I got one of dem aj covered coloren books fur the officially unofficial tradition of seniors coloring on the last day of the school. Its nice to see that all the artwork isn't stock vectors, but i must say the activity book companies still can't quite capture Twilight Sparkle's face. Now, if you'll eskuse me...this is actually quite stress relieving.

I haven't seen the trailer but judging by what I've seen on Derpibooru (especially that gif of Twilight eating an apple without that weird appendage known as a hand), it seems like more than just your average high school thing. Also, I've read (DOZENS) of comments saying that this trailer was absolute proof that it would be crap. I disagree. Remember the Canterlot wedding trailer: all it showed was a wedding preparation, an evil Cadance, a bunch of clones (of the mane 6) and a Shining Armor stoned out of his mind. The show actually revealed MUCH more.

Well I remember the Wedding but I don't remember a lot of Bronies raging and ranting over saying it was going to suck. Granted there was a few yet out of the majority it was accepted. I know I just didn't like the Spelling lady. I didn't think the woman who played on 90210 would be appealing to the audience but whatever. 

 

I think it could be the fact is what made the show appealing is that they were ponies. Not humans and certainly not in this particular setting. That and I have a feeling it will end up like most dramas/stories about High School Girls Squad type. I will give it a chance however but they better damn well make it more than the next Zoey 101.

 

Also on a somewhat unrelated note. The antagonists hair... is sweet. Like Twizzlers, the Strawberry and Lemon ones.

Whether or not this is something you still want to see, deciding to only mention the fact that it'll be a theatrically-released movie a month before said release is a murder-suicide where the other victim is whoever shells out $10~ to actually see this thing in theatres (and there won't be many of them in the grand scheme).

 

And this still just looks like someone's high school AU fanfiction that accidentally got animated by professionals.

From what I gather, it's Meghan McCarthy mostly that pushed for this idea. She's been rather hit and miss for the episodes, though she seems to really try and push for her own fanfiction type ideas, from what I hear.

i guess Hasbro is dispensing with the pretense of trying to capture the brony demographic in addition to the demographic they actually want

 

'cuz i don't know about you guys but when i think of a movie setting that will definitely appeal to the primarily 18-25-year-old geeky males that make up the brony fandom, i think of high school and prom queens and Doug.

I do believe Hasbro wants to compete Mattel on the fantasy high school market. MonsterHigh, a Mattel property, is a huge success worldwide. So naturally, Hasbro wants their share of the business. I think that's the reason behind Equestria Girls. Now about that movie... I don't care. Really. It doesn't seem to look as bad as I thought it would be and the trailer has a few good moments, but I'm not that interested at all.

edit: I also just figured out what it is that really bothers me about the trailer and that's the fact that Twilight is the only "real" humanized pony in the entire thing. All the other characters are weird AU versions but they aren't actually them, which is really just making it more of the Twilight Sparkle Show where the other characters really aren't anything more than pieces for her to play with. Sure, the orange chick in the cowboy hat is "Applejack", but she's not the Applejack that the fans of the show have followed throughout the series, so on and so forth.
