Hope(N Forever)
How long have we longed for a Star Fox anime? Too long if you ask me. Well, the anime series that we had always longed for... apparently has to wait even longer because we're not really getting a pure Star Fox anime. Regardless of that, Star Fox will sort of be depicted in anime soon anyway. No joke! The Japanese are crazy people! Unlike Western animated series, where animators tend to add spoofs and references from general pop culture in a subtle way, the Japanese animators, on the other hand, can outright do entire series which are totally spoofs within themselves! So, what in the world am I talking about anyway? Well, it seems that Japan will soon host a brand new anime series called è’¼ã„世界ã®ä¸å¿ƒã§ (Aoi sekai no chuushin; roughly translates as "In the centre of the blue world" or something like that), which itself is based on the manga of the same name. How does this title relate to Star Fox, you ask? Well, I'll explain in a bit. First of all, the series is set in a mythical land called Consume, where two kingdoms are battling it out for supremacy. On one side there's the dominating Ninterudo Empire, and on the other there's the resurgent Segua Kingdom. Wait a sec... "Ninterudo"? "Segua"? Do we detect some kind of odd pattern here? Yes, it is exactly as you might believe it is! The anime is actually a "humanisation" of the console wars between Nintendo and Sega in the 1990s! Now that's a crazy spoof right there! Of course, if the kingdoms are based on the actual video game companies, then its citizens should be based their respective game series, correct? Exactly! The main characters from each kingdom are actually based on notable game series as the Japanese knew them in the 1990s. So, how is Star Fox depicted in this series? Well, there is a character from the Ninterudo Empire called Fosta, who's design is more or less based on Fox McCloud, whom obviously represent the Star Fox series. However, he is just one character of many others representing other game series. In other words, it is not the Star Fox anime we wanted, but this small depiction in Fosta is kinda a start, right? If you like to learn more about the anime, you can check out the official website (only in Japanese), or you can simply read this Nintendo Gamer article where I got this info from in the first place i.e. my source. Vy'drach
Am the only one that doesn't really notice a resemblance between Fox and Fosta?
Fana McCloud
They probably had to make the character designs so different from what they represent to avoid legal issues, but that premise still sounds fairly interesting. I'll wait for a REAL Star Fox anime though, kthx. XD
Vy'drach
I can see the similarity with most of the other characters, but Fox just looks... bleh.
Drasiana
They should've given him a red bandana, otherwise he looks like Link right now. Also this looks goofy as hell. The Mario and Luigi dudes are priceless.
unoservix
i have to say most of those look like the uninspired anime-style "humanizations" of Star Fox characters you see all over dA except they usually look more like the original characters, whereas the only way i can tell Fosta is supposed to represent Fox is that the article said so
