Hope(N Forever)
WARNING This thread is about a rumour !DO NOT TAKE IT SERIOUSLY! A blog called Paul Gale Network released an exclusive article about a rumour the author heard through someone's warp pipe. Before accounting the blog's reliability into question, keep in mind this is the same blog that initially reported in 2011 that Sony were working on a brand new IP that would compete directly with the Super Smash Bros. series, before Sony themselves officially announced the upcoming PlayStation 3 game PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale. Even IGN considers this article to have some credibility. So, to make this quick, this basic idea of the rumour is that apparently, for a long time, Retro Studios had been debating between making new IP - a third-person sci-fi action shooter - or working on a new Star Fox game, before ultimately deciding they would mash up Star Fox with an established sci-fi IP they are already familiar with - Metroid. This crossover title would likely use elements from both series, Star Fox's fighter arcade shooting and Metroid's lone ground exploring, in a harmonious mash up that would become their next game concept made specifically to demonstrate the Wii U's capablities. Yep, this rumour is ridiculously far-fetched alright, but it is not without merit. I guess it is time we discussed the possibilities, or whatever else you have in mind in regards to this rumour. If they decide to roll out another twist for starfox...*takes deep breath*....THERE BETTER HAD BE ADEQUATE AERIAL COMBAT UNLIKE ADVENTURES...ELSE I TAN THEIR BACKSIDE!!! i cant stand the thought of another starfox game with arwings as a sideshow :hehe:
russiandog38
^ I agree, though I think they need a little bit of both air and ground missions. But back on topic, I don't know what to think. I never played Metroid, but on the other hand hey it's also Star Fox soo we'll see.

psy_commando
I'm not sure I really like this rumor I'm afraid starfox would take a back seat.. Plus if the rumor is true, theres probably very little chance to see starwolf or bill and katt, with Starfox being stranded in the metroid universe. Steve
It's Retro Studios, they never fail. If they are either making a metroid game, a starfox game, or both of them combined, I'm pretty sure the result won't disappoint. Metroid Prime games were top notch. I just find the name of this rumored game kinda silly "Fusion Saga" that seems too DBZish :P
Redeemer
Starfox: Other M. Woooooot FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU. And I dislike this idea. Combining games can be fun, like Smash Bros. But this combination, I feel, will just cheapen the separate franchises. :/

conaly
Hi, can't imagine that. We need an own StarFox game. No spin of, no remake and definitely no merge!
DoctorAllosaurus
METRO FOX: OTHER COMMAND. FUCK YOU. FUCK. YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU. Adam hasn't authorized the use of fucking yet. On the bright side Yoshio Sakamoto will probably not have a hand in this so we'll get good Samus and not submissive Samus. Thoughts on the actual crossover idea, I guess it could work, I mean The Punisher and Archie had a fucking crossover that kinda worked, so why wouldn't this. RennardFuchs
To be honest, I would rather prefer a pure StarFox game... crossovers are non-canon so everything that happened in the game is not true storywise (and everybody knows that a good story is a must ). That of course doesn't mean that a storywise canon game has a good story *cough* Command *cough*. Secondly, they are not focusing so intense on the franchises. In my opinion it would be a punch in the face of Metroid and could (hope not) be the last StarFox title. But in my opinion the rumour is not true, someone is just making a joke to get some attention. DZComposer
I'm on the fence. Mainly because it is Retro Studios. If it were anyone else, I'd be a solid "Nay" on this idea. It won't be a pure experience for either series, and will seem gimmicky, but if anyone can pull off such a ridiculous idea, it is Retro. Also, I highly doubt it would be canon for either franchise, at least I hope not. The article suggests it may have just been a pitch, so we won't know for sure until E3.
sroberson
I can't even perceive a chance that this could turn out well if it is true. Every piece of this rumor sounds like it came from a bad fanfiction that I don't want to read let alone play. I just have this hard time imagining taking a galaxy with all sentient anthros and then shoving humans in it. That to me just sounds like a colossal way to run both games into the ground, but mostly just kill StarFox. Even in some chance it was done well, I imagine StarFox still breathing its last as it is put in the back seat while Metroid drives the game. Maybe if it was released as a fun joke of a game that we could all swallow bitterly but say "Hey! That was a funny idea, but thank God there are all of these other awesome games to develop the actual franchise and game plotline/characters overall!" But we haven't seen a StarFox game in 6 years, more if you decide that Command isn't worth considering. I personally think I speak for most of us in saying, we want a StarFox game (or for others, they would rather see just a Metroid game) - not both. I'm not interested in Metroid and never really have. Animals in space shooting at each other and galactic wide conflict that I can either get into or leave it as is...that's more my cup of tea. Give me Fox McCloud and gang working out their own story instead of a hodgepodge of largely unacceptable cross-over droll. EDIT: Ok, so after hitting Google for a second to figure out what the deal was about and how viable the rumor sounded, I have to admit at least ONE of the ideas sounded neat: "Likewise, Fox McCloud will be controllable by foot (both the above and this bullet point represent a period in the game after the two sides meet up) and be played via 3rd person perspective. Think of Jet Force Gemini with Fox’s known agility as he’s portrayed to having in the Smash Bros. series. (Fox will move more like Ryu Hayabusa from Ninja Gaiden and less like he did in Star Fox Adventures)."...Least that's something that I would like to see. Icy
I agree with DZ and Steve. If anyone can pull off this crazy idea, it's Retro Studios. The idea is interesting to say the least, but it just doesn't seem likely. It's not like Nintendo and I don't think it's really going to happen. But if it does, then it will be great, because it's Retro.

