I always love when companies jab at each other directly.  Note this video just posted by Sony Playstation's Youtube Account.  It clearly mocks Xbox One's ridiculously lengthy provisions for the used game market and game sharing and is hilarious at that.

The only downfall I see is that it seems as if a Playstation Plus subscription is required to play games online for PS4.  While PS+ is a good service with a ridiculous amount of perks and free games, I must say that the fact that it is required is a bit of a letdown.  At least I'd still be able to play singleplayer games without problem and not have to worry about an always-online console with DRM everywhere.

It seems as if Nintendo as well as the PC have an advantage with completely free online, yes.  And I do commend Sony on going with the No-DRM route.  The console's design is very reminiscent of the PS2 [which I love], the price is a full $100 less than the immediate competition, and while PS+ is required to play online the fact that the console is not always-online and I can therefore play singleplayer games perfectly fine makes me happy.

Quick update.  While a PS+ subscription (at $5 a month I believe) is required to play online, a single subscription will work for multiple accounts on the same PS4.

The forced PS+ is a low move for Sony. They have more than enough resources to handle having optional free and premium services.

It's a premium account type deal. You can make a PSN account then subscribe to PS+.

 

As for it being a low move, to each their own, I reckon, but I don't mind it much since internet services like that are expensive to run as well as making the console at a loss. $5 a month is nothing, really, especially since the PS+ perks are already worth it usually.

Agreed; $5 a month isn't bad - especially when considering all of the free items you procure with PS+ membership.  Though I rarely use my PS3 for online play and doubt I will use the PS4 for it much either; the PC takes that role on and the PS3/PS4 act as a singleplayer machine in my case.

I do hope deals such as these continue once the PS4 becomes formally released - otherwise though, those are damn good additions to the already impressive instant game library.
