Geo Stelar
Some of you probably already know about this, but I might as well make a topic for it Pokemon has always been one of Nintendo's top game series, along with Mario and Legend of Zelda (Starfox, too!), and with their newest handheld, the Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo has decided to announce the upcoming Generation VI for Pokemon. Generation V was released not too long ago, with Pokemon Black and White, and with this gen they introduced a brand new region and pokemon from the ground-up, intending to make the Gen V experience to have a "fresh start" for players both old and new, as well as introducing the first main-series games to have a numbered sequel, Black 2 and White 2. Generation V, while successful, felt a bit short-lived for fans (no remakes of old games, unlike Gen III and IV), the upcoming Pokemon games, titled Pokemon X and Pokemon Y, seems promising enough and looks awesome. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4bIrWryFc7A&feature=share http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Pok%C3%A9mon_X_and_Y So, what d'you guys think? CrypticQuery
The designs are always interesting concerning new generations, that's for sure. In lieu of the topic at hand, however, I've always wondered why Nintendo and/or Gamefreak never put the resources into making a home-console version of a full Pokemon RPG. It would seem like the perfect system-mover for the Wii-U.
Vulvokunvrii
I'd love ot play these pokemon games but it either slips my mind or I lack the money. And is it just me or do those two pokemon you posted pictures of look like Resident Evil B.O.W.s?
Redeemer
I'm very excited for these games and I'll be buying X when it's released over here. I'm looking forward to seeing all the new Pokemon!
Xortberg
I am so gonna be getting a 3DS for this gen. I must have that deer legendary. Plus, I have a friend who wants to be my rival. Shit'll be fun.
Geo Stelar
The Deer Pokemon and the Bird Pokemon I posted will be the legendary mascots for X and Y; Their species and typings have not been released yet; Fans are still speculating ...and yep, more reasons to buy the 3DS
Drasiana
That new Mewtwo thing makes me uncomfortable. But I'll probably get a 3DS just to play this game regardless :I
TrishaCat
So far my favorite thing about the new gen is Fennekin, the fire type starter. I like how Pokemon is going 3D, but I wish it would be made on a console and it still be a standard Pokemon game for a change. Pokemon Colloseum and Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness were a step in the direction I want, but I want the games to be more standard, but on console. I do still want them to stick to handhelds, however. Geo Stelar
I still can't choose which starter to pick once it's released I hope they will be Grass/Dark, Fire/Psychic, and Water/Fighting when they fully evolve
Kid_Cortet
I honestly cannot wait for Gen 6. From seeing the few Pokemon they have "leaked" I am more and more intrigued by what they are planning for this time around.
Owner/Technical Admin Sideways Posted April 7, 2013 Owner/Technical Admin Share Posted April 7, 2013 I haven't played a new Pokemon game since HeartGold. X and Y look interesting, but I'm afraid I'd have no clue what's going on or what's good or bad as far as pokemon. I'd still want my Charizard. DoctorAllosaurus
Not sure if I'm gonna get this one, haven't finished a pokemon game since pearl and the metagame is way too much work. If things change I'm definitely in, if not then it's a big maybe.
Kid_Cortet
But not knowing anything about the new Pokemon is all part of the adventure. That is why I enjoy playing a new gen for the first time. It is all part of the discovering the mysteries of Pokemon.
Drasiana
So they apparently revealed some new Pokemon! I'm gonna stick them in a spoiler tag, but let it be known that this is the happiest I've been with a set of new Pokemon for a while! The panda is called Yanchamu ( ヤンãƒãƒ£ãƒ ) and is the Naughty Pokémon. It is Fighting-type, 0.6m and 8.0kg. It has a new move called Parting Remark The bird is called Yayakoma (ヤヤコマ) and is the Japanese Robin Pokémon. It is Normal/Flying, 0.3m and 1.7kg The lizard appears to be an Electric type, possibly Normal as well, but the name is currently unviewable due to overexposure. It has a new move called BaraboraCharge The goat is called Gogoat (ゴーゴート literally Gohgohto) and is the Riding Pokémon. It’s Grass-type, 1.7m and 91.0kg. You can actually ride this Pokémon in the field. It can learn Horn Leech I want the last one so bad!
WOLFjr
I've already put in a pre-order for both games. As for those four new pokemon shown, I really like the goat one since you can supposedly ride it. The little panda comes in second.
Drasiana
Also what do you guys think about the rumours of there being a new type? I'd think they were just restructuring the type chart if it weren't for the fact that they're making a huge deal out of Sylveon's typing, and what they have revealed about its type makes no sense with what we know now. It's supposedly a "fairy" type, which sounds ridiculous, but I suppose it would be easy to reclassify a ton of old Pokemon into that type too in a way that made sense. Xortberg
On the subject of the rumored Fairy type: http://pokebeach.com/2013/05/supposed-pokemon-x-and-y-insider-information Still just unconfirmed rumors, but apparently some of the guy's oddly specific predictions have come to pass, and all of the rumored changes in this article seem plausible enough to me. I am a bit disappointed if it is true and Sylveon does end up being a Fairy type, because I was hoping that my guess of Flying would end up being correct, but it does fit aesthetically and sylphs are little fairies, so it still fits. Personally, I'm happy with the possible addition of a Fairy type.
