now :( Only map I got a badge on lately was Fichina. I have been keeping up with your thread and been playing along with it - I just don't have time to dedicate much time to it. I am jealous of your ability to do a StarFox-a-fest.

I agree with the call for a hall of fame for SF64 / 3D. I figure it would be easy to set up a pinned forum and just have people post. Every screen captured high score gets some credits?

Haha, I have a feeling that signature you just picked up being a new favorite around here

Hah! And you think I contribute much to the real world :P

Nah its just been a nightmare recently with trying to move into the house finally. I have horrible taste so I ended up picking some god awful curtains for the living room (I wanted to try and conceal the fact I would have a TV in there in case someone wanted to go snooping around the windows) so I ended up having to drive to another city to return the things, then spend time picking out another set of curtains that were better. The worst part of that was the fact I was shopping for them with my roommate who is gay...it was somewhat awkward. I had to go spend a gob of money on a washer and dryer...just so many things ugh...I haven't had time to just sit and do something I want to for the past week or so. I am a simple person too, so when I don't get to have my time writing all over SFO I start to get a bit stir crazy lol.

I'm not proud of my lack of game time! I still get beaten by level 9 opponents on SSBB and I find it unacceptable! I must practice more! I also can't score any higher than 900 points on StarFox 64 so I need to work on that too! Especially if we get a thread dedicated towards scores. I have to get a better grip for the 3DS, it cramps my hands terrible holding it as it is. I have to agree that SF64 certainly has the best replay value of all the games. I love Adventures, but its sort of that game that you take time to beat and then put away, Assault had no serious challenge or rewarding aspect to getting a high score...I have been keeping my eye open for a copy of Command (not surprisingly, I can't find it) but I have a feeling the game play will be even less rewarding.

Heh, I was sitting around the dinner table today with my family when they were telling jokes about how "the world wont end in 2012, because..." and I felt like saying "the world wont end in 2012 because Nintendo has yet to put out another game as epic as StarFox 64 and a refuse to die until it happens!"
