We all know that Spyro games from the Classic series were beyond awesome, especially the original Trilogy for the PS1 (the Dragon, Ripto's Rage/Gateway to Glimmer, and Year of the Dragon).

Then the series took a more, 'violent' turn in the Legend series, which were only 3 games. Abilities of Spyro's have been changed drastically, esp. in the Eternal Night and Dawn of the Dragon, where he had a 'Dark' form, and full flight on the latter. Spyro's look, well, for me not so impressive in the first 2 games

And then last year, Spyro took off with a whole new idea in Skylanders. The game retains the action adventure gameplay, with less violence than the Legend games, and has become a sort of an RPG. Now, there are 32 playable characters, and they are bought instead of unlocked. The developers targeted a younger range of players this time, put a 'collection' concept, but the game was confronted by many haters. Haters are Spyro fans who didn't like the skylanders' concept at all, and some made even death threats. But were ignored by Activision and the other developers. The game then was ranked good enough by reviewers, and the game had a lot of fans but still has haters.

Activision then made a sequel, titled, Skylanders: GIANTS, scheduled for release Fall of 2012. The game features forward compatibility with the characters from Spyro's Adventure, and also released new 'toy figures', or characters, and introduced a new set of characters called the 'Giants'. Although the sequel doesn't have Spyro's name, Alex Ness, producer of Toys for Bob, said that the purple dragon still has a role in the game.

So, what do you think of Spyro's Adventure? Or more importantly, the upcoming sequel?

Yeah, I heard about it! I feel kinda excited, wonder how they'll like like. I really hope the new stuff in gameplay will be good.

Yes, I am a Skylanders fan, I've never played any previous Spyro game, so yeah I'm more a fan of the Skylanders rather than Spyro himself. It's a shame he wasn't that powerful in the game, it's HIS adventure, hope he'll become stronger in the sequel.

they changed spyro's look too much. His original appearance just looked more natural...shame too, I LOVED SPYRO especially its original soundtrack.

now they all look like toys. Weird man. Just weird.

BRING INSOMNIAC BACK.

and bring naughty dog back to crash, i think.

I agree. But the Skylanders concept, except for the collecting part, was quite nice and if the Legends and Skylanders were made by insomniac it would have been a blast.

They are toys. Esp. in Skylanders :P:trollface:;)

I haven't played Skylanders, but I really want to, just don't have the cash to buy it. (especially with the price of the game, portal, and extra figures) It looks like it plays a lot like Torchlight, which is always good.
