Marauder, Episode I: Strike of the Desolator

(Now that this has been approved, let's get started, shall we?)

Drake sat on a bar stool at the bar in the Cantina of the Senate Plaza. The Cantina didn't actually sit on the Senate Plaza, however - rather, it was beneath it. Staircases to the left and right of the Senate Plaza's edges led to a market beneath the plaza's floor, housing all manner of stores, kisosks and other places. This cantina in particular sat off the edge of the western staircase.

While Drake sat waiting for his team, he sipped on a glass of water. The Corellian Ale here was awful, and he'd rather not get jumped up on Juma Juice before an op. The Bith bartender tended to another customer, and a Sullustian sat chatting with a Human.

Too bad Kabby couldn't participate in this op, Drake thought.

(EDIT: Harlow has opted out of this. It's just down to BW, StarKid117 and myself.)

The Heavy thudding of her boots announced Balsa far better than any trumpeter. Not only did that unholy din preceed her arrival, but the slight whispers and gazes her way would lead even the deaf and dumb to take a glance. And why wouldn't they, when she was dressed like an ancient warrior from a holonovel rather than a serious warrior or a casual one.

"Drake" She greets with a nod, removing her rather A silly looking Helmet and sitting at his side. She was fully encased in what appeared to be a polished and polish Hussar Armor minus the anachronistic set of wings, The breastplate was thick and her arms and legs were encased in what appeared to be a chainmail link on top of leather.

"I came when i received your call"

"I appreciate it," Drake responded. "I hope you came prepped; we've got our work cut out for us." He paused as he shifted his rifle - an AK50M7 - keeping it strapped to his back with the stock folded down. "... How much do you know of this 'verse?" he asked in a hushed tone.

"Minimal" She whispers back, masking her lips  by turning to face Drake with her full body. "I had the Captain drop me off without a briefing. I was in to much of a hurry and i figured you would fill me in"

Drake nodded, drew a breath, then began to explain to Balsa the depth of this 'verse, starting with the return of a rejuvenated Sith Empire, then the war, followed by the Sith assault on Coruscant, and culminating with the signing of the Treaty of Coruscant.

"... Since then, both sides have been scheming against the other," Drake concluded. "Doctor Tarnis had been working on bits of technology that would turn the tide in the republic's favor, but, as we know, he was kidnapped. We don't know who or why, but our first objective is to find and rescue him. But..." He paused, then continued, "... Something feels out-of-place in all this. Tarnis was a well-guarded scientist - it would take a very cunning and well-equipped individual or team to kidnap a man so well-guarded... something I think that neither the Black Sun nor the Justicars have."

"Sounds suspicious indeed" Balsa agrees, her face scrunched up as she thinks. "Do you have any clues as to whom actually did it? I am sure there are way to many groups that have a stake in the future of this place."

"Unfortunately, no," Drake admitted. "Whoever did this was a professional; all the holocam logs at the time of the incident are blank, and other than the missing doctor, there's almost no evidence of forced entry or infiltration. The republic suspects a high-profile bounty hunter is involved, but my gut tells me there's something more nefarious going on."

"Hmm" Balsa says, looking around the cantina as they sit and wait. "Am i the only one you called? That would be flattering, but..." She says, snorting as she does.

"No, I called another - guy by the name of Miles," Drake answered. "But I have no idea what's keeping him."

(Speaking of which, where is StarKid117?)

(We can't wait for StarKid forever, BW. I hate to do this, but if he doesn't post, we'll have to continue on without him. If you know anyone who'd be willing to join up, feel free to call them.)

(Very well.)

After what seemed to be hours of waiting, Drake downed his drink and said, "Well, can't wait around forever - gotta do something." He paid his tab and grabbed his AK. "Let's go - Tarnis isn't going to rescue himself."

Drake shook Myles' hand, then slung his AK50. "Now that everyone's here, let's get going; we've got a lot of ground to cover. I've got point." He headed out, leading the team to a nearby taxi pad.

"Hope you're not afraid of heights, Balsa," Drake commented.

"Hope you aren't afraid of close contact." Balsa retorts, eyeing the air for the taxi cab and the four of them. "Because this might be a tight fit."

"Shotgun", Myles said calling the front seat of the cab since there is really only room for three in the back.

Drake got in the taxi with everyone else, and the taxi zoomed off. The view from the taxi was incredible; the busy air lanes, the spectacular sunset, the many buildings... it made Coruscant look beautiful, and almost disguised the fact that Coruscant's government was struggling against the superior numbers of the many criminal elements operating here. Almost.

The Taxi touched down in Black Sun territory, and Drake hopped out, unslinging his AK50 and unfolding the stock. "Welcome to Black Sun Territory, people - you likely aren't going to hear that from anyone else. We need to make our way to Black Sun's docking bay; they'll likely have Doctor Tarnis in a cell there, ready to be shipped off-world. Any questions?"

"That won't be easy." Rae said seeming to appear out of nowhere near the group. "They've got guards posted all over the docking bays and some even before that, best we be very careful, If  I recall the Black Sun doesn't  take Kindly to strangers who aren't looking to join them." She added "I didn't go inside ,but I got some great Photo imagry of the area if you want to look at it Drake."
