SFOCast Theater - Star Fox Act I: Desperado Auditions

Recommended Posts

AUDITION RESULTS:

Note to winners: Please send me what information you want in the credits. I will be posting a re-formatted script and file/recording requirements in a production thread.

Andross - RennardFuchs

Narrator - Glacier

Fox - Arashikage

Falco - Fedora

Peppy - DZComposer

Slippy - Hidi

Fara - Fana McCloud

Pepper - Fedora (Please get/make a pop filter for recording real lines)

Mr. Phoenix - DZComposer

Assistant - Faisul

Lizard Captain - DZComposer

Lizards - DZComposer, Arashikage, RennardFuchs

Cornerian Officer - Faisul

Cornerian Soldiers- RennardFuchs, Fedora, DZComposer

NOTE: If someone wants to throw a last-minute Falco audition in, be my guest. Arashikage was the only applicant, but his auditions for Fox and Falco were too similar to give him both parts. I won't wait extra time for it, though, so I'd pretty much need it tomorrow.

---

I have finished the script for the first act of the radio drama.

You may review it here:

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Y_ODYRgPqooH3tepk5m6t7jo-sRf2OCTEMtQch5xkM4/edit

If you have any suggestions or notice any errors, feel free to let me know.

Here is the cast for this act:

NARRATOR (Any Gender)

FOX McCLOUD (Male)

FALCO LOMBARDI (Male)

PEPPY HARE (Male)

SLIPPY TOAD (Male)

FARA PHOENIX (Female)

Dr. ANDROSS (Male)

Gen. PEPPER (Male)

LIZARD PILOTS (4) (Any Gender)

LIZARD SOLDIERS (Any Gender) [Only 1 has a line, but will need grunts, screams, etc.]

LIZARD CAPTAIN (Any Gender) [Referred to as "he" in the comic, but drawn very feminine looking]

CROWD OF PASSENGERS (May come from Sound effects, as they say no lines)

Mr. PHOENIX (Male)

ASSISTANT (Any Gender)

CORNERIAN OFFICER (Male)

CORNERIAN SOLDIERS (4) (Any Gender)

Workflow From Here:

1. Record Voice Lines and track-down sound effects

2. Track-down/Write music

3. Use Cubase to compile audio together

Auditions:

You may submit auditions to this thread. Please post each character as a separate file. That way I can track who is auditioning for what parts.

Auditions will work thusly:

1. There will be two prepared lines for you to read

2. You will then make-up two lines yourself to try to act as the character

I highly suggest you read the comic before auditioning. You can read it here:

http://arwinglanding.net/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=1

See the attached txt file for lines.

NOTE: Recordings with a lot of background noise or that were not recorded with measures taken to eliminate "plosions" (poping sounds from "p"s, "t"s, etc.) will not be accepted.

Reducing noise:

Use the best quality mic you can

Record indoors in a private space

Don't record when there are loud activities going on, IE lawn mowing, parties, etc.

Reducing Plosions:

Use a pop filter. Professional-grade ones are the best ( http://www.musiciansfriend.com/pop-filters ), but if you're on a budget a wire coat hangar, some duct tape, and a pair of pantyhose are all you need: http://www.ehow.com/how_4758157_homemade-pop-filter-vocal-recording.html

Position the pop filter so that it blocks air from your voice from hitting the mic. That means put a little distance between it an the mic.

If you can't get a coat hangar or pantyhose for whatever reason, you can always hold a T-Shirt between your mouth and the mic, though this can muffle the sound a bit.

Alternatively, you can place the mic so that the air from your talking doesn't blow on it. Note that if you do not have quality audio hardware, this can lead to noise.

One'll pick two lines of the character of their own choice (and make some) and post an audio recording here. Somehting else?

1. Pick a character

2. Read the .txt file, there are lines for the character in it to read.

3. In addition to the txt file, record something you make up yourself.

Hey DZ, I could send you a collection of sound effects from the SNES games.

I'll start recording when my mic comes - Amazon says it'll be delivered on Monday. Not bad for super saver shipping. XD

Here you go DZ: http://www.mediafire...trv50z6whb3116r

If you need any other specifc SFX from either of the games, just ask me.

BTW, just one error to point out in your script, Pepper was not responsible for Fox and his friends' exiles, as pointed out in the scene where he talks to Fara about why everyone calls Fox "Junior". http://arwinglanding.net/gallery/displayimage.php?album=1&pos=41

Here it is. I made multiple characters, and the narrator in a very weak impersonation...

Hope you like it :-)

No need to change this now Rennard, but for future, it is easier for me to keep track of things if you split your auditions for multiple characters into multiple files.

I know this. I made this change to make Pepper look a little more desperate. In Act II, Pepper will mention that he was just following orders, but there will be some ambiguity about whether or not he agreed with them. Act II will have the most changes because I have to fix a glaring plot hole.

This is based on the comic, but it isn't a comic dub. I am taking a small amount of liberty with it.

I was aware of that.

Also, I forgot a few sounds when sending you that zip file. http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?ovvpjcc8fniixnr

Plus I included a ribbit and croak sound for Slippy if you wanted to use them, since he ended and started most of his sentences in the game with one.

Hey Rennard, could I suggest cutting down on the profanities/swearing?

Also, how do you attach audio files like Rennard in a post?

Use dropbox. You'll need to make an account and create a public folder to share files.

Sorry for the little swearing - it was just made for comedy and censored - will fix that. I'll also separate the files.

I didn't mind the swearing, though the scripts won't go any farther than "damn" and use of even that will be rare.

I didn't mean it in a bad way, but personally, I find that profanity is a tool to emphasize your point, but there are few instances where it can be used well, so I don't use it. I hardly ever swear when I talk offline (Unless you count minor profanities).

Honestly, when I think of the military and Star Fox and people who generally put their lives on the line, I think they'd have dirty mouths - because when you're fighting a megalomaniacal homicidal ape civility kinda goes out the door. XD

And personally when I'm not censoring myself for the sake of mundanes around me, I'm about as potty mouthed as Debra on Dexter:

(Seriously don't click this if profanity bothers you, every other word practically is dirty, and usually an f-bomb to boot.)

So really, the use of profanity just depends on the kind of character/person you wanna pawn somebody off as.

I like your narrator voice, reminds me a bit of the narrator from the introduction of SF64.

I'm not sure about your Falco voice though, it sounds like you could be better as Fox.
