DZComposer
Are they actually posting, or are they just registering? If they are posting, please provide links to the posts.
Conall Drest
GODDAMMIT!!!!!! I hate this they spam spam spam and never stop regestering and crap. When will we ever be able to block them for good. Ill handsomely reward whoever figures out how to block them for good.
DZComposer
I've already found something that will help. It removes the website field from the registration form and imemdiately denies registration and bans any IP that tries to fill one in. This won't effect users because the field simply won't be there. To add a site, the user will have to edit their profile after registering. I'll need time, though. THere isn't an easy-mod installer for it so I'll have to manually edit php. :x
TakeWalker
Are spambots really a problem here? O.o I think I might have seen one... If anything, that speaks to a well-trained mod staff. Quick response time and all that.
Ludvig11
I think I've seen 3 or 4 the past week. They hadn't posted (yet) although.

TakeWalker
I think I've seen 3 or 4 the past week. They hadn't posted (yet) although. Ohh, so it's not a case of actually being spammed yet. Yeah, preventative measures are a good idea.
Conall Drest
Spambots are even worse at another starfox site I go to. They get like 8 a day and they have 2 pages of users that are spambots and they ALL post. I guess I should be happy they dont post here YET. DZComposer
The reason they haven't posted yet is that e-mail activation is a very strong anti-spam protection. Had I not enabled it when I became the lead forum admin, I assure you they would have posted. I haven't had time to implement this new php yet, and I probably won't until this weekend (Saturday). Bill Winters
I doubt the bots had (or have) obvious names like Jimmy McSpamer. >_>
DZComposer
A few of them did have obvious names, like this: padfbjkfdglndnjlnjkl
Lilacs
I doubt the bots had (or have) obvious names like Jimmy McSpamer. >_> Try Chris, he/she hasn't posted the whole time he has been registered. Iam not trying to point fingers it's just that this guy looks like a spambot to me. I think I've seen 3 or 4 the past week. They hadn't posted (yet) although. same here. Ludvig11
New spam/adbots seems to get registrated anyway.. but they don't have any links and such anymore, so I suppose one of the worst things about them are gone.
DZComposer
Ugh..... The reason there are no links is because of the bot blocker I installed. This is interesting, though. This is a pretty smart bot. It must somehow know the fields I disabled as if it tried to fill them, it would trigger a "die" statement in the php and shoot me an e-mail with the details so I can ban the ips. But, no links moots the reason for them registereing to begin with. Maybe the bot blocker is only half-working....
