When it comes to phones...

Almost everybody in the world has a phone. It's like the standard, modern appliance for communicating with others. But, you realize that there are many different types of phones, and different companies who make them. I've seen that the Droids are popular. But some people prefer Blackberries.

What's your preference, and why do you like the phone you have versus others?

Just wanted to gather some more information about different peoples opinions, and different types of phones, because I don't have one myself, but will sooner or later get one. That's all.

I have an Android, simply because I wanted to have access to the internet, and I got a good monthly plan with it!

I have an iPhone 3 and it's a piece of shit. It was a Craigslist baby though, bough after my 3GS made a bid for freedom, so I don't think the quality of mine necessarily reflects the quality of other iPhone 3s...

I have a lil' Samsung at the moment. Just to call or stay in contact with people when I'm on the go.

Plus it's easy to say ... cos-play L.

Blackberry's the best deal here, but if I ever move to the US, the Apple company seems the better bet, but we'll see.

Just a standard flip phone. All I need it for is calling/texting people. No Internet (got a PC for that), no music (got an MP3 player for that)...just calling/texting (and, to be honest, I can live the rest of my life without having to send one more text and be happy).

I have an iPhone 3GS, but in January I'm making the switch to Android with the Samsung Galaxy SIII. It's immensely better, and I can't wait until I get it!

I have a phone called the LG rumour, its alright, does everything a basic phone should do, and i'm not willing to hand over the cash for anything fancy.

I currently have a Sony Xperia Ion running on Android, and it is quite good. I miss older brick/flip phones however; the ones built like tanks and had batteries that lasted for weeks.

I have a Galaxy Nexus. Best phone I have ever had. I am probably only buying Nexus phones from here out.

I have an iPhone 4S. I'm not upgrading to the iPhone 5. I really kinda love my phone. I've dropped it so many times, and not even a scratch on the screen, much less a crack. The chassis is a bit damaged, but it's gouging from dropping it on concrete on the edge of the phone.

*knocks on wood for the cracking comment*

Hi,

Samsung S7330. More than 3 years old and not even a smart-phone. Still working fine and I don't need anything more than that: I can talk, I can text, I can go online for mails or to look for train/flight tickets or maps. No apps and not even a real touch screen but still more than enough for me. And I won't change it as long as it is still working.

I just have a 8 years old Siemens MC60 (and a slightly more recent LG U8360 in case I really need a secondary phone). Still works fine.

Not that I don't have the money to buy something modern, cool, and shiny. I just don't care.

I have an iPhone 3GS. I prefer it over Android simply for the focus on streamlined UI and not making it like a standard computer by sticking close to quality over quantity.

If you've seen some of the shit in the app store, you'd realize that BOTH iOS and Android have a quality over quantity problem.

And since ICS, Android has had a streamlined UI.

Apple is making the same walled-garden mistakes now with mobile devices that they made with PCs back in the 1990s, only difference is Apple has managed to hire some good marketing folks. Apple will be irrelevant in the sector within the next ten years, just watch. It would happen faster if they didn't have the marketing people who could convince legless people to buy expensive designer boots.
