Thundercracker
I'm not sure if there was already a topic of this, but if there was, I'm sorry, but I couldn't find it. Anyways, this is probably the best fighting game out there, already being about 5 years old, it's still at top price on the shelves of video game retailers. Who's your Favorite character? Who's your best character? What's your favorite level? Who do you think is the hardest to beat on Level 9? What is your greatest achievement on that game? Mine would have to be... Sonic is my favorite character. Fox is my best character. My favorite level is Eldin Bridge. Marth is the hardest to beat on Lv. 9, IMO. Probably beating the Great Maze in Subspac Emissary. How about you guys?
CrypticQuery
-Fox is my favorite character, and consequently my best character as well. -My favorite level would probably be Pictochat; I'm not entirely sure why, but it was always fun to play on that stage IMO. -I'm not entirely sure who's hardest to beat on lvl 9; I always found them somewhat challenging yet easy if you play things right. -Unlocking all the characters through the "Brawl" mode instead of through the story mode was a great achievement for me. Oh, and here's a nice tidbit for you. It is indeed possible to play as Master Hand in Super Smash Bros Melee on Gamecube, see the video on GameTrailers below; http://www.gametrailers.com/video/episode-3-pop-fiction/713735 [Pop Fiction on GameTrailers is a great series BTW; they've got tons more myths debunked and proved. ]

Geo Stelar
Meta Knight (or Sonic, I couldn't choose between the two) is my fave character. Almost 2 years have passed since I last played the game, but my best character then was either Fox or Toon Link Favorite level? Final destination If I remember correctly I also ad a hard time on Marth in level 9 And, my greatest achievement so far is using Wolf's Final Smash to K.O. 2 of my enemies twice and the other 1 once, right before the red landmaster disappeared. EDIT: Added Toon link to to my best characters. Edited April 2, 2012 by Geo Prime

Xortberg
My favorite character is the random button. Really, I just love playing the game, and luckily I'm good enough that I can hang with the people I play with using pretty much everyone. My best? Marth or Wolf. My Wolf really fell out of practice over the longass time it's been since I played, but Marth is as good as ever. Favorite stages are Battlefield, Final Destination, and the Pirate Ship. So much lulz in that last one. And lastly, my greatest achievement has to be the time when I, playing Captain Falcon (who is, unfortunately, terribad in this game), managed to beat Milky's Metaknight, who is the best character last I checked. Granted, he rarely ever touches the guy, but you don't need to be a good Metaknight to be a good Metaknight. Oh, and there was that time I was Toon Link against Milky's Ganondorf, on the Delfino Plaza. The stage had changed to the area with the pillars, and I had high damage. Milky hit my with his downair three times, spiking me to my doom each time, but each time I managed to tech off the side of one of the pillars and keep fighting. I died soon after, and I think I lost that match anyway, but I won completely anyway.
Dublinthefox
These are my answers: Q1: Who's your Favorite character? -Either Fox, Wolf or Pit Q2: Who's your best character? -Either Fox or Pit Q3: What's your favorite level? -I'd have to go with either Final Destination or Q4: Who do you think is the hardest to beat on level 9? -I'd say Marth. Q5: What is your greatest achievement on that game? -Going through Boss battle mode on Hard mode.
thunderflare
My favorite character is Fox this is how I got into starfox from melee The characters I do the best as are Fox, Wolf, and Ike (depends on what kind of mood I'm in) For a favorite level I would choose Lylet Cruise or the Battleship Halberd I think the hardest charater at level 9 was Toon Link (I need to play against all the characters at level 9 in 1 vs. 1) Greatest achievement unlocking all the character (to play as them in vs. mode)
Fluxy
Who's your Favorite character?: Kirby. Just look how happy he is. I wanna be that happy. Especially with his happy dance. No one is that happy. Who's your best character?: Lucas. No doubt about it. What's your favorite level?: The Donkey Kong Jungle that keeps rising and rising and omgosh so fun. Who do you think is the hardest to beat on Level 9?: Jigglypuff; She taunts you, making you think it's easy. Then you get fucked. ;_; What is your greatest achievement on that game?: I don't remember specific trophy names, but I remember as Lucas, defeating my pal Conor when he was playing Zelda, and damn was he near unkillable as her. It was my first time.

