Hell, She even answers your summons on Sundays. But beware, do it at a certain time of the month, and they'll be scraping you off the wall with a spatula. ~lol~

First you must harvest a tampon from an elderly lesbian matriarch. Use the tampon to paint the sign of the Triple Goddess on the floor of a burned wedding chapel while naked and anointed with rosemary and lipstick. Chant the incantation of the prophet Carrie Bradshaw and set fire to a garter. This will summon Her, and only She can give you what you need to unlock the secrets of The Women for writing purposes. Godspeed.

and give her a glass of milk to minimize any PMS symptoms, unless shes lactose intolerant. Then in that case you kicked it up to 9000%.

1. A NEW THREAT ARISES... this phrasing specifically. Is used. Over. And over. sTOP

1) What do you want people to do? You ask for originality and the fan-fiction still becomes crappy none the less. Its like going to a movie theater, you try and find a movie that is original, you sit there, watch for 2 and a half hours and in the end you are like "I hate it." Y'know?

2) LOLWUT?

3) LOLTRU!

4) Don't know what OC means gonna assume that yo meant "This guy loves to put Fox into himself." Yeah that can be annoying.

5)LMFAO I CAN'T! I CAN'T STOP LAUGHING!!! I'M DIEING HERE! :'D

6) Lolnope.

7) You are so right yet again.

8) Yep but so far people think "LOL GIVE HIM THE POWERS OF SUPERMAN :D "

9) Eh.

10) Lol the rage is strong in this one xD.

All and all I really can't say much you're right about everything, except for reason number 1, I don't quite understand that.

Er...what? I said to stop specifically using the exact phrase "a new threat arises", not stop adding new threats. Though, I will say that--and this is something the games need to stop doing, too--people do need to cool it with the "oh no a group of cannon fodder is invading Lylat because ????" and think of more creative ways to introduce antagonism into the series. It's not up to me to spoonfeed writers what their own plots should be, I'm just pointing out that I'm sick of seeing the same superficial plot reused.

Also OC stands for "original character" :B

I like the idea of a new threat, but the enemies for Lylat need to be different from the next. As long as it expands the universe of SF I'm up for it.

A NEW THREAD ARISES! when the evil Andross creates a thread that is about Paula Deen, Barack Obama, the name of the Redskins, and abortion at the same time, Admin Pepper must turn to the Star Mod team to save the Lylat Forum!

I was about to ask what would happen if the next Star Fox game had Andross taking to the internet to inspire rage in its citizens only to realize it would basically just be Furry Homestuck and then I cringed really badly.

Maybe they should do a game where you play as James with Peppy and Pigma before 64's story. Questions need to be answered before you create new ones (*cough* Anglers *cough*).

See, while I get that there is potential with developing that backstory, I don't really get what in the James story is really left unanswered. "Mercenary team goes to investigate Andross and James dies" was always the gist of it, it wasn't super ambiguous, just a little blunt. The only thing left unexplained is the history with Wolf.

And James is most certainly dead?

He must be. There is no way he and his (intact) arwing could be hiding out/ surviving on Venom for all those years.

Wolf is unexplained. But is Starwolf its own mercenary team just working for Andross? Or did Andross recruit them as a special ops force to rival Starfox?

I believe that it sometimes can be very convenient for writing fanfiction that so many things have stayed unexplained so far, yet I sometimes wish they'd make another game explaining part of it. If well done, fan-made background stories can be interesting to read, however, unfortunately, there are not many well done ones.

Also as some characters in the games don't have much characterization there are different possible approaches to a character without necessarily making him completely OOC. That said, I nevertheless think that there are way too many fics where characters got nothing in common with themselves anymore and it's simply annoying 'cause that there are quite a few somewhat different ways of getting a character right doesn't mean it is any less easy to get them completely wrong.

One thing that always annoyed me a little about the games is, that even there the characters' personalities didn't stay the same and didn't only change in understandable or logical ways. Especially Command is annoying - though it can't really be considered canon anyway - as some of the characters are simply caricatures of themselves (e.g. Falco and Leon; honestly they are plain stupid in that game) but even if you ignore Command there are quite noticeable differences in the characterizations between 64 and Assault. Consequently, I think, sometimes different approaches on the characters are based on putting a different priority on different games or aspects of the character.

One thing I don't mind at all are dark or gory stories as long as they keep the cast in character. E.g. if Krystal chopped someone to pieces just because he annoyed her or Fox ripped someones guts out for no particular reason that wouldn't make much sense. If Leon did something violent or cruel, well, that makes more sense.

I do, of course, understand why very gory stories with detailed descriptions of death or violence are not allowed here, I'm just saying I don't necessarily mind it and it doesn't necessarily lower the quality of a fanfic as long as there are other aspects to the story too and it's not just centered on ripping as many bodies apart as possible.

Another thing I basically don't mind is swearing, however if the whole story consists of swearing and anger only that's possibly one of the most boring things possible and I've seen a few of those by now. It just means that the author has personal problems or issues.

Apart from completely OOC character one thing that annoys me the most is if the author himself doesn't seem to know why his characters are acting the way they do. If you do something you usually have a reason to do so, so make sure you know why ALL your characters are acting the way they do. Now, their reason might be completely rational, it might be emotional or they might be misinformed and do the wrong thing because they don't know any better but they do have a reason why they act as they do and if they don't the story is bad. Also knowing the reason yourself won't do. Make sure the reader will know too at least why the character from whose POV you write acts the way he does.

Very basic logic mistakes are also a mayor issue in some stories. If every idiot could tell that your story wouldn't work the way you wrote it or you forget what your characters did in the previous chapter and now let them do the opposite that simply doesn't look as if you were dedicating much thought to your story.

Also, after writing a chapter it can't do any harm to read it through and correct some of the mistakes in it before publishing it. It might be easy to ignore a few misspelled words but if every other word is wrong, the grammar is faulty and the punctuation is missing completely it's no fun to read. Now, I am not a native speaker and I am sure I do make a few awkward errors and therefore I can't really blame others for doing the same but one can at least try to avoid making a horrible amount of errors.

I also have to agree with what most people said about OCs and especially about overpowered OCs. OCs as main characters almost never work out well and especially the overpowered ones drive me mad as they make cannon characters I like look like complete wimps who are incapable of everything. Writing a StarFox fic that is taking place on Earth and/or involves human beings also hardly ever works. I've once seen a really good one, though, but it was a humor fic.

And humor fics are the next thing that usually annoy me 'cause I've seen hardly any in that category that are done well. Honestly, there's a difference between humor and stupidity. Letting Peppy scream "DO A BARREL ROLL!!!" a thousand times when it absolutely makes no sense isn't funny - it's stupid. The best humor is humor that is at least in some way intelligent and original.

Another thing that usually isn't the best idea are very short chapters because there simply is no space for character-development or any interesting plot - again, I've read one exception to that rule, so it's not impossible to do; it just won't work with most stories and most authors.

Um, I kind of lost track of what I've already mentioned and what I haven't and feel like I might have forgotten about the most important thing... so I might get back to it later on.

That said, I am very well aware that I am guilty of at least some of the things I mentioned here or other people mentioned before. I sometimes also started some story out of a bad mood and consequently it's not really interesting to read. I guess I just need to revise or delete a lot of the stuff I've written (over at fanfiction net, not here)
