Vy'drach
http://earthboundcentral.com/2012/12/itoi-announces-mother-developments/ The general idea is that it's perhaps a compilation being made for the 3DS. Giygas in 3D. That's gonna be fun.
Patch93
Nintendo of America you'd better release this here, or else I will be pissed.
Rusheo
http://earthboundcentral.com/2012/12/itoi-announces-mother-developments/ The general idea is that it's perhaps a compilation being made for the 3DS. Giygas in 3D. That's gonna be fun. Trippy, but scary indeed. If IF they are making this for 3DS it is about time since Earthbound is loved by many of the oldschool gamers, yet some of the newer ones have no idea what it is it would be nice for the newer gamers to play this. Milkyway64
The only problem is, Mother games do not age well at ALL. The writing is top notch, but as videogames they are very sub par. I foresee disaster.
psy_commando
Earthbound was pretty manageable, it felt just like playing a pokémon game.( Which is kinda normal given the fact that they did pokémon after that game.. ) The third one looks ok, I haven't tried it though. However, I'll agree with you on the original Mother, its really hard on the eyes .. I'm not so sure they'd be able to release a compilation in the west, because as it was pointed out a while ago, a couple of Earthbound's sound samples were modified parts of music tracks made by others. ( http://earthboundcentral.com/2009/02/earthbound-music-similarities/ ) And big parts of musics composed by others have been reproduced and tweaked into the game's soundtrack. ( http://earthboundcentral.com/2009/02/earthbound-legal-issues/ ) Once again, copyrights show its(their?) ugly head..
Patch93
That is true, they would have to change a lot of things in Earthbound if an American release of a 3DS complimation is to see the light of day.
Milkyway64
If you are an earthbound fan and have not played Mother 3. Do so. Now. Go on, we are all waiting.

I call bullshit on that theory, lot's of old games borrow samples from other songs. Streets of Rage for example borrows heavily from 90's house and hip hop music, and gets rereleased quite often. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OpntMeUjTmc
tupelocase
Maybe now I can enjoy the beauty that is the mother series without buying two hacks and shelling out a crap ton of money for the one that actually Was released in English.
