CrypticQuery
Yup, you read that title right. There is a Ratchet and Clank animated film set to hit theaters in 2015. The teaser trailer was just put out by Sony and InsomniacGames; It is written by TJ Fixman, the senior writer for InsomniacGames who consequently wrote the FUTURE series of Ratchet and Clank games. Original voice-cast will be returning too; read up on this at the links below. It will definitely be awesome to see Ratchet and Clank in theaters! http://blog.us.playstation.com/2013/04/23/first-video-ratchet-clank-movie-hits-theaters-2015/ http://www.forbes.com/sites/johngaudiosi/2013/04/23/sony-playstation-franchise-ratchet-and-clank-goes-hollywood-with-3d-feature-film/ http://kotaku.com/finally-rathcet-clank-are-getting-a-movie-477900237
Snys93
Is this for real? I mean its still April and anything can happen.
CrypticQuery
Thank god its not real life and directed by Uwe Boll. But I'm going under the impression it'll be a disappointment than it will be a total failure considering how many video game movies were made. Show me what you got,TJ. I am harboring cautions optimism right now; the fact that the original writer and entire Insomniac team are heavily involved with the project is always good. [Also, loving The Stig theme for your profile. ] Is this for real? I mean its still April and anything can happen. Definitely real; it has been mentioned in Forbes, Variety, on Sony's Playstation Blog, through each voice-actors twitter, through the writer's twitter, etc. Can't get more legitimate than that. Redeemer
Heehee, cute teaser trailer. I'm not a R&C fan but I am eager to see what this movie brings. I think I would still go to the cinema to see it - it's not often you see a movie based on a game that is actually LIKE the game.
Icy
Oh my. I am definitely going to see this. This right here is how a video game movie is done, everybody.

Agreed, though I do wish they would use the Ratchet design from the Future trilogy on PS3 as opposed to the All4One style in the video;

Gene Inari
The fact that the original writers from Insomiac are deeply and directly involved is a good sign of promise. I have high hopes, that and I am quite a fan of the R&C series. Also the line Where's the dubstep?! got me good. Another big plus for having the writers on board, you know the movie is gonna have the same kind of humor as the games.
FK4
So they Do Ratchet and Ckank but not Jak And Daxter? What a shame, naughty dog deserved it.
Geo Stelar
I'm so excited for this! This is a perfect example of a video game film adaptation! :D
CrypticQuery
So they Do Ratchet and Ckank but not Jak And Daxter? What a shame, naughty dog deserved it. Of the three older Sony mascot franchises that seem adaptable for a movie (Ratchet and Clank, Sly Cooper, Jak and Daxter), I personally believe that Ratchet and Clank would be the best starting point; its universe is ridiculously large and can encompass quite a few classic animation-styled tropes, references, and clever wit. In addition, the R&C games generally had the best writing of the three series. I'm so excited for this! This is a perfect example of a video game film adaptation! :D Here's hoping! jeth
This looks promising. Here's to hope it doesn't end up like most video game to film adaptations.
sjrathbun812
Whoa, this really is for real...? I just hope they don't butcher the series. But seeing as how the original game developers are there, and writers, and voice actors... this might not be the case.
CrypticQuery
Definitely for real; aside from the fact that it was posted through Sony's official channel, check InsominacGames' official twitter account, James Arnold Taylor's [voice of Ratchet], David Kaye's [Voice of Clank], etc. Undeniably legitimate, and exciting at that! And I agree; I would be having a heart-attack had Insomniac and TJ Fixman not been heavily involved in the project. Thankfully, they are. [Note that Fixman has written the FUTURE series of games on PS3; some of the best. He also did the comics, as set of which I own. Issue 4 has my favorite cover though;]
