Guest
Hello folks! well, this is a situation that is hard to get: the Zelda story-line based Timeline! Yeah, its F'ed up and confusing as hell. Plus Nintendo didn't really try to link it together now did they? anyway, I found a video on this same exact topic and I say that the guy is a genius. His version of the timeline made MORE sense than the other ones that I have seen. It makes PERFECT sense and it seems legit. [media=] <----- is the link. if you wanna watch the whole thing, go ahead. If you wanna get to the full timeline right away, skip to 7:44. Now, after you watch it, please leave a comment and tell me what you think! if you have an opinion, have a question, don't understand something, or think something goes somewhere else, leave a comment and see what the others have to say about it! (i suggest watching the whole thing so you can understand the views of the maker of the vid)
sroberson
It definitely makes more sense than the three split endings in http://kotaku.com/58...-zelda-timeline . How one can come up with three different conclusions to Ocarina of Time is really beyond me. I can't help but feel like the split timeline from the video you linked was somehow supposed to wrap back around from the "Young Link" branch right on over to "A Link to the Past"...Making the only logical, fun and lengthy way to play is: Ocarina of time, Majora's Mask, (Continued through the young Link timeline), then go to A Link to the Past and start the "Adult Link" timeline. I just wish that Nintendo gave the Legend of Zelda more concrete storyline that tied together all of the games. I would feel a lot more drawn into playing all of them in that case (I guiltily admit that I have only played Ocarina, Majora's Mask, some of Seasons and Ages, and Links Awakening). Now that I think of it, Links Awakening feels like a really anti-climatic way of ending a branch down the story of Legend of Zelda... lol I can't help but feel like Skyward Sword feels out of place. He looks pretty adult-ish in that game from what I saw.
Guest
thats why skyward sword is AFTER Twilight Princess XD because link grew up :P
sroberson
After listening through the whole video, the connection they drew between Majora's Mask and Twilight Princess was brilliant. Grows up a rancher with grown Epona...Possibly the coolest connection the person made was that the original Link was killed and became a Stalfos which teaches Link in Twilight Princess. AAAAUUUGH!! Nintendo I demand you start tying up loose ends somehow with some sort of DLC or something. That would be too cool of a connection/story to pass up Still not sure about Skyward Sword though Somewhat related, you might like this: [media=]
Milkyway64
How is this a discussion? There is an official timeline. There IS no theory or discussion. It is set in stone. Canon.

What "official" timeline are you referring to? As far as I am aware of, Nintendo has not released an official timeline for the Legend of Zelda. All of it has been speculation. Owner/Technical Admin Sideways Posted June 6, 2012 Owner/Technical Admin Share Posted June 6, 2012 Nintendo's new Zelda art book is already finding its way into the hands of Joe Public, and inside is a Zelda timeline. For real. In an official Nintendo product. I assume that means that it's canon since it came directly from nintendo.
Mellow Walrus
Yeah, and it includes that three branch timeline that sroberson posted up there. So yeah, canon. I figured it would've put an end to all those timeline debates, some of the particularly harsh discussions over it practically traumatized me :/
Icy
Yeah, there's really no reason to debate the timeline anymore. It's been confirmed in that art book. (Hyrule Historia) There were quite a few more notes in the book, also. They said things may seem out of place but that it's just because they never had a timeline back in the old days (80s – 90s Zeldas) and had to make it all fit. (GlitterBerri translated a lot of the book here: http://www.glitterberri.com/hyrule-historia/) Still, the video in the OP's post is pretty interesting. DoctorAllosaurus
There is no timeline, It's just a story told differently each time to the point where some of the stories get mixed up. Hence why all the games follow the same stupid pattern.
Milkyway64
Except for the part where Zelda 1 and 2 are linked, WW is literally and undenibly tied to OoT, as well as Majora's Mask, the oracles, Link's Awakening, and A Link to the Past are all linked, etc.

I've often wondered what the timeline in the Zelda universe is; now I finally know!

Robert Monroe
This is a rare moment where I go "HA HA FUCK YOUR CANON". I don't deny the inter-linked games (OoT-MM-WW, LoZ-AoL), but all in all, I tend to focus more on the individual games than the ginormous clusterfuck that comes from putting them together.
DoctorAllosaurus
Except they by canon are. Wanna back that up with some concrete in game evidence. Go ahead, give me that good old Milky wall'o'text I've grown to love.
Milkyway64
http://www.glitterberri.com/hyrule-historia/ Bam. Scans of official source material. Emphasis on official. As in, it's the word of Nintendo and Shigeru miyamoto. Split timeline is 100% irrevocably canon.
