Minecraft nether fortress problems

Pgpaw3

Question

So I made my minecraft world before the nether fortresses were added. Now that I am actually trying to kill the ender dragon, I need to find nether fortresses. I went into the nether to try and find them, and even after trying to follow a strategy to find them I saw on the internet, I didn't find any and after an hour or more ended up dieing. My question is, does my nether even have fortress, as I entered the nether before they were added?

If the answer is no, I have heard that you can go into the minecraft files and delete the nether, then go in from the overworld, forcing the nether to respawn. Does this work?

I should also say that I don't want to make a new world.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks.

They can appear, but only in an undiscovered chunk, so if you went far in the nether previously, you'll need to go even farther to find a fortress.

I barely went anywhere in the nether before that.

If the world was made before the nether was created, then there isn't a nether there. I can guess that this is  an Xbox version world and I've had the same problem.

Sorry.

I do have a nether. I have been in it. And its not on the xbox. Its a pc version.

And if there are no fortresses, would deleting it and getting it to regenerate work?

I fixed it. I deleted the nether files and forced it to regenerate. I then walked in the nether for two mins and what do you know, there was a fortress. No new world needed.

You probably had a pre-nether fortress version of the nether saved. Same thing happened when some of the updates added new ores and gameplay mechanics, you couldn't find them no matter how far you went. We had to reset in order to get all the new features. Good luck fighting the Ender Dragon.

I would say so.

And I have killed the ender dragon. Although there were no strongholds in my world, so my eye of enders pointed me to just ground, and I had to make a new world, find its end portal, and then hack it into my old one. The Ender Dragon was a disappointingly easy fight.
