Hidi
A while ago, I came across a dealer called XoticPC. XoticPC is a computer dealer based in the US and they deal high-end and gaming laptops (Asus, MSi, even Alienware). I'm thinking of ordering a laptop off there, but I'm not sure what they're like. I've checked out MyWOT's profile and comments about the site, and they seem pretty good. Not sure if any of you have used the site before. The advantage to using their service is that they allow you to buy customized computers and have a valid warranty with the specific company, because typically, as soon as you install a different OS or add RAM chips, your warranty is voided. This way, I can add certain things I want (Hybrid Drive for one) and have a valid warranty because Asus doesn't have a web store unlike http://www.xoticpc.com/
Steve
It seems like a legit site with good options. Just don't go with something overpriced as high end gaming laptops are always stupidly expensive. Nvidia GT 650m is a nice midrange laptop gfx and sits on a good price range on the site, I wouldn't get anything below that for a gaming laptop. Choosing the longest warranty is a must too, even if that adds a lot to the price.
DZComposer
Don't buy a laptop, especially a gaming one, unless you plan on taking it with you when you go places. If you're just going to set it on a desk and never move it, get a desktop. Desktops are cheaper. more powerful, and easier to work on. I bought a laptop for school, but since I graduated, I use it very little. I don't foresee myself buying a new one. If you want internet on the go, tablets are the wave of the future, unless you're planning on typing a lot. Text entry on tablets sucks goat nuts.

Not buying a gaming one; I'm well aware they're not worth it. I'm looking into an Asus laptop for school. I need one that can run stuff but not expensive to the point of overkill. Just needs to be able to run Adobe CS well and maybe survive getting tossed down the stairs (Although my Acer managed the stairs). Sucks "goat nuts"? I HATE tablets anyways! Well as I just said, I need to be able to run Adobe CS programs and do more than browse the internet. I got a netbook for that a while back, but it's getting old now, and it really fell out of favour the moment I was accepted into CyberArts (The art program I'm taking). (Touch-typing is non-existent on the iPad.....I've tried) Asus though has a a pretty good standard warranty: 2 years + 1 year accidental damage. I guess I could buy extended warranty with them. I'll see what they offer on an Asus.
LoneWolf
The site seems legit, and I find myself gawking at these prices. I've also needed an upgrade to my laptop, since I need it for school. Though I would keep my laptop, I can't afford a new comp without selling my current machine. Regardless, definitely look for Nvidia cards in the 6XX series with a decent i5 or i7 for decent performance GPU side, as well as at least 4GB of RAM. That's what you're going to need with the current specs for games.
DZComposer
Tactile feedback. I love my mechanical keyboard. Cherry MX Blue keyswitches FTW. Rubber dome keyboards are "meh," laptop keyboards are "Ugh," Mac keyboards suck (chiclet keyboards died in the 80s for a reason....), and touchscreens suck goat nuts. Most Mechanical Keyboards: "Nice" Cherry MX Blue Mechanical Keyboards: Buckling-Spring Mechanical Keyboards: My work computer has a rubber dome board. Sadface.jpg Methinks I'll buy a Das Keyboard for work. Cherry MX Blues <3

DZComposer
What are you looking for? If you're going for feel alone, I'd pick up a Unicomp. Unicomp made Model M keyboards for IBM, and now they sell them under their own name. The Model M was the best mechanical board ever made. There is a problem, though. These things are ugly as crap (think late 1980s, early 1990s look), and things like backlights are not available. But, they are cheap compared to many of the better-looking and more-featured ones out there. Also, these are buckling spring boards. You can't do better than that for great feel. Though someone needs to tell Unicomp that white keycaps on a black keyboard looks like utter shit. If you want something that feels nice and still looks good, go with a Das Keyboard or anything else with Cherry MX Blue keyswitches. I like backlit keyboards, so I use a Razer Black Widow Ultimate. It has Cherry MX Blues, so it feels great, it has a sleek black look, and it is backlit. If typing feel is important, remember: Cherry MX Blue. There are Cherry MX Red and CherryMX Black switches as well, but they do not feel as nice. Some think the Reds are the best for gaming. I disagree, but whatever. One important note about mechanical keyboards: THEY ARE LOUD! (think klackklackklackklackklackklack) If this is a problem for you, I feel deeply sorry for you. On a side note, Fox's Laptop on the SFAd menu screen sounds like it has mechanical keys (when he presses keys on it, it goes "KLACK!"). Laptop with mechanical keys?! WANT! EDIT: If you go with Das Keyboard, be careful. They got famous for their boards with unlabeled keycaps. Make sure you get one with labeled keycaps if you don't touch-type very well. You can actually type faster on mechanical boards because you don't have to bottom out the key for it to register as a key-press. Hidi
Yeah......But most laptop manufacturers still advertise their laptops having Chiclet keyboards. The laptop I want has a keyboard at least tolerable but people don't make laptops with "Traditional" keyboards anymore. I really should look into a cheap mechanical keyboard. The ergonomic one I'm stuck with at home is terrible (Microsoft Office-style ergonomic products are terrible).
DZComposer
If ergonomics is your thing, there are a couple of manufacturers who make ergonomic boards with Chery MX Blues. Also, I cleaned my board today. I can confirm that typing on Cherry MX Blues WITHOUT KEYCAPS still feels better than typing on a Mac. A cherry MX Blue switch, sans keycap: The hole next to the A is for an LED to provide for backlit keycaps.
CrypticQuery
When I do pick one up, I'll probably be going for that Razer BlackWidow Ultimate you mentioned earlier, DZ; backlighting is important for my needs and the keyboard itself has some great functionality. Thanks for the advice on that. :)

Thanks for the advice on that. My cousin has one of those. They're amazing, but really expensive! If ergonomics is your thing, there are a couple of manufacturers who make ergonomic boards with Chery MX Blues. Ergonomics? Not really. I prefer compact traditional keyboards. The cramp keyboard I have on my Acer netbook is nice because it's not a chiclet and fits my small hands pretty well. Ergonomics have a nice shape, but are much too big for my hands. Just as well I can't handle a DSi or 3DS XL because they're too large for my hands (Which are pretty damn small).

Hidi
That is it, and yeah, same specs there. Haven't tried out any games on it yet to see how it handles.
