entourage_brando88
Hey everyone, I stumbled across this fantastic website a few weeks ago during a Starfox Adventures playthrough and accessed your fantastic archive for SFA music. It's cool to see a legit fansite for a gaming franchise! I don't see nearly as many fansites as I used to on the internet. I'm in my early 20s so I'm sure that has something to do with it because my age range is focused on college and such. No time for Star Fox, sadly. Anyway, I'm quite a big Nintendo/SF fan and while I've had SFA for ten years I never actually finished it. I was in the whole "this isn't a star fox game" camp. Well, that was middle school. I recently gradauated college and just got the urge to start a new file and actually play through it. What a great game; a sad reminder of what Video Games used to be. Does it bother you all the way it does me that our industry has been reduced to waggle motion, Microsoft EHHUHUHUHUHUH (think of a 5yr pretending to shoot someone to read that correctly) XBOX and Sony I-can't-create-anything-originial-to-safe-my-life Playstation? Oh yeah and nice to meet you all. Can't promise I can be very active if at all because I too lead a busy life. The job market is a wreck round here so I gotta attend every job fair I can. entourage_brando88
Hello and welcome to our humble little corner of the internet. No joke, read that as "horrible" and had to do a double take. I've been known to be quite lucky at times. Also: http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/499516 I think everyone here would like this. sroberson
Welcome to SF-O! Stick around for a while! I actually found myself listening to the SFA music on this website too! Got into listening to that as background ambient noise for about a week or so after I got into playing the game a few months ago (yeah, I was a terrible fan having only played SF64 and Assault - which playing through Assault and then spying some fanfiction is what really drew me here). Still haven't finished the game sadly because life happens, but I am a fan of the game as a whole. Opened up Star Fox significantly and in my opinion helped it start the obvious growing pains that we knew the franchise would have to suffer eventually. Its my hope that in the future there will be more adventure based Star Fox games with the traditional rails sections as well. Anyways, hope to see you around here! entourage_brando88
I have a feeling a SF Adventures 2 wouldn't happen but the rumors at this years extremely forgettable E3 of Fox and Samus being featured in a game together were super interesting. I love original ideas. The whole point of a Video Game is to be original. Assault was great but the voice acting was odd...and with Command, I thought they completely stripped Fox of his character. It's always cool to see the various approaches in each successive game. Speaking of ambient music, Dave Wise is the man. I forgot DarkIce Mines (inside the volcano, rescuing Tricky) all these years. As soon as I heard it I thought of Donkey Kong Country 2 (another Wise game btw) and how it would fit in better as a final stage.
sroberson
I was actually very nervous that they would pair up Fox and Samus. I think it would have doomed Star Fox pairing it with the more popular Metroid franchise. I just can't picture it ending very well, especially the whole anthro + human interaction issue. I feel the biggest reason a SFA 2 may never happen is because it precariously treads on 'furry' - which despite what an unbiased person may think about it initially, the huge stigma regarding the issue detracts lots of people from the notion. I think Star Fox has great potential to step into the area of an adventure game again as (and it has been said before) it bears some resemblance to Mass Effect. As a compromise, I think I made a bit of an idea of fusing the core of Star Fox Command and Assault. You get to experience different modes of play depending on your strategies, skill level, decisions, etc. Except to solve the big problem surrounding Command, the diverging paths you can take will eventually converge back onto a cohesive climax and ending that is accepted as canon. I think I saw someone suggest that the next enemy would be to reveal the species or entity that destroyed Cerinia - which I think leaves things WIIIDE open to play with plot lines and gives the chance for cleaning up plot holes created by Adventures and could even take place after Command! (Once they pick a canon ending to that...) Oh man...I need to start writing that supposed letter that is going to Nintendo to petition for a new Star Fox... P.S. Might I suggest this thread if you want to check out some of our headcanon ideas for a new Star Fox game! Contribute your ideas! http://starfox-online.net/topic/10364-next-star-fox-game-speculation-and-ideas-iii/page__st__75
entourage_brando88
Haha, I might have to take a look. It's great seeing fans who are so passionate about the series. I'm thinking it will be a couple years before we see a Starfox game though. I didn't think you could go wrong with a sequel to 64 at this point. A return to the roots with additional paths to go and see different things. With 64 3D out though I wonder if they'll do something like that. Nintendo is really good on following the Disney playbook these days - introduce a series then hide it in the vault. I'm thinking F-Zero and Star Fox are in the pipeline for the Wii U... I'm also fully expecting the enemy of the next one to be the animal from Command that went to Venom. The one that looked like Andross. Forget his name. BTW offtopic but doesn't the quote "Ask not what you can do for your country...Ask what your country can do for you." come from none other than President Kennedy? http://www.usflag.org/audio/jfk.wav
Fana McCloud
We welcome the new creature, yesssss. >:3 But yeah, Star Fox fandom for whatever reason has managed to survive fairly unabated over the years. Sites rise and fall but there almost always seems to be a major fan-hub or two at any given time no matter what. I'm a geezer from when SF64 was a new thing and have managed to hang around all this time. XD
entourage_brando88
Wild. I was 9 when SF64 came out. I just loved the voice acting and the stage music for Bolse. In fact I just beat my all time record recently...1361 or something. Can't remember, it was a stunner because I was really fierce on the N64 as a kid. I think fandom for any Nintendo game of the 90s would survive becuase they were so culture defining for us. I mean, each year we were discovering something BRAND NEW AND ORIGINAL. Imagine every year a new genre of music never before heard came out. That's what we had with the NES, SNES, N64 and so on when you think about it. How cool was it to see 3D on the SNES!? Yoshi's Island and the Crayola look? I swear, if I ever were to make a video game I'd ignore everything everyone said and try to make something new like that. Something that hasn't been seen before. Fana McCloud
Amen, there really was a lot that was new then. Games have been stagnating for awhile but the recent surge of indie game makers give me some hope (Minecraft and the like). Perhaps one day we shall join these new pioneers in making awesomeness. XD And yeah, Yoshi's Island was another HUGE favorite for me. I have a piece of limited edition sericel art based on art done for the game even, one of my more prized posessions. I actually was working on a fiction a while back where Dash Bowman was building up Venom to take over the Lylat System much like Andross was attempting...but got hamstrung by my imagination and difficulty writing topics regarding mysticism. I haven't played Command to tell the truth, I have been around and heard enough to get the gist though. It is possible for there to be a reboot, I am not really sure how I feel about that idea though since I will be frank, I like the idea of keeping Krystal around :3. I guess if they swapped her out with Fara, Miyu, or Fay I would be cool with that - especially if it were Miyu**. On the topic of there being a thriving and passionate fan-base...Oh man, this is just the shallow part of the rabbit hole. I fondly look back on a conversation we had here regarding the Lylat system being a binary star system or unary star system. It gets a bit nerdy around here :3. I think we might be lucky and see a Star Fox within the next year or so...(NO JINXING). According to our glorious leader DZComposer (The website owner and administrator, and no, no sarcasm there), Nintendo seems to have a habit of making 20 year anniversaries of game franchises. Star Fox started in 1993... Heh, actually the quote in my signature is a warped version of Kennedy's speech. His line reads "Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country." In one of the lines of the band Megadeth's songs Take No Prisoners he says it the other way around. I was a fan of this warped version because I am one that believes that the government is beholden to the wants of its citizens and citizens should not feel enslaved to the wants of the government. entourage_brando88
NICE. Yes, any game that really tries to do something different is a favorite of mine. Mother 3 is another incredible example. I got it off eBay along with the handbook from fangamer.net. They offer a translated version that I played through and let me tell you, they are a very passionate community when it comes to that game. Give that one a shot if you havent already, Fana. I sometimes forget how cool it is to jump onto the forum circuit every now and then and talk to (rolleyes) hardcore gamers.

