Adventures vs. Assault voice acting

A simple question. In your opinion which of the two Gamecube titles had the better voice acting and why? If you want to go into detail you can also list which characters voices you think improved or got worse in these games.

Assault; only because certain voices matched their respective characters better. Fox may've been expressionless, but this was balanced out by Peppy and Slippy not sounding nearly as ridiculous as they did in Adventures.

I'd be kind of stuck on that one, as I am on which of those two games was better than the other. Both had their ups and downs.

Fox, to me, was better in Adventures, as it reminded me of Mike West's voice acting from Star Fox 64 which is one of my favourite. There were times when the tone or emotion didn't always match the context of the situation though, but that was ok for me, just made me laugh more. In Assault, as said before, Fox has little to now emotional expression. It just doesn't sound true to Fox in what little snippets of personality he does have. Some of the voices, Fox's included, just sounded like they took them out of Starcraft.

Krystal, Adventures too: there isn't much else I liked about Krystal in that game, but I thought in the few times that she does speak, it feels like it fits her well. In Assault, she sounded like some random female from Starcraft.

(They both remind me of Starcraft for some reason)

Peppy and Slippy, both sound better in Assault. Slippy lost a lot of the "squeaky voice" stuff he had in Adventures which bugged the heck out of me, and Peppy didn't sound like some old guy.

For other characters though, like Oikonny, I didn't like them so much. Of course, the only comparison to characters like them is Star Fox 64, which I would automatically say I like more because I really liked the voice acting in that game.

I haven't played through Assault yet, so I haven't heard all the characters, but I'm hoping to play it soon.

Hi,

IMHO Assault's voice acting was much better. Not only the voices, but the whole dialogs where more meaningful. In Adventures Fox sounds (and talks) more like a kid than a team leader. Slippy's and Peppy's voices are completely overdone. And who on earth had these stupid idea with the Saurian language?! It sounds ridiculous and for example most of Krystal's words were also recorded in English, personally I can't see any good reason not to use them.

In Assault the voices fit much much better to their characters. Not only the StarFox team, but also most of the characters, which didn't appear in adventures. For example I really like Leon's voice, as he sounds like a real psycho, which makes his appearence much more interesting. So hopefully Nintendo can hire most of the Assault voice actors again for a possible new StarFox game on Wii U.

I liked Slippy's voice in Adventures too. xD

I honestly prefer hearing everyone talk in Adventures over Assault, but Assault did have some good voice acting and it had a lot more characters that you already knew, so it was fun to listen to them.

Really can't pick one in terms of the voice acting quality, so eh.

Agreed, my friend. Assault sounded completely motionless, like Hidi said, sounded like it was out of Starcraft. Although 64 will always be the best, this is the Gamecube forum. So I'd say Adventures FTW.

Lemme just dust off the rust in my creaky oldfaggy joints to bother assing a reply to this.

In general, the line-reading was more solid in Adventures, but the voices matched the characters better in Assault, with a few exceptions. ALLOW ME TO BREAK IT DOWN...

Fox: Adventures did a bad job of masking the actor's british accent, but it does a hella lot better than the cardboard, bland, boring voice he had in Assault. Point to Adventures.

Falco: Adventures had very few lines, and they were... ok. Assault's corny Brooklyn black dude voice was bad, but it had more personality. +1 Assault.

Slippy: Slippy in Adventures sounded like some faggy old british lesbian trying to sound like a man. Assault's voice was hyperactive and fun. +1 Assault.

Peppy: Adventures sounded like someone pretending to be old, and again, the piss poor attempt at hiding the British accent just hurts it. Assault Peppy had a neat cowboy twinge and actually sounded old. +1 Assault.

Krystal: In Adventures, the British accent actually works to the advantage. In Assault, her accent was super-fake and changed every level. +1 Adventures.

I'll do more later.

I liked Assault's voices better due to the fact they sounded more "Serious".

Adventures voices to me where more, kid friendly.

Eh. Hard to say which I liked more, but one thing that sticks out to me about Assault's VA work: everyone sounds like they are talking through friggen soup can with a slight metal-like reverb in some of the dialogue.

Assaults voice acting is better and serious and the only reason assault didn't have much personality or expression was because of the graphics. Adventures had better graphics(fact) therefore the expression on the characters faces looked better plus the fur. Although Assault had some cool cut scenes that showed nice expressions.

Assault for the most part. I didn't have a gripe with any of the Fox VA's, but I found the guy who did Peppy and Slippy in Adventures horrendous (his only successful voice being Conker). Buuut I loved all of John Silke's performances in Adventures (Scales, Pepper, WarpStone,etc.).

My scale would be:

Adventures Fox = Assault Fox

Adventures Falco < Assault Falco

Adventures Slippy < Assault Slippy

Adventures Peppy < Assault Peppy

Adventures Pepper > Assault Pepper

Adventures Rob = Assault Rob

Adventures Tricky < Assault Tricky

Adventures Krystal > Assault Krystal

Now this is interesting for me, because my opinion has a tendency to flip flop between the two.

I played Adventures first, and I really liked the voice acting of that game. I thought the characters had the right emotion for every situation when they talked. I also really liked how fluently the Dino language was spoken - Krystal in particular stands out. I will admit that Slippy's voice wasn't that great, but I loved everyone else. Fox, Falco, Kystal, and Scales stick out as my favorites.

When I first played Assault, I wasn't too sold on the voice acting. However, over time, I've come to like it. Everyone, Fox in particular, sounds older and more mature (as they/he should be), and if their voices in Brawl count (since, save for Falco and Peppy, they used the Assault actors), they've improved a lot. Fox is the only one that really sticks out as my favorite here, but that's fine.

Having sat here and thought it out while typing this, it comes down to a tie for me.

Adventures had some pretty funny voice acting, though I did like Fox's voice acting compared to most of the cast in that game. As for Assault, overall I thought it had better voice-acting.

Honestly, I'd have to give Assault a point for this.

You know what I think? Starfox Adventures' voice acting is the best for me. I can't get enough of Fox's awesome voice in that game!!!
