I wish this was still in development

Not quite sure how to use youtube code on here. But none the less, that looks like the starfox sequel a lot of us have been dreaming of all these years.

But now it's dead... :[

I actually used to work in the FSO engine awhile back, was pretty fun. And scripting was easy because of its visual-scripting functions.

But -sigh- I just wish this was in development. I'd be on the FSO developers website and would be seeing promos for this everywhere. I remembered and looked back, and now - nothing but disappointment.

But oh well, it's still something to gain inspiration out of for our own works. :P

EDIT: ahh youtube links automatically show the video. :o

Yeah, I saw thread announcing its cease of development. It's too bad that they couldn't continue. Have you checked out Lylat's Last Stand? That's a current source mod some people here are currently working on. http://starfox-online.net/topic/9717-lylats-last-stand-a-starfox-fan-mod-for-the-source-engine/

(EDIT: Holy crap, I did not realize just how awesome that thing really could've been.)

That looks good, but I'd really love to see a game in the spirit of SF64. On foot combat just seems... not so starfox-ish.

I love star fox assault, and even adventures. (Yes I just said that, and it isn't because im furry for krystal.) But I think starfox needs to go back to its roots, it's one of those games that can innovate without changing the core gameplay mechanic.

It's like with star control 1 and 2. The second had all the combat that the original had, but added an epic adventure to make it feel like a complete game.

And I'm actually a star control 2 fanboy. :-P

Has there ever been a Star Fox fan project that didn't go out of development after awhile? Shame to see one that looks as promising as this one disappear too.

That would have been a fantastic game. I guess it goes the same way with mods. They just die. :c

I was on the dev team for Shadows of Lylat. What killed the project was scope creep. What started as a SP campaign for FS2 with Star Fox vehicles turned into a total-conversion project requiring engine changes that didn't come down the pipe fast enough. People on the team lost interest in it as it grew to be more than the signed-on for, and it fizzled-out. A shame. We had some good people on that team, but there were more visionaries than pragmatists. It got so bad that, and I think this was the death blow, a motion was made to change engines from FSO to Unity.

FSO probably wasn't flexible enough, or so I guess.
