Fox-Shot
I'm planning on getting a new case, and I want to get a case that can sit horizontally instead, the issue is that most cases with this in mind are built too small for my PSU and GFX Card. I was going to get an HAF XB until I found out my PSU would be a near legendary pain to fit into the thing. I have a standard ATX board and use a stock heatsink, so those two parts are about the only issue. PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817341051 GFX Card: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130809 Anyone got some good ideas? If you can find a small standard tower that still stands vertically, I'll still like the advice, It's just that I take my PC from place to place too often for the giant case I have it in. DZComposer
Airflow is important, so be weary when buying horizontal cases, as many of them have shitty airflow.BTW, your links are both to the graphics card.Looking at the HAF XB in detail, it looks like a standard ATX PSU should fit in it, so long as it is less than 7" in length. His link is attached to the GPU link somehow, but the PSU link is there in the post. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817341051 It's not quite 7", so if you're right about the XB then it should work. Me, I don't know a thing about smaller cases. I made a mistake with my recent build regarding the case and PSU, so I'd advise being extra careful. Fox-Shot
Fixed the link, it's cause you have to re-paste the link when you make the text link to a website, and simple minded me didn't think to copy each one individually at first. In the reviews I've heard that it's darn near impossible to work with as it creates a tight fit, and that was with power supplies with shorter lengths than this, especially since mine is fully modular. If it's meant to fit 7" and only that, then .1" likely won't be enough room to do anything else.
DZComposer
Honestly, you won't find a small case that isn't going to be a PITA in one way or the other. If I were you, I'd probably get something like this: http://www.sunbeamtech.com/PRODUCTS/Lan%20Party%20Bag/Lan%20Party%20Bag.html These things are designed for LAN parties. Some of the nicer ones can even pack your monitor.
Fox-Shot
Thanks for the advice, I've been tempted by those before, though either way a new case is a good idea, I'm just using an old case and the airflow is terrible (My gfx card runs 60-70 on full load, cpu 60-65). I'm still open to normal towers, what was that one HAF case you mentioned in a thread quite some time back?
DZComposer
This is the case I use:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119197It is bigger than it looks in the pics, though. It is also wider than most cases, but this makes the cable management inside very easy.Only complaint I have are the clamps on the 5-inch bays. The pins on them are not long enough to get a very good grip on your drives, but they can be removed and replaced with old-school drive screws.
