Marauder, Episode I: Strike of the Desolator

(Oops, sorry.)

Balsa takes a running leap into the warehouse as her gauntlets fail, the device itself already an eery and dull red. The shields pop with graphic force, the ground where she was diving over crunching as forces of nature not meant to collide do so. She hits the ground rolling, already removing seals and popping tabs that kept her gauntlets to her carapace.

"I hate experimental crap" She decides, spiking the broken machinery into the ground as she pats around her chestplate for a gun.

"Anyone have a spare pistol to lend before they get here?" Balsa asks.

Drake waited for Balsa to get clear, then leaps into action, cutting the enemy down one after the other. By the time he finishes, a dozen droids were scattered about the area, and nearly twice as many Colicoids were dead. Drake marched into the warehouse, visibly panting but otherwise stalwart and inexhausted.

Drake went into his armor and retrieved a Model 30 Kadgeron Disruptor Pistol. He twirled it in his finger before handing it to Balsa. "Unless you'd prefer an Assault Cannon," he told her.

"Yeah, if you want - take mine. Thing's getting heavy, anyway," Kabier added.

"That's one thing I want to ask - how the hell did the Justicars get Droidekas? Or Colicoids, for that matter?" Kabier queried.

"More importantly than how is where," Drake said. "These Justicars are very well-supplied for vigilantes. Too well-supplied, in fact."

"Think the Sith are supplying them?" Kabier asked.

"It would explain a few things," Drake answered.

"I'm not going to doubt anything at this point." Rae replied "At this rate we'll have magna guards and commando droids after us."

Balsa grabs the pistol and looks at it disapprovingly. She hands it back to Drake. "If you have something that i can use, let me know." She crosses the room and throws a shoulder into a door that leads deeper into the warehouse.

"We might wish to put more than a few walls between us and those goddamned cyborgs" She says, the door slamming open.

Drake followed Balsa, with Kabier close behind.

"This op just keeps getting better," Drake commented.

"Cheer up, Drake - it could be worse," Kabier said. "We could be fighting Borg Drones. Remember Taral IV?"

"Ugh, don't remind me," Drake grumbled.

"Can somebody tell me why that human can't use firearms?" Rae asked checking her DC-15S blaster.

"Daddy Basalt dinnae raise no Musketeer" Balsa says. "I am a born and bred Halbadier, and i probably shouldn't have asked for a spare pistol." She holds the door for her comrades, shooting glances in the distance at the hole in the wall of the warehouse. "Any my name isn't human, not that i would expect an assassin to remember names"

"Would you use a revolver instead",Myles said as he took out his .457 revolver out of his back holster brandishing it.

"Argo," Drake asked, "Are we anywhere near the entry point to the Works?"

"What about "i dont want a gun" is so hard to understand?" Balsa asks sarcastically. She shrugs and moves through the door herself, keeping an eye out for something to use.

"Well the experimental sh!t doesn't last and you don't like that but you use it anyways and when we offer high qualaty weapons you don't want anything to do with them... that is what I don't understand",Myles replied.

"Argo," Drake asked, "Are we anywhere near the entry point to the Works?"

"The entrance is about 2 meters in front of you." Argo replied.

Rae didn't respond to Balsa instead taking the 'insult' as nothing.

Drake looked around and saw it - an elevator shaft.

"That elevator won't fit all of us at once," Kabier said.

"I can see that," Drake replied. "Kabby and I will go down first; Balsa, you're going in after us; Myles, Rae, you're after her."

Drake headed up toward the Elevator shaft, hit a button, and waited for the doors to part. But nothing happened.

"Damn," Drake grumbled, "Elevator's not working."

"Hey, Balsa," Kabier inqured, "Ever bust a door down?"

Balsa responds by taking the last few feet from the door at a charge, slamming her fingers into the metal of the door. Using the momentum gained from the action, Balsa wrenches with all her might. The door slips open for just a second, but Balsa slips her fingers inside the crack and begins slowly pulling the door open.

"Couple times" Balsa grunts as she moves, leg over leg, to get half the door open. "Why do you ask?"

Drake peered down the elevator shaft, and commented, "That's a looooong drop."

"But there's no other way to the Works," Kabier said. "This is the only access point. Can you see a ladder or anything of the sort?"

"Not really," Drake answered. "Anyone have any ideas?"

"Grappling hooks?" Rae asked, searching through her pockets for anything she could use.

"Give me a rope" Balsa says, finally pinning the metal doors into their given crevices, having to push pass their mechanical barriers. She gives a breath of air, held in to aid her struggle. "Ill take the jump, you guys can rappel down when i hit the floor."

"You sure you can grip it tight enough?" Rae asked handing balsa a cable rope.

Drake frowned. "You sound like you've done something like that before," he told Balsa. "That's a long way down; you sure you can jump that distance?"

Kabier looked around the room, searching for...

"Will this do?" she asked Balsa, grabbing a very long, curled up rope.

"Both would help" Balsa says, knotting the rope around her ankles. She takes the time to give her legs a knock, the sound a very unfitting metallic thump. "Had to get my femurs removed after a plasma accident. Got my lower bones replaced with solid metal, and some sciency anti inertial crap that keeps em from shooting out of my shoulders when i land."

Balsa reaches up to hand the ropes to someone. "Hold on tight, i weigh a good 180 lbs."

"Just need a tiedown point." Rae said looking for something to tie the rope too.

"No need," Drake said. He grabbed hold of the rope and tapped into the Force. "Kabby, hold me tight - I may need your help."

Kabier tossed aside her Assault Cannon and held onto Drake, planting her feet firmly in the ground.

Drake looked to the others, then to Balsa, giving her a nod.

"Go."
