DZComposer
This is the best episode of Bill Nye the Science Guy. It has the best message of all of them, and is relevant to this board. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CrqmO1Va9cc It's all about critical thinking. And there's a James Randi appearance, too!
Harlow
Just what I needed after a friend told me he didn't believed that man didn't set foot up the moon and that Neil was a fraud. Main theory: Why didn't we got up there yet again? BTW, Never really saw this show; never aired here. I did see Beakman's World (same format) and really loved it. sroberson
Man I forgot how awesome Bill Nye is...My roommate is also a moon lander doubter, Harlow. Same argument. Albeit I will give him some credit on that as we seemed to have a difficult time getting shuttles into orbit without finding some damage to the thermal plating - it brings to doubt the ability to build craft meant to travel much further and then back. Harlow
I even debunked the common pseudo-theories to him in under two minutes: The stars visibility. Check The flag's waviness. Check The wires in the backpacks. Check The second trip theory was tricky. I just said we have technology today, so why bother? Also, is anyone familiar with Beakman's World? Drasiana
Even if the moon landing video was faked (and that's a very, very large if), I can only see them doing so because the actual footage from the landing turned out shitty and they wanted to Hollywoodify it. But also, Bill Nye is great and I lost my shit at the X-Files spoof.
Fana McCloud
Also, is anyone familiar with Beakman's World? I saw Beakman's World in addition to Bill Nye, so yeah, I'm familiar. His co-hosts made that show amusing indeed.
Harlow
I saw Beakman's World in addition to Bill Nye, so yeah, I'm familiar. His co-hosts made that show amusing indeed. Sadly Lester the Rat passed away some years ago. And I really liked the fact that each female assistant stuck to the character very well. There was also Popular Mechanincs for Kids and How 2 when Discovery Kids was awesome. My childhood right there.
Cavemonkynick
Oh god, this show. Right in the childhood, this show was the junk.

Faisul
Man, so 90's it hurts (in a good, nostalgia-burn sorta way). I never got any of Bill Nye's stuff over here, but yeah, there are many, many people as a whole who could use a crash course in critical thinking and get used to the fact that the burden of proof does in fact lie with those making extraordinary claims. It's a sad fact that many highly successful private enterprises pretty much prey on gullibility to turn a profit - homeopathy's jaunt into the pharmaceutical industry, to name one. Pseudoscience is a pretty big player on some previously straight-shooting 'educational' venues as well - see all the UFO nuttery going on in the History Channel, for example. The greater consequence of allowing people with few credentials and little professional authority to open their mouths about how our ancestors were unable to take a shit without aliens somehow being involved on cable is pretty much handicapping the general public's ability to think critically. Education is pricey and some only have their TV time between crap jobs to gain some knowledge - it's a tragedy that educational channels have taken a nosedive and the good ones left are now pretty much reserved to premium cable subscriptions.
