Tricky - Annoying or Awesome?

So in the chat were were discussing things and this came up.

 

Is Tricky annoying or is he awesome? Or whatever words you want to substitute those for.

I think he's cute and awesome and has funny lines in Adventures. But sadly, that doesn't seem to be the popular opinion. But have we ever had a poll like this? According to that famous search button, there was a topic for something similar in 2010... but we all know polls must be done many times over the years!

 

So let's settle this!!

I don't know if I can say either: I think finding him fun to make fun of and annoy in-game constitutes a neutral thought of opinion.

To be honest I never found Tricky to be quite "ARERHGHRAAAGE-class" annoying, not even for the voice acting or worst lines. The only thing he has that annoys me is that he's a "to hell with logic" excuse to the lack, well, I don't know, a flamethrower spell for Krystal's staff maybe?

 

But since he doesn't annoy me at all, I wouldn't vote so. Is there an option for neutral?

I, personally, enjoyed the little Dino bastard. At first I was like "I'm going to rip his head off." Yet, he grew on me. Like a fungus on a dead log. I say another side of him I wouldn't have seen if I didn't give him the chance.

Alright, I hear a lot of people bitch about how Tricky was annoying, but I don't understand their rationale. I don't even hear it that often, but I hear enough to think that they have no real reason and they only doing so to add some novelty to his character to try and fit him into some "Annoying Sidekick" archetype. But he doesn't fall into that. He's a minor nuisance at his worst, he's a decent companion in terms of efficiency, and his voice isn't THAT bad when compared to a lot of the other dinosaurs (Shopkeeper says "Hi").

 

I wouldn't normally call him "awesome", but I will for the sake of this topic, especially since he is downright adorable at times.

Well....i would have chosen both, but at the end of the day he was pretty brave for a young tike, Also i'm sure my tricky was starving all the time, lol. What a good father i am ;_;

Tricky wasn't as bad as some people make him out to be I don't think. I need to play the game again but I seem to remember him being like the only character in the game that had anything resembling character development or explainable/justified motivation.

Scales didn't really have character development though he was just like "haha I'm going to gain power by destroying my own planet (????) oh wait shit oops *dies*". Tricky at least had some vague thing to do with growing from a dorky naive kid into a potential future king which was basically fully realized when Fox officiated him as a member of Star Fox. It wasn't super strong but...it was an attempt.

I like Tricky. I think he's cute, good natured and funny! I used to spend a lot of time playing ball with him and watching him go all psychedelic when he changed colour.

 

But then again, I also like Navi, so who knows. XD

For me I would say that while he was pretty awesome to have as a sidekick, he was also quite an annoying one at the same time.

So I am going to say neutral on this one. :-)

if i wanted to be followed at all times by a small burdensome thing that makes me stop what i'm doing to take care of it and spends a great deal of time whinging about how hungry and tired it is, i would put down the video games and go have a kid.

   Hes useful and obnoxious. That limbo is consistent with most comic relief characters. It would have worked better if he was a species of pterodactyl, flying around pointing out dangers and help in combat situation as does Navi in Ocarina of Time.

From the little I can recall, he wasn't a total Scrappy. They did the whole little kid thing well, and he was actually useful.

I thought of the whole game Adventure as annoying in the way that it isn't a real Starfox-game and the plot was a little ridiculous. Then again Assault wouldn't exist without Adventures and it's my favorite... sooo...

I actually once heard an interesting argument on the subject of Adventures continuity. Replace Krystal with Fara or one of the other lost Star Fox females, and either remove or retcon the Sauria stage, and bam. Everything from Adventures is no longer applicable in the story and isn't needed in order for Assault to function, however poorly it did.
