Run Like Hell

I remembered this hidden gem of a game I owned, and felt the need to make a tad less obscure and unknown.

Gonna copy-paste a post I did on ponychan about it to speed things up a bit for me.

I know I already said it, but I can't stress Run Like Hell enough if you want a game that's depressing. Not counting Metal Gear games, it's the only one to really depress me through the loss of a character. I actually went full blown denial over a particular character. Full. Blown. Denial. That quickly became rage after the realization sunk in.

As far as actual gameplay, it's kinda like Resident Evil meets Dead Space... ish. The gameplay is a tad rushed, as they couldn't decide exactly how to do the gameplay until the last minute, not that it isn't an amazingly fun game, it's just you feel that it would really be a GOTY contender if they'd taken more than six months to do the gameplay.

Story on it, though, was not rushed at all. It is fully fleshed out and makes the game feel more like an interactive movie. I won't give out any spoilers, but I will say that it's pretty noncliche, in that you're not the greatest badass in the universe that is single handedly slaying these things by the thousands and kicking their asses off your station. You're an ex-soldier trying to survive, save as many people as you can, and resist the aliens as long as you can. However, for every person that falls they grow stronger, and every day, no matter how hard you fight, they take more of the station over.

Almost no one has played this game really, which is a shame as they set it up for a trilogy but it never happened as they didn't get the money to do it, which is a damned shame as it's one of those games where you truly care about the story, as that's what really set the game apart.

The game gives you feels, man, and I encourage anyone with anything that can play PS2 or Xbox games to try and get a copy of it to play.

Vydrach, and I don't find it scary, but I also don't find Silent Hill, Fatal Frame, Resident Evil, Amnesia, or those types of games scary, either.

As for why it didn't do so well, it didn't get media attention so no one knew it existed, and the gameplay was all made in a 10 month span so it's a tad wonky, though still not bad. These led to it being rather unknown, which is a shame.