Ala1n-J
I thought the main idea behind this unlikely game was not Metro Fox : Other Command *vomits* but more of Metro Fox : Prime 64. But to be honest, I'll follow DZ, Steve and Icy here. Retro does great games, but I don't think this is the actual game. More like a random idea that never got into actual production. The PNG guy himself warned about the nature of this story. So... What else can I say ? Let's wait until E3.
roku
So, this rumor has been spreading like Wildfire and people are already making Fanart for it. Case in point
Synapsepilot
If anything, this may possibly provide stronger evidence of a Starfox title to be unvailed, but only time will tell. Honestly, I am not quite sure what to make of this fusion between the two series if this somehow turns out to be true. Part of me wants this to stay a rumor, the other part thinks this may have some potential...
Icy
It has plenty of potential, if done right. And Retro Studios can do it right. I'm pretty sure we can all safely assume whatever Retro is working on has something to do with either Star Fox or Metroid, or both. So, this rumor has been spreading like Wildfire and people are already making Fanart for it. Case in point http://24.media.tumb...ypduo1_1280.jpg Oh yes!! A while ago I requested Fredryk to draw a scene where Samus was wearing Fox's suit and Fox was wearing Samus's zero suit, and he drew it and put it in his fanart thread. I PREDICTED THIS BEFORE EVERYONE ELSE. ……Except there's no real proof since the image is broken in the thread. :/
chaos_Leader
The whole Metroid + Star Fox rumor sounds just like that: a rumor. There are certain games you do not combine with other games like this. Smash bros is one thing, but outside of that, Nintendo keeps each respective series to itself, and doesn't mash them together in co-titles. It doesn't work. Metroid is its own thing, and Star Fox is its own thing. More likely the Reto team used elements leftover from the Prime project to augment some the game engine programing work on their heavily rumored Star Fox title. If anything, I'd wager this little nugget might have been leaked by the company for the express purpose of stirring up interest, and in that respect at least, it has succeeded. jeth
StarFox + Metroid = EPIC WIN (IMO) Combine two of the best Si-fi's ever made? HECK YES! Yes I know StarFox and Metroind are very difrent games, but we're talking about Retro studios here. If anyone can pull of something like this it's Retro. And yes I know this is just a crazy rumour, and I'm not getting my hopes up, but if this dose happen I will buy a Wii U just for this game. And one quick question, do you guys think Fox and Samus would make a cute cupple? (Yes I know kind of random, but I truely want to know.)