Drasiana
They also recently aired a television special called Pokemon Smash that made a big deal about trying to guess Sylveon's type, and while they didn't reveal it, they showed it was weak to rock and poison and strong against ice, which doesn't make sense with any pre-existing types, so whether or not it'll be called "fairy" I think it's safe to say it'll be a new type. Which I want too, it's been stuck at an odd number for a while and if other rumors are correct the type will stand a chance against Dragon. Jigglypuff, Clefairy, Chansey, Togepi, Skitty, and Swablu are potential candidates for a Fairy retyping, but I feel like I'm missing some others... Thomas Draco
Fairy type isn't happening, and all rumors saying it is are unsubstantiated. As for the new batch of Corocoro leaks, every one of the Pokemon revealed are amazing.Yanchamu or bust
Xortberg
Fairy type isn't happening, and all rumors saying it is are unsubstantiated. You really like being a Debbie Downer, don't you? There's plenty of reason and precedent for a new type to be introduced. In Gen 1, Psychic type was completely overpowered, so Dark and Steel were added to balance it out. Nowadays, in the current Pokemeta, Poison is a pretty underutilized type and, aside from Toxic (which pretty much any Pokemon can learn, so it's not much for the Poison type as a whole) not many good teams will use Poison types. In addition, Dragon types are kinda dominating the upper tiers of gameplay. Therefore, as far as I can tell, introducing a new type, whether it's actually called Fairy or not, that's weak to Poison and immune to/super effective vs Dragon makes sense, from a balancing standpoint. On top of all that, Fairy isn't all that unlikely, like some people say. We already have Ghosts and Dragons, both of which are pretty firmly planted in the supernatural, and some Pokemon are even classified as "Fairy Pokemon" in the Pokedex (Clefairy and Snubble some to mind), so having a Fairy typing would mesh pretty well with the world. Plus, Sylveon's names across multiple languages can be tied to fairies. It's Nymphia in Japanese and Nymphali in French, which are pretty obviously derived from the word "nymph," and Sylveon probably comes from "sylph," which is also a type of fairy. So while you may be right and I can't offer any legitimate proof to you, beyond the article I linked where they admit that it's a rumor with only circumstantial evidence, that Fairy as a type is going to happen, there are some pretty solid arguments for the type's existence, from both a mechanical balance standpoint and from a world-building standpoint. EDIT: Totally relevant gif, spoilered because it's obnoxious:
WOLFjr
I'll be honest here, the only thing that I don't like about the upcoming generation 6 is the new mewtwo form. I was very intrigued by it at first, but I was hoping it would be a brand new pokemon. I was hoping that, in the story, it would be like an attempt at recreating a mewtwo clone. But a leak of a clip from an upcoming pokemon movie dashed that hope.
Drasiana
Fairy type isn't happening, and all rumors saying it is are unsubstantiated. Except for the fact that the Pokemon Smash show, to my knowledge, is officially endorsed, and they've not only made a big deal over being all mysterious about Sylveon's typing, but all the clues they've given us regarding its strengths and weaknesses don't match up with any existing types. And I severely doubt they'd think that "surprise! we re-arranged the typechart!" would be a satisfying, hype-worthy reveal. Whether or not it's "Fairy", we're getting a new type. The fact that official channels have made a huge production out of the reveal of the typing of a random Eveelution is enough "substantiation" that there's something weird going on with the type system in this generation. Not to mention there have been tons of leaks and rumours in the past, within this same time period, that have been proven correct, so it really isn't outlandish to speculate that some may actually be correct, nor is it outlandish to expect a new type that would not only bring the amount of types to an even number (18) but would balance out some brokenly overpowered types as well. that gif is also perfect

I've heard it's gonna be activated by an item, and if it needs to hold an item to use it then it's gonna unfortunately lose a lot of versatility on the base form, but other than that competitive gripe I have nothing against it and no strong feelings for it either way. I refuse to call it Eclair form, though, which is apparently what it's gonna be called. It'll always be Majin Mewtwo to me. that gif is also perfect I do what I can
Drasiana
Eclair form ...?!?!?! this is the dumbest thing i have ever photoshopped
Xortberg
I can't confirm that, because I don't remember where I read it and I'm a lazy motherfucker so I won't go look it up, but since the setting for this game seems to be based on France and eclair means like, lightning, or something like that in French, I assume it's a Speed-based form. EDIT: Nevermind, I got off my lazy ass and found a bit of confirmation: http://www.serebii.net/xy/pokemon.shtml Down at the bottom is the new form. It also mentions that the form was confirmed by Pokemon Smash, which lends even more credence to the new type argument since the type was hinted at on Smash as well.