His Final Smash does take the cake thought, his, Falco's, and Wolf's are considered the best in the game, and Olimar's. But his can be easily avoided, in my opinion. That is seriously a great achievement. I don't think I could handle playing that many Brawls. It's much easier to go through the Story, that's what I did just to get Sonic. But that's something to be proud of. I think I knew that. But Master Hand, I'd rather face him as a Boss than another player. But it would be cool to play as him. Nice find! No. Sonic has the best Final Smash. His is the reason they aren't allowed in tournament play. The Landmasters are okay, but as you said, easily avoidable and don't last long enough to get more than one kill if you're lucky.

Thanks, and I think that Fox originally drew me to the Super Smash Bros games in the first place. Before I knew who half of the characters were, I played the original Super Smash Bros on N64 and gravitated toward Fox; for what reason I'm not entirely sure. Glad I did though! On the Brawl section, I found that Brawls were much more fun to play than the story mode; it seemed as if the Subspace Emissary, while having an incredible name and even more gorgeous cutscenes, was just giving me the run around. I was disheartened by the distinct lack of dialogue as well. It was still a fairly decent mode though. And Pop-Fiction on GameTrailers is now one of my favorite series on the site; see the full list of episodes here. Um, no. No. Sonic has the best Final Smash. His is the reason they aren't allowed in tournament play. The Landmasters are okay, but as you said, easily avoidable and don't last long enough to get more than one kill if you're lucky. I've gotta agree with Xort on this one; whenever one of my close friends played with Sonic, he would always hand our asses back to us on a silver platter, just obliterating every character with repeated Super-Sonic strikes. It was hilarious when we all tossed the controllers at his head though.

While Sonic isn't one of the high-tier characters, but good players using him will make mincemeat out of almost anybody. His punishment attacks and spinball move varieties are very unpredictable, and the fact that his spin dash can be cancelled into shield can throw opponents off-guard. The only other character I know to be banned in tournaments is Meta Knight. He is the highest-tier character, and good players will absolutely make mincemeat out of anybody using him. thunderflare
I think super smash brothers melee was the first real nintendo game I played at a friends house, I was Link by the way. I liked the game so much I got a Gamecube. While I was playing one day I dicided to play as Fox and thinking whats so great about him, While playing I thought this guy is great. Got my first Starfox game Starfox Adventures and the rest is history. You could add two more questions Thundercracker- Whats your favorite final smash? for me it's kirby's Whats your favorite controller? for me it's the gamecube controller :D
Xortberg
I agree. While Sonic isn't one of the high-tier characters, but good players using him will make mincemeat out of almost anybody. Not really. He's got low priority, really slow laggy moves, low knockback, and he's actually quite predictable if you just learn a little about him. The only other character I know to be banned in tournaments is Meta Knight. He is the highest-tier character, and good players will absolutely make mincemeat out of anybody using him. Only, Sonic isn't actually banned in tournaments. He's just one of the big reasons Final Smashes are, as his FS is really the only intimidating thing about him. He's not a terrible character, but he's pretty subpar.
Geo Stelar
Not really. He's got low priority, really slow laggy moves, low knockback, and he's actually quite predictable if you just learn a little about him. My point exactly. A GOOD player will put Sonic's potential to hi maximum. However, there are also players who have fought good Sonic players, so now they either learn how Sonic will move (or if he is faking a spinball move to attack with ANOTHER spinball move, or if he will cancel into Shield) or become cautious when Sonic is in spinball form. Only, Sonic isn't actually banned in tournaments. He's just one of the big reasons Final Smashes are, as his FS is really the only intimidating thing about him. Thundercracker
To be honest. I got the Strategy guide for the game that I guess Nintendo made. It says that the Star Fox characters and Olimar had the best final smashes. I do think Sonic's Super Sonic Final Smash is great, but can easily be avoided with properly timed dodging moves. You're not gaurenteed a kill with Sonic's Final Smash. But can always know you'll get a kill with the Star Fox's Final Smash.

