Squeaky New Xbox 360 Controller

I just got a new Xbox 360 controller today, and the Xbox 360 right analog stick is squeaking. Most places I've seen say that it's just a mild defect that wears off, though mine only squeaks if the stick moves fast, nothing at all at a slow speed. I'm thinking about returning the controller. Would I be able to return it to the store (Wal-Mart) in a few days and they would replace it, or is there something else to do to fix the squeaking?

Just let it wear in, if you ask me. It's the material it's made of being tight against the sides of the socket. Mine did that when I first got it, many a year ago, but it wears into the grooves pretty fast, and then wears out to near uselessness (as all Xbawks controllers do) not too long after that.

Alright, I'll just play some games for a while, but I'm only giving it a few days because how the squeakiness only works at a certain direction and speed leads me to believe it's not something that'll wear away.

Yeah, try wearing it out for a few days but before the week ends, if it doesn't stop, exchange it for another. You never know if there's something wrong with it.

If you have the patience and/or basic skill, you could always take it apart and see if anything is obstructing the analog stick; I know that Dualshock 3's are incredibly simple on the inside. But other than that, follow what Vydrach and Redeemer said; I doubt Walmart will give you a hard time for an exchange.

The best solution is to trade in your Xbox buy a PS3.

As much as I like my PS3 more, that's pretty doubt-able to be able to trade it.

I'll probly just exchange it, since I'm running back to Wal-Mart anyways, I'd rather just save the gas of the trip buy getting two birds with one stone than hope it wears in, since it hasn't gotten a single bit better.

As long as you keep your reciept you should be okay for up to 90 days from when you purchased it. At least I think it's still 90 days, it may have gone to 15 like the actual systems did. ( I actually work @ Walmart.)

Didn't know it was 90 at Wal-Mart as well, one time I returned a broken Black Ops disc to Target about 2 months after buying it (I assumed it was a detirating crack that I hadn't noticed until a 5mmx5mm chunk out of the middle) and they not only took it, they gave 10 bucks back because it was on sale for 10 dollars cheaper at the time.

Anyways, I went ahead and got a trade in, the new controller works like now.

Also, slightly off topic, but I met a guy in the returns who was returning a copy of Diablo II, I asked him why he got II instead of III, and he said loudly "CAUSE DIABLO III SUCKS" I laughed quite a bit.
