Star Fox: United Retro Studios Rumor

Okay, I think we all are pretty convinced by now that Retro is working on something to do with Star Fox, and here is more fuel for that.

Someone popped up on 4chan with some images of a new Star Fox game developed by Retro Studios called "StarFox: United"

http://www.zeldainfo...-starfox-united

http://www.neogaf.co...ad.php?t=477785 (Higher quality images in there)

This is either real or a well done fake. the game just looks too much like a game for someone to have faked it, but they certainly could have if they wanted to bad enough. Looks like a very early build if it is real, though.

Discuss, discuss…

"Most fake E3 rumors sound more and more fake before E3 starts. I'll make mine two days after E3 ends. IT'S THE PERFECT PLAN."

My little bro photoshops better than that. I'm not convinced. Yet.

I scrolled down in the forum thread where the bigger images were posted, and one guy/girl noted out that the planet behind the "Starfox United" logo is in fact Venus. So it may be just a preliminary picure just to set the atmosphere, but it's more of a fake process. And the other picture, while blurry, shows a bit of the same problem. So yeah, it's most likely a fake.

Too bad, because the logo looked nice. Oh well, let's not get our hopes down, I'm sure we'll get a new Starfox game. When, that is the question...

Damn, was hoping this to be true... I was actually kinda excited they used the Assault style arwing...

EEEeeehhh...I feel like the change in logo design is what kills it for me. We have had, what? 6 games overall (counting SF2) and out of those 5 of them have the rather "traditional" look to the logo art with the tail that comes out of the end of the 'X' in 'Fox' (Ironically, the one game that we equate to being the "classic" Star Fox game is also the one that broke ranks and had a different logo design, Star Fox 64). Also the fact that the Arwing looks too much like the Arwing design from Assault looks like just photoshop on that particular picture. Second picture looks a bit like the planets are modeled after planets in well..our own solar system, but I will give it some benefit of the doubt and suggest that it might have some credibility. Here's to hoping that the name is bogus...though with it being Nintendo, it actually sounds like the name is exactly what they would do so they could shove their 'U' logo somewhere regardless of how silly it is.

Thanks for catching this Icy! I always like to hear even about the rumors that show up on the internet, i'll call this not likely true, but it has some possibility with the title and the second picture.

Obvious fake is obvious. That's an SFAs Arwing in the logo, and the second one may be the one from SSBB, but it is too blurry to be sure.

Also, the original source was 4chan, not exactly the most trustworthy site. Lots of photoshopping happens there.

They flipped this image for it:

Haha those pictures are as blurry as bigfoot. I'll bet he photoshopped them as well.

I usually view these things with either; obvious fake, or if it's too good to be true it probably is. These photos fall into both of those categories; I doubt Nintendo would reuse old bits of artwork as well as a photo of an actual planet. :P

Here's a macro to further my view on the matter;

Though now I'm pretty convinced Star Fox is what Retro is working on, this in particular has to be fake as it's obviously photoshopped.

AHAHA definetaly not a star fox game. Funny to laugh at though. Boy all these people talking about a new game this and new game that. Makes me sad we don't have one yet

Too bad this isn't real. I'd really be sold on the Wii U if they made a SF game for it.

Just because this is fake doesn't mean there is no Star Fox game planned.

Hope so, or this site will run out of things to talk about.

Yeeeah...Just found this one

StarFox: United

http://www.fanfictio...Star_Fox_United

Wouldn't be too bad of a story line though I suppose if it were expanded on.

Hope so, or this site will run out of things to talk about.

Nah, I think fandom can live for a long time even without official material, not to mention the fact that it can live on through the material made by fans. I have found myself rather happy with reading fanfictions and seeing some artistic work both 3D/digital and otherwise - as the stories and the artwork can in some cases dwarf the original work. None-the-less, its way too early to ponder any extinction of StarFox.

Ewwww Assault Arwings.

Granted, I liked the original design for the Arwings (64), but I actually much preferred the assault versions... just minus the fact that they only flew at about 6 mph...

^ that does not look good. If this project is Star Fox it has to be good, because the franchise can't survive another bad game. Nintendo better find some good replacements, fast

Retro is Retro, with or without a lot of their older, more experienced staff members.

Whatever they're cooking up will be spectacular. As long as they have the Retro Studios vision all's good in my opinion.

Good luck to them, though.

I imagine freshening up Retro might be a healthy thing considering the rumor of StarFox Wii U. Too much Metroid residue running in their veins wouldn't be good for Fox and friends methinks. Here's to hoping the replacements are totally incompetent though and don't take crap from Nintendo. Considering their heavy hand involved in Command, the franchise needs to not be completely dictated by Nintendo.

Hold up. Perhaps I'm just being pessimistic, but change can be bad. As a HUGE Rare fan, I have witnessed their horrible fall, and quite frankly, in this day and age, Rare is Rare in-name only. Hell, Loveday is practically the only one that is still at Rare. But that comparison scares me, because

Rare was around for two decades before they declined, but Retro has only been around for a little over ten years. Retro has small amounts of people and have never gotten multiple games out at the same time, while Rare literally had teams scattered in barns throughout Twycross and could release up to five games a year.

My point is that up to this point Retro has been fantastic, but they are not showing good signs of life as of late.

Rare went to Microsoft. Retro did not.

But while Rare died after their glory days, Retro is seeking for air in their prime.

You know, maybe it's naive of me, but I can not fathom why people would want to LEAVE Retro.

I mean, if I worked for the company that single handedly resurrected the Metroid franchise entirely on a premise that everyone else thought was crazy, I would stick with them till the bitter end. Is there no pride in working for Nintendo's greatest in-house Dev team? Are paychecks really so alluring?

IDK, maybe I'm just an idiot.