No, not your point. A good player using anyone will make anyone who is worse then them lose. That's an overall fact. Sonic's not too scary at all. It's all whether the person playing him is better than you or not. A Great Sonic player versus a Great Marth, per se, will lose. Sonic's 'Maximum' as you are saying, is still not too scary compared to many other character's maximum's.
Xortberg
To be honest. I got the Strategy guide for the game that I guess Nintendo made. It says that the Star Fox characters and Olimar had the best final smashes. Pfft. That guide came out as soon as the game did, and they had no idea what they were talking about. In order to properly rank things like that, a metagame has to be established. I do think Sonic's Super Sonic Final Smash is great, but can easily be avoided with properly timed dodging moves. You're not gaurenteed a kill with Sonic's Final Smash. But can always know you'll get a kill with the Star Fox's Final Smash. No. Just no. All you have to do is stay above the Landmaster, and move to the side when they try to push you off the top. The Landmaster has no maneuverability, little damage power, and all of its attack options are totally easy to predict. Sonic's FS has him moving at crazy high speeds, he's able to stop and restart on a dime, and each time he hits an enemy it has radical knockback, plus it lasts long enough to get multiple kills if you're doing it right, even if they milk the 'new-life invincibility' for all the time it's worth. Thundercracker
A flaw I've always seen with Sonic is his lack of KO moves. He would be my best character if he had a better way to knock the opponent out of the game. But the best way I've seen to do so is by his (C Stick -> Move) Punch Move, but it's really hard to time that just right, especially when fighting a tough opponent. You need all the help you can get at times like that. But Fox is full of them and that's probably why he's my best.
Xortberg
Yeah, that's one of his main problems, along with his slow, laggy moveset, the fact that many of his attacks have less priority than a wet noodle, and the fact that several characters even have the potential to neutralize his running speed advantage, though at least one of them involves exploiting a glitch. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d5YSEycfHg4 Not the best quality video, but that can potentially outspeed Sonic if you pull it off well enough.
Thundercracker
Yeah, that's one of his main problems There's nothing wrong with Sonic, just his lack of KO moves is all. But still not as fast a Fox when it comes to moves, not sure why that is. I guess that's because Sonic's not a fighter, basically why Sonic Unleashed was almost a complete fail. If the other half of the game wasn't regular Sonic, it would have been completely disgraceful. Also, random fact, but this is the only game where you see Sonic using a gun. Anybody else know that? Xortberg
There's nothing wrong with Sonic, just his lack of KO moves is all. That, and his slow, laggy no-priority moves that don't do much damage, and his light weight making it easier to send him flying in return. I enjoy playing Sonic as much as I do plenty of other characters, but he's the 17th worst character going by the tier lists, so don't try to play him up as good. He's not very But still not as fast a Fox when it comes to moves, not sure why that is. I guess that's because Sonic's not a fighter Neither are the Ice Climbers, Olimar, Mr. Game and Watch, Peach or ROB, and they're all ranked higher than Sonic Looking for justification and canon explanations in a Smash game is like watching grass grow in the desert. It's just not going to be there.
Geo Stelar
No, not your point. A good player using anyone will make anyone who is worse then them lose. That's an overall fact. Sonic's not too scary at all. It's all whether the person playing him is better than you or not. I know. I'm just saying that how good Sonic is depends on how good the player is. Same for all other characters. Besides, I'm not saying Sonic is scary. Players just gotta be careful of Sonic's semi-unpredictable spinball moves. A Great Sonic player versus a Great Marth, per se, will lose. Sonic's 'Maximum' as you are saying, is still not too scary compared to many other character's maximum's. May be true, but most of times it's not. Any character can beat anyone else. So at one point Marth can beat Sonic while at another point Sonic can beat Marth. It all depends on players, as you said. Stage also plays a minor factor, too.
someguy63-
For me, the greatest achievement would be getting EVERYTHING! All of the trophies, stickers, CD's, messages/notices, completing Boss Battles on Intense, etc; all in less than a year of the game's release.
