What was the first video game you ever owned/played?

Im curious to know how everyone on the site was introduced to video games in the first place.

My first video game was the "Super Mario All-Stars" 5-in-1 cartridge for the SNES which featured improved graphics for the original Super Mario Bros. game. The games featured were SMB 1/2/3, Super Mario World (yes, the one which introduced Yoshi and had those frustrating Boo Mansion levels) ,

and

Super Mario Bros. :The Lost Levels (basically a more difficult version of the original SMB game)

I recommend trying SMB: TLL if you havent yet.

I can't tell you how many countless hours I spent on those games. For some reason, it seemed to me that no other games on the SNES could be compared to those masterpieces.

I guess I'll ask another question while I'm at it.

Why do you think these classic games are still considered some of the best games ever made to this day, even with the advances in technology that have revolutionized the gaming industry?

The first game I ever played was Megaman 2 on the NES. It was such a hard game

for being a starter in the gaming industry. Though I eventually learned from mistakes,

watched how my mom played, and soon beat the game and could keep beating it

without a sweat. :)

If I recall, wasn't Toad the fastest character (oh and what do ya know? He also handles the best *facepalm*) in that game? I remember that the heavy characters moved too slow or something along those lines.

Streets of Rage for Sega Genesis. I recall getting it from a cousin who put it in a Sonic 3 case. I didn't know what it was when I opened the case and didn't find Sonic 3, but looking back on things I'm quite glad that it was Streets of Rage instead. This game really made me adore beat-em-ups and others in the genre, and it was hilariously fun to play with two people.

The earliest games I remember playing are actually Star Fox 64 and Mario Kart 64! Which was when I was around 3-4 years old. I don't really remember doing much else other than just moving around and crashing into stuff. Mario Kart 64 would probably the first.

hmm, I can't clearly remember. I think it was duck hunt, or mario bros. I was probably between 5 and 8 years old. I had to go to my friend's house to play it on her brother's NES. We had never even heard of video games before that ! And yeah I tried to shoot the damn dog when he laugh at you !

The first game that I ever played was like most user on here Star Fox 64. It was in 1999 and I was I think 7 at the time, and it was at my friends house. At the time I had never even heard of the series nor had I even played a video game before that.

The first game that I actually owned was Spyro the Dragon which I got that same year along with a Playstation.

i remember playing a snes boxing game(forgot name) when i was like 3. I never own it but when i got a n64 when i was 7 or 8, my first ture game was F-zero X, man that music and that speed was just epic! too bad nintendo stop making f-zero games :(

I think my first console game I played was either Star Fox for SNES, one of the Sonic the Hedgehog for Genesis, or some Aladdin game for the Genesis.

First game owned was probably Tetris for gameboy, Mario 64 for Nintendo (followed up by none other than Star Fox 64!)

I think that may have also been my first game. Either that or Dig Dug, which my dad had on a floppy disk. I played them on my ancient windows 98 rig, which I can also credit with giving me my tech skills. At a very early age I learned basic IT stuff, like resetting the computer and how to use task manager. That machine BSOD'd every five minutes, I swear.

Hmmm, my first game was a Lion King colouring game on the PC. It's old, very old... you could colour in pictures with Rafiki and like, print them out.

Besides that, when I began to play consoles, my first games were Silent Hill, Final Fantasy 8 and Resident Evil 2. I was about 10 when I began to play the Playstation.

A very old PC game but beyond that, I was born with a library all set up, so I'm gonna have to honestly say a mix between Earthbound/SMRPG/Chrono Trigger

First game I played was Alex Kidd in wonderland for the Sega genesis or master system? It was okay, but the Sega broke down and we got a SNES with super mario all stars + super mario world. From that day on I was a Nintendo (Mario) fan.
