Plethora? Really? Also most of those third parties make the games for the PC as well, and usually they're better than their console counterparts.

Yes; I cannot find a complete list but the sheer amount of Sony exclusives covering a variety of styles is staggering to say the very least.  And I'm not disputing the PC vs Console question; I enjoy my PC quite a bit, namely because of the finesse in graphical standards and the incredible modding communities.

Also, apparently the next Xbox will need you to be connected to the internet at least once a day for DRM; http://kotaku.com/xbox-one-does-require-internet-connection-cant-play-o-509164109

It's interesting, but I most likely won't be buying it any time soon. If developers can take advantage of the next-gen capabilities, then I'm all for that, but for now I'm just waiting for more game announcements.

All the bullshit tactics for used games and tying things to accounts and all? Whatever. I don't like it, but it won't stop that many people from buying the console, and Microsoft knows that. :/

Anyway, E3 will be jam-packed this year. I don't know how my brain will be able to process it all. :C

Also...

If they release a new Hydro Thunder on this system, then nothing will stop me from getting it.

As much as I hate Microsoft, it is impossible to resist Hydro Thunder.

And here I thought I couldn't hate a Microsoft console any more than the Xbawks 3Shitty.

At first I thought it was a DVR or Google TV competitor.

Then I realized it was an Xbox.

I still think it's more of a shiny expensive DVR.

Also 8GB RAM, Blu-Ray, Kinect 2.0, Forza 5, multitasking, and 8-Core. If you played the drinking game you died of alcohol poisoning.

So no, I'm not excited. It's shiny and has some nice features but it's nothing a decent windows 8 mini PC can't do.

I would buy a 360 before this, unless its backwards compatible with Xbox and 360. I also think the controller is ugly, although it looks like it would have stable controls.

Here's the conference summary for those who missed it;

Evidently, much of the cheering in the video was not the press;

Neogaf seems to have forgotten that they hate the Wii U. They're all talking about buying a Wii U and a PS4 to spite Microsoft.

Hi,

when the new XBox, as well as the PS4 do use a x86 architecture CPU, it could have a benefit for PC-gamers, too. I can imagine, that ports would be much easier now, as the developers don't have to rewrite that many of the code, than from the PowerPC architecture. Maybe we finally see some more multiplatform games, which run good on all three platforms.

Part of me is just saying, "C'mon Sony, all you have to do now is not fuck up, and you can pretty much bury Microsoft," but another part is thinking, "If Sony does fuck up, that'll help the Wii U become the dominant console for this generation." Though I hope Sony doesn't fuck up, and I actually wish Microsoft made a damned good competitive product because competition keeps the companies on their toes and keeps them improving shit.

Or it makes them milk cash cows as much as they can.

The reason that works is that consumers actually buy those, then turn around and complain about how its shit.

Remember, though, it is cyclical:

1. Buy AAA game.

2. Play said game and realize it sucks balls.

3. Bitch about it, but keep playing anyway

4. Publisher announces sequal to said game.

5. Get excited about it.

6. Ride the hype train

7. Repeat steps 1-6 ad infinitum

It seems like an obvious decision to me: Don't buy an Xbox One. There's nothing I want to play, user-aggressive DRM, it looks like  a VCR, no backwards compatibility without tribute to the Microsoft Money Gods, has features that are visually impressive but I personally wouldn't use, it  looks like a VCR, requires a Kinect, requires a 24/7 internet connection and it looks like a VCR.

...OK fine, the VCR bit is just a joke but I stand by the rest. This keeps my list down to Nintendo and Sony as it always has been for me. (I never liked Xbox even when it came out. I did miss Blinx though.) Though granted, I know little to nothing about the PS4 currently and the Wii U also has no games I want on it as of this writing.

I find it funny how they still push the new fish game (COD Ghosts) on us as a great game and a reason to buy this hunk-a junk when no one but no one expects nothing new except a graphics and guns pack. There are enough dudebros to like it, but I hope against hope that even they realize how many cons there are to even owning an Xbox One.

All in all, if I ever buy a new generation console, it will be a handheld that's already been out for a while now!

By the way, this next bit is sincere. One good thing came out of the reveal. Shocking, yeah? Well, here t is. It pretty much made Sony and Nintendo look that much better.

And this is why I rarely buy new games. Other reason is cuz I can't. Mainly because I'm cheap.

But that doesn't make it the developer/publishers' fault for constantly making what sells like hotcakes. Stiff competition tends to make people step up their A game. No competition leads to EA Sports. Same exact game over and over again.

it looks like  a VCR

To be fair, newer VCRs have generally looked quite good.  The older ones had charm to them as well;

What makes this kind of a coincidence to me is that I compared the VCR in my house to the new Xbox One, which is the EXACT SAME one in this picture.

Come to think of it, I need to purchase a new VCR sometime soon.  I have a few boxes filled with VHS tapes and yet the last VCR I had was a Sony unit built in the late 1980s.  Damn thing was indestructible, though I have no idea where it went.  I'll probably get more use out of a new VCR than I would with the Xbox-One. :-P

Microsoft inadvertently quoted a sarcastic tweet on their presentation for their own marketing purposes.

That's hilariously unfortunate.

I was waiting for the folks that did the PS4 announcement abridged video to do one for Microsoft's announcement.  It didn't disappoint. :P
