Farewell, Beloved Falco was honestly the most well made one, though Assault's was the most dark and serious. Plus, it felt a bit like a cheesy sci-fi movie, and I like that.

FBF by far. Assault's story might've been more serious but it wasn't particularly original and had its fair share of holes, Command and Adventures were hot messes and Star Fox/Star Fox 64 were both good but exceptionally simplistic.

Kind of depressing that the best story in Star Fox wasn't even one of the games...

I have never read FBF, I probably should.

I don't particularly have a preference when it comes to story regarding the Star Fox series; story has never generally been one of the series' strong points for that matter.  I am curious as to why the Nintendo Power comics that preceded the SNES game aren't in the poll though - they were quite good.

That depends, how many comics from NP were there? Cause there might be too many from one source to count.

I might include that later.

There were several issues but it was one story.

Look, about last time, I apologize for ridiculing you of being rude.

I didn't notice the holes, but I would agree that Assault was lacking in originality.

I would love it if there was another Star Fox comic made. FBF was amazing.

It is a little sad that the FBF was better than all the games, but Star Fox comics are still very enjoyable, and if Star Fox became a comic series, I don't think I'd mind. Comics can be nice.

On a note related to the original question:

While I've not played Command, and while many hate its storyline, from what I've read about, it sounds like its storyline has the most detail. And I really admire detailed storylines. I've also seen and read small parts of the story, and it made me feel sad. I like that. It actually succeeded in making me sad. That fact impresses me. Still, I've not played it, so I can't have a very good very valid comment on the game's story.

Star Fox 64 was always my favorite, although Adventures and the return of Andross was another favorite.

Assault had probably one of the better ways to tell a story, in that it used modern techniques (Cutscenes).

I added SNES in there not because of its story in-game, but the Super Nintendo comics that told the story in supplement along side it. I guess that would include SF2 as well.

Yeah I prefer the SNES canon for the same reasons psy, Rob, hidi, and everyone else has mentioned. :-P

And I agree with Dras, FBF was very well done.

Well a lot of the earlier Nintendo games (And even games today) got their background stories laid down through comics released on the side from the game. Portal and TF2 for example, are two games that on the surface appear to be very simple, near plotless games. Take a closer look and you've got solid backstories, and comics that add more depth to the game and characters in them.

Sadly, Nintendo didn't really retain that all too well, and I'd assume the fact that Star Fox was tossed around form developer to developer, it would've made it difficult to add side stories/comics, but it would excuse the games from their lack of storytelling in-game.

SFA's story had a ton of holes (It was pretty obvious - aside from the extra dialogue ripped from the disk - that there was more to the dialouge and it all got cut.), yet I still have a sort of attatchment to it. Could just be me muddling my feelings for the game in general with the story, but ah whatever.

Assault wasn't that bad, felt like it could have been expanded. Just felt short to me.

I haven't read FBF in a long time, but I did really enjoy that one.

Ended up voting for SFA and FBF.