There is plenty of fan artwork on those three too. Fara: http://starfox.wikia...ki/Fara_Phoenix Miyu: http://starfox.wikia.com/wiki/Miyu Fay: http://starfox.wikia.com/wiki/Fay Oh I'm familiar with Star Fox 2. A friend let me play it it in 2003. One of the best in the series and would have been my all time favorite if it had come out. Eladard has an amazing theme to it. I must admit though I don't have the time for fanfics and such...Save the SW team, I doubt Miyu and the others will ever be realized. Doubt a reboot would happen. Krystal is permanent in the series as far as I'm concerned so I fully expect her to always be in it.

Well then...i'll go back and remove the clutter regarding those links from my post I really need to get around to playing SF 2, everyone I have talked to regarding it has said that it was way ahead of its time and provides a lot of good ideas for moving forward in the franchise even now. Wish Miyu would come around though, but then I would be afraid of Nintendo treating her as badly as Krystal >_> Alright, so, the important question now is...Are you a Krystal fan? lol
entourage_brando88
Command is a surrogate of 2. SF2 was right in line with the 90s Originality Fana and I were reminiscing about. In my opinion itd be considered the best star fox game they made if people played it before 64. I love the real-time aspect of it. The question of whether or not I am a "Krystal Fan" makes me wonder if my answer has devastating implications...sounds like Krystal has an intense subculture. P.S A thank you to ND McStorm and russiandog38 for the welcome about fifty six thousand replies ago. I quite like ND's avatar. Go Bucks

Wise man . I think around these parts nobody minds if one is a Krystal fan so long as you aren't in everyone's face about it. I actually tend to troll and provoke others who are more verbose about liking her just because >:
Fana McCloud
My attitude towards Krystal: "Kill it, kill it with FIRE!" She just represents... like everything I hate in a female character. I don't hate the playas though I hate the game, so Krystal fans who aren't in my face about it are okay by me. :P

entourage_brando88
Hey! Welcome. I used to like starfox too. Hope you enjoy the site. Nice one. Have I said how much I like this starry layout? Reminds me of my old homepage from the early 2000s. It had a glowing animated space sky gif. It looks really nice on my new ZR2240w. I finally got the money to upgrade from the 17" CRT I've been borrowing for the past year for my new computer. Anyway, I'm quite concerned with the state of the gaming industry...particularly the WiiU. This might be the first console I don't buy at launch. It just doesn't look like they're trying anymore. Such a shame.
