Don't worry Psy around 3am I start writing strange things as well. Now back to the topic at hand. The first thing I though about was some nutrient paste they ate in a book I read, it was one of the Pendragon books I believe. I have no proof of that in starfox though. psy_commando
Well, a regime of nutrient paste would probably makes their teeth atrophied in the long run. It was a popular idea a couple of years ago in sci-fi that people would eat pills or nutrient paste, but its not really optimal. And cooks would loose their jobs. Plus, since Panther mentions his favorite cafe on Corneria, I doubt they'd go there to eat paste ! Moreover in the NP comics they mention twinkie and pancakes Plus, we're still kinda wired to eat "solid" food. We don't know what consequence on the mind this could have on the long term. And moreover, usually those things omit certain important parts of a healthy diet. But I might be speculating a little bit here..

WolfOD64
Well, in one of Lylat Cruise Transmissions in SSBB, Falco says something about "overcooked noodles." So we can add ramen to the list...

Fana McCloud
In my head cannon there are non-sapient, less evolved versions of most of the sapient species that evolved on Corneria (sorta like what apes are to us), which Lylatians have no qualms with eating if they're carnivores. XD Though at their level of tech the meat can be grown separate from the animal so that there isn't any actual animal death (unless you're a weirdo that insists on the "real deal", but my imagining is that those people are rare). Additional fun fact: Fana actually has more "feral" looking eyes like her species' less evolved counterparts, which is kinda akin to looking a bit neanderthal-ish. Some rare, unfortunate individuals give her shit about it - and usually end up in the hospital if they're extremely pushy SOBs. XD

fritzgryphon
You never see any cow or chicken or horse or rat characters. Guess why.
DZComposer
Looks like Inarizushi to me:Inarizushi is fried tofu stuffed with sushi rice. I've had Inarizushi before. It is quite tasty (and I'm saying this as someone who is not a big fan of tofu), but sadly most sushi places here in Texas don't make it. This hypothesis is furthered because the fox statues at the Fushimi Inari shrine were the initial inspiration for Fox's character design. The Shinto god Inari is the namesake of both the shrine and the sushi.
The Shaper
So if the door to sushi is open, then the odds are the door to other food groups are as well (fish, rice, vegetables, etc). Either way, it's starting to look like being anthropomorphic animals hasn't exactly diverted their diets very far from our own.
Thu'um
What I'm curious about is, alcohol. Its unlikely fox's drink there is a hard beverage, but i don't feel like they'd sit around and drink water and fruit juices. Also what about milk? Would there literally be Anthropomorphic cows with the duty of being milked? heh, and if not what would they pour in their cereal?
DZComposer
Fox drinks his beer with a straw:This is an officially licensed book, BTW.In Japan they don't view alcohol consumption the same was as in the US.
Jcopper24
^ First, fox on that arwing is awesome. Second, most of the Cornerians are Cats and Dogs. We've never seen sheep so I believe that they are on the list. Seafood is also viable with 85% water on Corneria plus Aquas and Zoness (if it ever gets clean again). Katina and Fortuna are shown with lots of fungi so, there's that. We'll probably never know but let's keep trying.

psy_commando
That's the "young selection" game guide. There are quite a few drawings on it. But you might also wanna check the keibusha one, there are a bunch of chibi-like little comics strips on each walkthrough. Like this one: http://f.starfox-online.net/sf64/guides/keibunsha/comicscript.php?currentpage=30 I think GlitterBerrie might translate those one of these days, or at least it sounded as if. Which reminds me I still have 3 other SF Japanese books to scan XD
Fana McCloud
I love how the saucer says "UFO" on it, given that the saucer at Katina was probably anything but "unidentified" as the acronym would suggest - but thems kooky Japanese probably don't know what UFO actually stands for, do they? XD And beer... bleh, not my first choice of alcoholic beverage... or my second, or third, or even tenth. Fana drinks the hard stuff that doesn't taste like piss. But at least that's one mystery solved.
psy_commando
Well, about the beer thing, I tend to think that that's in fact root beer with the root not being shown on the can. Given that, drinking any alcohol with a straw isn't very enjoyable (I tried in the past...) But, who knows. Japan isn't as deeply troubled by taboos as North America..
