ballisticwaffles
So those who have been paying any attention to the video game world will have heard of this game before but for those of you who haven't, here is a brief rundown. In Crusader Kings you play as the head of a Dynasty, a family in the year 1056 just before the battle of sterling bridge and the conquest of England by the Norman William the bastard. You can play as any family, and country, anyone that exists in Europe from 1056 to 1453, and generally do anything you want as long as you are prepared for consequences. The Hapsburgs, Hohenzollerns, You can even make your own dynasty and play as the Von Cockandballs. Want to conquer England? Go ahead, so long as you can contend with the general feeling of hatred towards foreign rulers. Want to restore the Orthodox Pentarchy? The Game will let you, so long as you can contend with the innumerable Muslim and Mongolian hoards driving you to the brink of death again and again and again. Want to Assassinate your third cousin, who is 5 years old, to inherit a distant claim on a out of way county somewhere in Anatolia? Go right ahead, so long as you realize that you are going to have to fight off the Entire Byzantine Empire to do it. The Reason i bring this up is because i have a game running right now as an out of way count in the Byzantine Empire. In about a years game time, my first ruler died leaving me to play as one of my sons, who happened to be one of the claimants to the Throne of the Empire. In a move that i honestly had nothing to with, a group of Nobles dethroned the then ruling person of the empire, Blinding him and castrating him to remove him from the line of succession, and set my Character on the throne. Right now i have just finished putting down the umpteenth rebel attempting to claim the throne for himself and i am at an empass. Should i attempt to consolidate my actual holdings so in the even of me being dethroned i can control as much territory as possible, or should i Grip the power with an Iron fist and attempt to remake the Roman Empire and Restore the One true faith of Orthodoxy?
