As much as I love the show, I gotta say this: It ain't gonna work. It just ain't. A little petition, no matter how popular it gets, don't mean jacksh-- to Warner or whomever. At most, there'll be reruns at a different time than midnight on Boomerang. That, and unless you've personally talked with the Tremblay's themselves, I don't think they have any real interest continuing it. SWAT Kats may have been the #1 show in its' timeslot back in 1994, but look what it was competing against: Donahue/Oprah/talk show reruns, soap operas, syndicated sitcom reruns, maybe the Disney Afternoon, local news, Mario Bros. reruns, etc. Not exactly fierce competition. Not to mention, 1994 is a very long time ago. A lot of the show is fairly cheesy and dated now, if it wasn't back then. The entire soundtrack was basically what old people thought "the kids were into these days", and even more dated nowadays. The animation on some episodes is dated compared to what modern cartoons can pull off (I remember a bizarre shot in the last episode where they did this weird pan throughout the cockpit as T-Bone fired it full blast, which would of been a really neat scene had it not been animated so jerkily, and the second season reused the suit-up scene so much it was almost laughably out of context). The cat/kat puns are almost unbearable (not as bad as the horrid depths plundered by the pasta puns in Mario Bros. All Stars, but still pretty awful). Don't get me wrong, it has its' own kitschy appeal, and there are still some impressive episodes, but the show isn't as incredibly great as people make it out to be.

A simple silly wish isn't enough to convince the execs of CN or any other station that spending the millions of dollars (hiring writers, animators, musicians, advertisers, merchandise licensing, royalties to use the Tremblay's concept, producers, getting all the equipment, editors, voice actors, casting directors, designers, etc. etc.) to produce an entirely new show based on a cartoon that was a horrible flop for the network (the toy sales that ad execs thought would be through the roof turned out to be nil). SWAT Kats just wasn't the hit the network thought it would be (reruns of Scooby Doo, however, turned out to be amazingly profitable). That, the pressure Turner was facing at the time about violence in cartoons (plus that psycho furry who stalked Tress MacNeille and sent her e-mails about all the nasty, f'd up stuff he wanted to do to the characters she voiced, namely Babs Bunny and Callie Briggs), and Turner wanting to fund What-A-Cartoon, which turned out to be very lucrative and gave many shows their start, and The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest, which turned out to be an even bigger flop than SWAT Kats, all lead to SWAT Kats being canned. TV shows aren't works of wuv dreamt out by lucratively paid awtists. They're works of sheer necessity plonked out by money-starved writers who sell them to networks who see things purely in terms of cash, how much cash they will get, and what people they may dote on. To even consider putting a new show on the schedule, they would have to cancel an existing show, or move that show to a different timeslot, which may or may not lead to its' cancellation. And if it is cancelled, fans of that show will be pissed off because they're favorite show was cancelled in favor of a reboot to a show nobody remembers. That's my bitter, cynical, and brutally realistic opinion.

Now, if you do miraculously succeed in this endeavor and there is a SWAT Kats revival, would I give you an e-pat on the back for it? Yes. Because, quite frankly, it's a long shot, buddy. Even if the Tremblays do approach Cartoon Network with the idea, it's doubtful that they'll even consider it. Many shows are pitched to the network, which already requires a pilot detailing how it's different from the old show and a marketing plan, but few make it through to the production stage, and even fewer make it to the end of their first season.

About the toy sales. I have a feeling that they floped due to (at least in part) due to their low quality. The age of (relatively) cheap 3d printing is pretty much here. Maybe we can do better.

As for the show's "corniness", I agree, kids shows have become darker. I could talk to C. Tremblay about it, from our conversations he seems amenable to fan suggestions.
