Wii U - It is here (almost)

Tomorrow, in North America at least, Wii U launches!

I've got a deluxe on reserve, though I can't pick it up until 11:00. :/

I'll probably pick up NSMBU. I'll have to wait until my next paycheck to pick up any additional games.

I saw it on sale in a flyer that came in the mail. I don't think I'll be getting one right away though because of the Christmas rush. I'm interested to see how the Wii U's lifecycle unfolds. It could be good, or it could be bad....Hopefully, the former.

Hope the console does well; it is shaping up to be very nice hardware-wise, but I'd reserve the right to wait and see how developers are supporting it in the future.

I was fortunate enough to be able to play on one before lauch. I love it. It's brilliant. The controller is comfortable to hold, despite looking unweildly, the screen on the controller is sharp and responsive with 0 lag time between the controller and the console, the buttons and thumbsticks feel great, and it's overall just a nice peice of hardware. Also 1080p is gorgeous.

Nintendo has impressed me officially. Now we'll have to see how well NFC payments and the TV feature work. Overall it's well worth picking up if you have the cash.

I have mine preordered, and I'll be picking it up tomorrow. Can't wait!

Pre-ordered Deluxe edition the day it was possible to pre-order. Getting NSMBU, Nintendo Land (of course, comes with Deluxe), and maybe something else.

I played the demo display at Best Buy too and it was everything I was expecting. The Gamepad is very comfortable and feels right. The game (Rayman) looked gorgeous.

Can't wait to get my hands on it tomorrow. :D

For now I'll just be observing what will happen to the console. I also don't plan to spend extra money in travelling to North America just to buy a console. But in Brazil there is apparently no release date, so...

I'll wait hope for better reason and opportunity to buy the WiiU.

In either case, yeah. Let's see how it all turns out in the end.

Preparing to buy a car on a average of $10.00 per hour tip based paycheck, while also having to spend money on dates. Cash is a bit light for me right now so I wont be getting it right away, so you lovely people will have to tell me how it is.

Hi,

still have to wait another two weeks until it gonna be released in Europe. Have ordered the Premium Edition. But I'm still undecided whether to get ZombiU or New Super Mario Bros U...

I now have mine. Running the system update, which looks like it will take forever despite my fast internet connection. It's teasing me lol. I can look at it. Feel the way the controller fits in my hand, which is awesome btw, but I can't play anything yet. :(

Either this update replaces the entire OS or:

:yuno: NINTENDO: Y U NO HAVE ENOUGH SERVERS FOR LAUNCH UPDATE?

So, I decided to transfer my Wii stuff first. So I still haven't gotten to play anything yet because this process also takes forever. At least there are Pikmin to look at instead of a progress bar.

I'ma get one when I start working again. Like R3D, I'm waiting for a new Metroid (preferably one that isn't a pile of Kraid poop).

I love the Gamepad. It feels so nice and is easy to use. The system and all the features look and seem to be great, and I'm enjoying this thing a lot overall.

NSMBU is great. Pretty different from all the other New SMB games.

Nintendo Land is loads and loads of fun. Like, really. I love Metroid Blast. I've only even played a few attractions so far lol.

It's got a lot of remixes of famous music from each game series too, hope someone uploads the soundtracks to YouTube eventually. :D

More thoughts later.

I just got mine earlier this afternoon. Unfortunately like before, all of the 32G units were all sold out due to preorders, but I was lucky enough to get the basic 8G unit. I haven't opened it yet because I wanna wait for holidays later on.

I'm going to wait and see what the reception for it is before I decide on buying it. We'll see...

Mine would not spin up an external HDD that my old Wii COULD spin-up. ಠ_ಠ

Looks like I gotta find one of those Y-Cables...

I'm disappointed that all the features didn't make launch. Most of the streaming service apps aren't activated, no TVii, and MiiVerse and WaraWara Plaza aren't working. My guess for the later is server issues, but I haven't even seen posts by other people yet.

WaraWara I'm willing to give a couple of days, since it is apparently based on trends and you cant really establish a trend in 1 day.

Good chance I'll be getting a Wii U on Tuesday.

Probably gonna get ZombiU and not sure if should get Call of Duty, New Super Mario Bros., or Scribblenauts.

The smart thing would wait and see how Call of Duty's online handles on the Wii U, and if I know anyone getting Black Ops 2 on the Wii U, but at the same time, ah wants it anyway.

MiiVerse got better for me last night. I could finally see people's posts in the MiiVerse app, though it still threw connection errors a lot and no posts would show up in NSMBU.

NSMBU is awesome, BTW. It's not quite Super Mario World, but it is pretty close. It is nothing like NSMB 2 where 1-ups are everywhere via coins (though there are still enough coins that I haven't ran into trouble with lives yet). Before I played it, I was disappointed that Yoshi could not be taken with you, but after playing I am not. Many of the levels would be boringly easy with Yoshi.

A big factor here is that in NSMBU you can't hold items you pick up if you already have a powerup. You can only hold items specially earned (IE P-Acorns from Nabbit), Toad Houses, or off the world map.

Despite what the reviews say, I actually really like the games visuals. Mario has always been a cartoon-styled game. Expecting mind-blowing effects and realism out of that style is a folly.

Also, Fuck Lakitus. I have hated those bastards ever since the original SMB. Level titled "Blooming Lakitus." My better title: "You're fucked. Better go farm some 1-ups."

After getting through that hell and the castle beyond, Nabbit ran into the Lakitu level. Toad may be whining, but when he ran in there:

The color pallet they chose plays to the strengths of my aging plasma TV. Probably one of the best looking things on that screen, and I've watched many Bly-Ray movies on that TV.

Nintendoland felt REALLY gimicky to me. I got bored of it pretty quick. Though it may be better with more people.

No 32gb Wii U for Vy. Vy is sad.

Now I play the waiting game.
