Happiness is a warm 64

Okay, so because I'm a f-cking weirdo I went online recently and purchased a Nintendo 64. I always thought that the 64 was one of the best Nintendo consoles, and I thought it had some of the best games for it (i.e. Smash Bros., mario 64, and Star fox 64 to name a few). Anyway, the system arrived and everything works great. Now, I need something from you people.

I need some of the old geezers who have/had a 64 to give me some suggestions for games to buy. A description would be nice, and maybe some footage if you can find some.

By the way, I know about Goldeneye so don't use that one. And yes I already have Star Fox 64.

From my own experience 16 years ago I'd suggest Super Mario 64, Blast Corps, Star Wars Shadows of the Empire, Star Wars: Rogue Squadron, Perfect Dark, Conker's Bad Fur Day, Both Zelda games (Majoras Mask and Ocarina of Time), the original Mario Party, Super Smash Bros, and Turok: Dinasour Hunter

That's like a damn library in itself. :P

Definitely Star Wars Rogue Squadron and both Legend of Zelda games.

I loved Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie (made by our beloved Rareware developers who helped with StarFox 64) and Paper Mario had a childish charm to it that I could still appreciate years after playing it.

If you want to ruin your life though...try and beat Superman 64...

Get Conker's Bad Fur Day before you do anything else. Unfortunately, it' s about $30 these days. You won't regret it. Conker's Bad Fur Day and the two Zelda games (Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask) are easily the best three games available for N64. Sadly, Majora's Mask requires the expansion pack.

Other great games:

1. Banjo-Kazooie (alot like Mario 64)

2. Pilotwings 64

3. Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire

4. Wave Race 64

5. 1080 Snowboarding

6. Mario Kart 64

7. Cruisn' USA (arcade racing classic) - sequel is Cruisn' World

8. San Francisco Rush (same as above)

9. Donkey Kong 64

10. Mystical Ninja: Starring Goemon

11. Mario Tennis

12. Mission Impossible (poor man's 3PS version of Goldeneye)

13. Star Wars: Rogue Squardron

14. Turok: Dinosaur Hunter

15. Wayne Gretzky's 3D Hockey

16. WCW vs. NWO: Revenge (wrestling game)

17. The World is Not Enough (blue cart, should be able to find this for $0.99 easily, but requires expansion)

Of course, the three that you named are pretty big titles as well. Blast Corp and Bomberman 64 are also quite good. I could suggest a ton of other titles, but they are mostly for hardcore gamers who really love the N64 or have some nostalgia associated with the games. For someone who's just trying to play good games on the N64, it's hard to recommend South Park or Snowboard Kids, etc.

Oh my god, I barely remember playing Mystical Ninja, that brought me back pretty bad...spending time farming coins to get the upgraded gear. I never could get past the first robot boss thing though. I forgot to mention Wave Race 64, I personally was happy with Nintendo's job on the Wave Race game they put on Gamecube.

I have to recommend quite a few games;

1) Cruisin' USA - An absolute blast to play in arcades, and just as fun on a home console. Great arcade driving game.

2) Body Harvest - One of the first Rockstar North games, back when they were known as DMA Design LTD. A precursor to GTA, in which you attempt to defend the world in different locales/time periods against invaders.

3) Conker's Bad Fur Day - Hilarious game made by Rare; features cutsey mascot and a whole lotta' NSFW content, profanity, etc.

I'll probably post again as I remember things.

I just got a GameCube recently so I could play the two StarFox games. I'm definitely looking for good GameCube games so I'll check that one out.

2.Jet Force Jemini

3.Quake 64

4.Killer instinct Gold

5.Ogre Battle 64

6.StarCraft 64

7.The Mario Party series

I'll list what games I like and I think you should play.

Paper Mario - I love the Paper Mario series and they're my favorite out of the Mario franchise. Its RPG style and turn battles are cool.

Duke Nukem 64 - It's not a very good port of Duke Nukem 3D, but it's still a lot of fun. I love the Coop feature it has. Too bad I have no one to play with. :/ Also, if you decide to play this check you can check out my Youtube channel. I have all the levels completed plus all the secrets found.

Doom 64 - I'm clueless as to why this was rated poorly by game critics. It's my favorite Doom installment. The levels are very complex, challenging and it's a very long game.

Quake 64 - Another PC port, it's not as good as the PC version, but it's still very fun to play especially if you haven't played any Quake games before. The levels are complex and long just like Doom 64 and most games made by id Software. It's also the prequel to the greatest achievement in human history: Quake 3 Arena.

Duke Nukem Zero Hour - This is my favorite N64 game. It's entirely original, I love the level design, the weapons, the plot, and the various settings the game takes place in.

Well there you have it, those are the games for the N64 I like the most.

I would like to strongly reiterate Paper Mario. Thats the game that got me hooked on RPG'S. It and its sequel on the gamecube Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door are two of my all time favorite games. The only other games I can think of are Kirby The Crystal Shards, and Rayman 2: The Great Escape.

Wow. Good to see there are so many gold 'ole fashioned 64-bit connoisseurs here. You guys have all mentioned some great games. My nostalgia gauge is through the roof. I gotta give props to luminous, though. How could I forget about Mischief Makers???

I know golf isn't very popular, but I'm surprised no one mentioned Waialae Country Club. When I invent my time machine for reliving the 90s over and over, the flux capacitor will be activated by shooting a round of par golf on Waialae. Top Gear Rally is another racer classic if you like the driving games. South Park: Chef's Love Shack is actually a great laugh when played with a few buddies while drinking. Not exactly your typical scenario though. Rampage World Tour is an arcade-type classic but I prefer Blast Corps. Rampage has co op.

Also, you'll easily be able to find videos of all these games on YouTube. Just search the game name and check it out if you want to see more. Usually, the enthusiasm people have towards a game is the best sign of quality.

All your contributions to the "Keep Darth Un-Bored Fund" are well appreciated. If anyone wants to put up some clips of these games that would be good.

FYI I already have SF64, Super Mario 64, Super Smash Bros., and Ocarina of Time.
