Synapsepilot
This is where I will post all my non Starfox works. Comments and suggestions welcome. My updating here is dependant upon school work, the type of project, etc. SB2U Vindicator- U.S Navy torpedo plane of WW2, served up until Battle of Midway. Used a picture out of a library book for refrence. Made the cowling to long, Messed up the the the the roundles on the wings, and now I notice I forgot the antena. Still, I consider it my best work so far. Tell me what you think! More when I get around to it!
Star_Dragon
Hnh - impressive. I think you forgot the propeller blades at the front of the aircraft - either that, or they're not too visible to my poor eyesight. Points in my book for making a damn-good image of a WWII plane! Salem
Hnh - impressive. I think you forgot the propeller blades at the front of the aircraft - either that, or they're not too visible to my poor eyesight. He blurred the propellers for added effect so they are hard to see Any who nice job, very detailed :)
Arashikage
Very impressive. I do like how you blurred the prop blades and the general shading of the plane. I got to fly in a Vindicator once, my uncle knows a collector of vintage planes, and he got his hands on a nice replica, while not the real World War II plane, it was based off of it and built right from the plans of the Vindicator. What I'd love to see is another plane by Vought, and my personal favorite, the F4U Corsair. I would argue that it was the best plane of World War II, and I probably wouldn't need to argue it was the best plane on the pacific front. Fana McCloud
Even though I totally get the idea behind blurring the propeller, I think it's blurred so much and so lightly that you can barely see it (and on my monitor, pretty much not at all) - maybe darken it up, along with the tail section which also fades into nothingness on my screen. If something scans too dark you can usually photoshop it lighter, but you can't darken what isn't there, so erring towards making it too dark is usually a better policy. None the less that is a really awesome drawing. :goodjob:
CrypticQuery
I really do love the shading evident around the fuselage; it does indeed make the craft seem more real and gives a certain weight to it. Keep at your work; it's quite impressive! :)
Synapsepilot
Thanks for the feedback. In the picture I refrenced the propeller was barely visible, as to why it is the way it is in the drawing. F-86D Sabre Dogs. I came very close to putting a Starfox insignia on the fuselage instead of the dice, but then I wouldn't know which art thread it belonged in! Thats incredible. Must have been quite an experience! I agree about the corsair, It is one of my favorites too. I plan on drawing one later on, once my skills are truely able to do it justice. More on the way! sjrathbun812
Wow, impressive. I love how the shading is done lightly, but still adds depth to the image. True, there are mistakes, but gee. I think you did a good job. It's refreshing to see art of different things, too, besides Starfox. :)
Synapsepilot
Here is a well known blue and white (err..black and white in this case) vixen with a British accent that you may or may not be familiar with. I love her lines, but I felt as though I messed up on the shading. Getting her tail right was also a pain. Tell me what you think of her...oh yeah, she is not the vixen you are probably thinking of... Here she is in pencil And again in black and white, thought it looked cool... Synapsepilot
The other day I found a great book on drawing mechas (mechs?) in the library. This is what I have done so far Arm and torso drawn for practice And a classic mecha...Kinda reminds me of the shogun robots from Sector-Y now that I think about it... And in B&W These designs are not mine, they come from the book (drawing them for practice until I feel I am good enough to do my own),however I will be designing my own soon enough though ... Synapsepilot
Here is a Mech of my own design. It was partially inspired by modern armored fighting vehicles. Armament consists of a true laser and rocket launchers. This also served as a means of practicing shading techniques (which I need to work on), and I had trouble with the legs. I want to elaborate upon this design later.
sjrathbun812
Again, cool stuff! I wish I could help you out more by giving constructive criticism, but I'm not very good at that when it comes to art. :P
Fluxy
With how the form shadows are, it's hard to tell if some of the parts are actually more cylindrical, or more so cubical, but I do like it!
Synapsepilot
Space fighter of my own design, inspired heavily by the P-51 Mustang, so I will call it the Mustang II. Yeah, there are mistakes, but I am quite happy with it.
CrypticQuery
Space fighter of my own design, inspired heavily by the P-51 Mustang, so I will call it the Mustang II. Yeah, there are mistakes, but I am quite happy with it. Looks quite impressive to me; I like the retention of the bubble-canopy and the weapon detail looks quite nice. My only complaint; you shouldn't name your hyper-advanced space fighter after a questionable economy car from the 1970s;

Synapsepilot
Thanks for the comments. Here is a bit of concept art for a comic I am working on. Manuvers using a system of moment control gyros and thrusters.
Synapsepilot
Here is an improvement over my previous design for that comic I am working on.It is designed to operate only in the absense of an atmosphere. The canopy is not so much as a cockpit as it is an armored cabin. The pilot wears a full space suit and the cabin is depressurized as to keep a fire from breaking out in the cockpit. The pilot gets everything he needs displayed on the visor of his helmet. Think of this more of as a sort of space born torpedo boat/bomber rather than a fighter. What I like about this design is that it is umm....sexier, for the lack of a better word , than my previous design, yet is still somewhat believable. This design, or a variation there of, will most likely be the ship I use in my comic. I Will shade this more later on.
Synapsepilot
Here it is colored (badly) with colored pencil. I do like how the planet came out though, Ugh...there has to be a better way to draw space.
Synapsepilot
My current project in art is painting a Valkyrie from Robotech. I sketched this to help me get a feel for its shading and various shapes. I will put the painting here when it is done provididng I can find a way to scan an 11X14 canvas. I left the "U.N SPACEY" markings off because I am pretty bad at drawing letters at odd angles.
CrypticQuery
That is quite impressive!; I do appreciate the angle chosen as well - ya get to show off a bit of the undercarriage. :)
Fluxy
Be glad, Synapse, that he only says this much. I swear. He never stops talking about Automobiles and is like in love with your thread. Not to mention I really enjoy your art as well. Some light perspective issues going on in some of the pictures, but I'm pretty shit with perspective. So good on ya! Post more.
Synapsepilot
Here is a character I made. I may do a more humanoid (or further mechanized) version later.
