Sly Cooper Thieves in Time

I'm actually quite surprised that I haven't seen a topic on this game yet; its been nearly seven years since the last Sly Cooper game, and the future is actually looking pretty bright. Although Sanzaru Games is developing this installment [and not Sucker Punch, the series creator and previous developer], it seems as if much guidance is being given, and that Sanzaru certainly knows what they're doing. Multiple time-periods, characters, worlds, etc. It is coming out on both the PS3 and PSVita with a cross-save functionality; you can save on the Vita and pick up directly from that save on the PS3, and vice-versa. See the videos below for more information;

This game just may make me purchase a PSVita; I've already got my preorder set for the PS3 version and simply can't wait to play it; currently it is slated for a Fall 2012 release date.

I don't have ether a PS3 or Vita, but I may get the older games for the PS2. And yes I'm also rather surprised there hasn't been a topic for this game yet.

The older games are gems in their own respects as well; Sly 2: Band of Thieves was my personal favorite, but the first was incredibly original and fun. :P The third is pretty decent as well. :P

Cool, I just a quick question, do I have to play the games in order for them to make since, or could I just start with Sly 2?

I don't really think you need to, in my opinion. For me, it had more story in it if you played all of them in order, but they do a great job of making each game stand on its own without the need of the prior one's knowledge. You'd understand more of the story with previous games, but you can start at number two and still be just fine. Basically like most game series.

I'm going to second what Fluxy said; you could definitely start off at the second game and still understand/enjoy it; I'd personally recommend giving the first one a try though; it is different than the others and still has an INCREDIBLE art-style.

I would normaly pick up the first one first, but I'm kind of short on money right now... so yeah.

I have read about it somewhere. Sly 2 as the one that made me a bit interested in the series, but I haven't played it as much (about twice , I think :oops: ) and then a long gap before Thieves in Time. I think I'll check this one out.

Looking at what happened to Crash and Spyro when they changed hands from their original developers, I'm quite glad that Thieves in Time actually looks on-par, if not superior, to its Sucker Punch counterparts. :P

From the PAX video above, someone recorded just the pure gameplay with the actual game audio, with no commentary. It looks damn good if I do say so myself, and it's great to have so much voice-acting from familiar voices! :-)

I can't believe how nicely the game looks to have turned out; the dialog is great, the level design looks intricate and fun, and the different ancestor characters appear to be a blast to discover/speak with. It's going to be a good day once it releases. :P

Never played any of the Sly games but I did catch a glimpse of this on E3 and it looks pretty fun and interesting. If I ever get a PS3 one day I'll have to look into getting this.

It's definitely worth it; the Sly Cooper games form some of the best memories I've had on PS2, and it has been nearly seven years since the last game. Can't wait! ^_^

Here's some e3 footage by the way;

Apologies to the slight dredge, though this is most certainly relevant to discussion; the game has been pushed back and slated for an early 2013 release, though we did get a fantastic Gamescom trailer in return.

Delays are a mixed bag for me; one the one hand the game will most likely be polished and improved during that extended period of time, but others who were looking forward to a particular release date will surely be disappointed. Thoughts?

I've always preferred to wait for a good game than get a shit game early.
